Satellite L350 - persistent master hard drive errors

I've known persistent main hard disk errors. Errors, in their first incarnation, were windows freeze at loading screens and screensavers, and then developed by stopping Windows to boot at all. It certainly would not start normally and sometimes would not start in safe mode. I used the recovery partition to restore the computer to its factory settings. A day or two later, the same symptoms began to manifest again, although not as severely. The hard drive errors, freeze on screens and loading screen savers.

My question is: if I re - format the hard drive master, thus destroying the recovery partition, I could then just restore windows from a newly formed recovery CD? And, in addition, what is the probability that reformatting the drive hard completely would have an effect on the frequency of errors?
If the hard drive is simply borked, format or not? And if yes, what is the next step?
Could I restore windows on my drive hard slave and give up on the master?

Thanks in advance.
Mike

Hey Buddy,

Are you sure that all these problems related to the HARD drive at 100%? How did you check that?

I don t mean it s not the HARD drive, theoretically, you could be right but before you think to change the HARD drive please use a diagnostic tool special for HDD as Drive Fitness Test:
http://www.HitachiGST.com/support/downloads/#DFT

This tool can check your HARD drive for bad sectors.

If the HARD features of bad sectors disk, formatting will not help you because the sectors are physically damaged. With other words, the only chance is to exchange it.

But if you have already used the recovery feature of HARD Toshiba drive to reinstall Windows you can say s that no problem of software and it must be hardware related. ;)

Help, please. I have Toshiba Satellite L350 - 12 c and it s a German model. My hard drive has failed.
The local repair center Toshiba says they can replace the hard drive, but without the disc they can t restore in working condition.
Worse, it is its still under warranty but Toshiba refuses to help me. The only place where I can order discs is Europe who won t accept American credit card and mailing address that kills me because I have another laptop of Germany and they sent me the discs without problem.

The local store even contacted the local representative and it was no help. Help the frustrated customer of Toshiba.

    Hello

Can we please clarify something? If I understand you have the model of mobile German but I just didn't understand where you are now? In the United States, or elsewhere?
If you are not in Europe the whole situation can be a bit tricky, but for every problem there is a reasonable solution.

  • Satellite A210-ICO - what HARD drive I can use?

I'm getting bad sectors on the hard drive of my laptop, so I guess I should pay for a new one – but who are able to A210-1CO?

    TA, M

    Hello

Satellite A210 uses SATA hard drives and you need a new HARD drive with SATA interface. You can buy each HARD drive you want, for example 160 or 320 GB. On interface SATA there is no capacity limit.

In addition, most SATA HDDs have already SATA2 interface but its compatible downgrade to SATA1.
I would have preferred a HARD disk at 5400 RPM. Of course, you can buy a HARD drive with 7200 RPM, but they produced more heat and noise. For most of the applications are pretty 5400 RPM.

I have good experiences with Hitachi and Seagate hard drives.

    Good bye

  • Satellite A60 - question of HARD drive replacement

I have an old Toshiba Satellite A60. The HARD drive died recently and I'm looking to replace it. I want to know what disk drive specification, the Toshiba Satellite A60 can support. It originally had a MK3025GAS
    HDD2196B ZE01 S 30 GB 2.5 "drive.

    1. I would like to replace it with a larger capacity drive. What is the capacity (GB) and speed the A60 can bear?

    2. do I need to replace it with a toshiba drive or can I use any other 2.5 "drive (Seagate, Fujitsu, etc...)?

    Hello

As far as I know the old Satellite A60 supports one IDE controller.
This means that you must use a 2.5 IDE (ATA) HARD drive.
As far as I know the older IDE controller are limited to 128 GB with 28-bit LBA (address logic bit).
Then maybe you should start with a 120 GB HDD, which must be compatible, even if the controller would be limited to 128 GB.

But standard ATA-6 (also called TONGA-100) does support 48 bit LBA in this case, it is not limited to 128 GB. You can check controller HARD drive using tools such as SANDRA or Everest Home Edition freeware soft for the information on the controller built in the A60.

    > 2. Do I need to replace it with a toshiba drive or can I use any other disk 2.5 "
You can use any HARD drive that meets the requirements (IDE, 2.5)

  • Hard drive error, but passes diagnostic

I have a vostro 320 all in one computer. Yesterday he left initializing with a hard drive error, but when I run the hardware diagnostics all past. When I go into the installer the Bious does not see the hard drive. Current Bious is 1.2.0 and current is 1.4.0.

If the BIOS does not see the hard drive, no - you will need to replace the disk.

You can take a chance on the resettlement of the player (unplug the system and disconnect and reconnect the hard drive), but if so, it is not detected by the system, it is toast and needs to be replaced.

  • hard drive error message 1

Whenever I turn on my laptop, a message appears that there is a problem with my hard drive.  I have prees F2 to get the Diagnostics utility and run the hard drive test. When I do I get this message

    Hello

Error code 24 characters will be a Smart failure or disk Self Test - in both cases, this would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, let me know.

  • Re: Satellite A40 - hard drive error - will not start

My friend bought this laptop in April 2007 and has been very happy with it until about a month when he stopped startup in windows xp.

At the start, she now gets the message

"PXE - E61 media test failure - check the cable for.
"PXE - M0F outgoing intel boot agent"
    "Insert system disk in drive."
"Press a key when you are ready.

and then the laptop does not start in windows.

I thought that the hard drive can have detached, so I took it out and he handed in a State, but in vain.

I also tried to reinstall with the recovery CD but get the following error message

I ran a Toshiba (or he could have Hitachi) utility disk that I burned on a cd and went up on the audit boot.

It said there are problems on Toshiba MK4025GAS, which is the hard drive. details coincide with what it actually says on the disc.

The BIOS sees the drive start on as he is listed as the master, with the cd as the secondary drive.
Therefore, is it true that the drive is broken. If so - can it be repaired or is there another solution.

I tried Googling the error message and there are conflicting messages on this issue, so your help would be very appreciated.
It seems crazy that the reader can break after only 18 months - was there a defective batch?

If that's the case Toshiba offers a replacement or it will cost a lot?

    Thank you

In your case, the HARD drive is certainly defective and you need to replace. Satellite A40 is pretty old laptop without guarantee valid and there is no replacement from Toshiba.

Just buy a new HARD drive. Hard drives for this good old classic are not more expensive.

  • Satellite A200-1AI - Windows has detected the hard drive error

    Hi guys.

I think its time I replaced my hard drive. Ive done all the checks and his return there is no errors with the hard disk, yet whenever I connect I get a message saying that there is.

I guess that's only a matter of time before things get more serious.
Its just now that it unattached restarts automatically.
Ive gave my laptop below specifications and the specifications of the hard disk drive.
I do not know which drive hard im supposed to be looking at.

I don't want to buy one and then duty send because its incompatiable.
Ive done some reading on the internet and he says I cn buy any production, but I need to know wheather its an IDE or SATA, what are these and what do mean? How can I find out what my current car?

Also should I look for a hard drive with the same speed? It doesn't matter if its fatser?
Wise, capacity is also ok for larger, will my laptop be able to handle it. Thanks for help

    Hello

The Satellite A200 supports the SATA HDD controller.
That's why you need to buy a SATA 2.5 HARD.
The value of the rmp is not really important for compatibility issues with the 4200 RPM HDD or more is possible and compatible.

SATA controller not limited to any size of HARD drive, you can also use large drives.

  • HARD drive error message appears on my Satellite C

I received the following message a week ago, it says error on the controller on hardisk1.
    Any solution please?

Your HARD drive is SMART failure to predict who monitors the HARD drive, operating status.
Your HARD drive is facing a problem and CHIP controlling the software predicts that the HARD drive will fail.

Toshiba strongly recommends that you create a backup for the data on your HARD drive.
Contact an authorized service provider to check your drive and buy a new drive for replacement if necessary.

    Hello

I think the message says it all:
The HARD drive fitness was checked and it looks like some problems were detected

I recommend to save important data in case the HARD drive was going to die, you could restore again to leave another HARD drive, disk or flash memory

  • Satellite Pro A120 - Second hard drive on secondary IDE channel

    Hello

    I have a Satellite Pro A120 xp sp3.
I tried so it can recognize a 2nd hard drive on the secondary ide channel, but it will not. CD player has been removed and replaced by one of them, the with the pata to sata interface.

    [http://newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_27&produc ts_id = 245]

The second hard drive is a 500 GB seagate sata drive. Drive is spinning and powered but not appearing is not in the Manager of management or storage device.

In the Bio (uptodate), it shows me it but won't let me change it.

    The readers of e/s
Built on the disk HARD = serial ATA port 0
    CD rom = secondary ide (170H - IRQ 15)

For me, the material is able to support two HARD drives that you remove the cd player, but it seems that the bio is me locking out the deselection of CD-ROM on the second IDE channel.
Please could someone point me in the right direction to solve this problem.

    Thank you
    Zander

    Hello

I read this story carefully and to be honest I m not sure if a second HDD (instead of the STRANGE) can be used

My knowledge the IDE second controller does support all the ODD (CD/dvd drive) due to different master/slave/c-salt settings.
I think it's the same case, why the second HDD is not recognized correctly
