HARD drive in PIO mode - very slow

Anyone else have a HD Sentinel message - or another HARD drive test, that HARD is only in PIO mode, not in Ultra DMA? It's really slow.
It can be verified, my computer - property - materials - IDE ATA/ATAPI - IDE elementary or secondary school - property - Special - if the watch - PIO transfer mode you have the same problem.
If Ultra DMA 1-5, you have no problem.

If anyone has a solution, please report it. Thank you.

When the primary IDE controller is set to PIO mode, the audio may be distorted or the system can boot and run slowly. To resolve this issue, reinstall the primary IDE channel device driver. Primary IDE controller transfer mode will reset to default DMA.

  • Recovery using HP disks to install 2 hard drives in place of very low partitions on both disks, now what?

HPm9400z crashed and I thought that it is a good time to put in a bigger hard drive.  Installed a 1000 g and 300g original discs.  I used the recovery disks that I sent there for (recovery hard disk does not work) to start a new one.  Install windows on the new drive of 1000g.  Recovery went well, windows vista, it works...  BUT hard drives now only shows 50g and 15g each.  How can I fix it?  I tried to make a bootable DVD to reformat the drive HARD 2 (old school?)  but could not figure out how to do this in Vista.  Any suggestions?  Or should I just get a Mac?

Go to administrative tools-> computer management, and then select on the left disk management. Fully develop the window. You can try the right mouse click on your C drive and you should see a selection of Extend.  You could also a space not formatted in the main window.

  • library in grid mode very slow navigation

I just switched from Aperture to Lightroom, and one of the main differences is that browsing photos in Lightroom is much slower. I opening I 50000 photos and it was working fine, now in Lightroom, I have only 2000 and the grid view is extremely slow.

When I scroll down, the small thumbnails load slowly in 3 steps: first images very pixelated, then a little more net and finally the final thumbnail. When I scroll down to see the 20 pictures, it takes up to 1 second to load. It's extremely boring...

In addition, when I am constantly scrolling, use the Lightroom UC is up to 200%.

I have a the last Macbook Pro w / 4 GB RAM so that shouldn't be a problem.

Is it normal for Lightroom or am I missing something? My only comparison is the opening that was extremely fast and do not use a lot of CPU when scrolling.

    Thank you

It's annoying, but Lightroom is control through each of the files to check if the metadata and previews are updated. It is one of the areas that have been the improvement of Adobe as part of the interactive performance changes in Lr3 beta.

  • Satellite M30: Hard drive extremely slowly

    Hello!

I'm from Germany, so excuse my mistakes!

A few months ago, I bought a used satellite M30 laptop. I'm right with the seller on the guarantee, because he said it has 1.5 years and then it should still be under warranty.

Now my problem is that the hard drive (Toshiba MK6021GAS) became very slow. It's playback with a speed of only 2.5 MB/sec. I tested it with HD Tune tool. I already checked on the internet and it should be much faster. My extern harddrive has a speed of around 28-30 MB/sec, so I use most of the stuff on this one for now.

I would like to know if there is still hope to fix (perhaps even by myself) or if I have to buy a new hard drive.
There are 2 remarkable things I've done, which may have an influence on it.
    1. the seller in portable format whole before selling it, so I had to use the recovery CDs system to make it work again.

    2. I changed one of the blocks of 256 MB of RAM with a 512 MB RAM block, that I bought for my previous laptop. I checked if the new RAM worked well and the list of hardware as it shows correctly.

    Hello

The RAM will be shown, but are you sure that the new module has the same bus as the original speed?

I recommend you to preinstall the device with the recovery media and check the HARD disk activity. Also, test it without second RAM. If the HARD disk is running slowly again contact the Service partner and let them verify properly. If the disk dies HARD drive will be replaced.

  • Tecra A8-185 HARD drive works only in PIO and DVD in UDMA2 mode

How to change the HARD drive in UDMA mode? I can't do this in Windows XP...

    The BIOS update was made.

    Hello

DMA or PIO mode can be changed in the Manager of devices-> IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.
You will find the primary and secondary IDE channel.
In the properties, you will find the settings.

But everything has to be set to DMA if available

  • Hard drives will not remain in mode 'sleep'

For two weeks, something strange happens. My hard drives in sleep mode and out instantly. They will not remain in mode 'sleep'. Any hour of delay, I place, they will behave like this. So even if I place a time to sleep 1 minute, you will hear them go to sleep and instantly out every minute, without interruption. It's used to work perfectly before for months. I have not installed anything again (with the exception of Windows updates). I checked with performance monitor, if something is accessing the disks, but there is no drive activity whatsoever. I also tried to stop the process as much as possible, but that did not help either. The only thing I've changed three weeks ago was my graphics (Radeon 6850 to GTX580) but I'm not sure that the problem started then. Only two weeks ago, I noticed the issue. If anyone else has experienced something like this?

  • Satellite P215 get SMART failure on hard drive

    Hello

I've had my laptop for a year now, and just recently, I noticed everything using that everything has become much slower and more something else that I couldn't run as much multitasking I could before without the screen freeze and have to wait until he gets treated. The level of multitasking is not serious, I mean that a laptop of this caliber should be able to have a streaming of youtube video play without problem as both messenger and Microsoft Word have. Recently, it has been quite frustrating and makes me want to throw computer laptop in the room, but I persevere. Moreover, I also realized that the game I used to play works is no longer (I wonder if it's the same question)

I formatted the hard drive and installed windows vista (with the CD that was given to me when I bought the computer) and the first time he had actually installation problems I had to do it twice. The second time it has installed fine and it worked for a week and then it started to slow down terribly again.

After restart the computer message popped up indicating SMART: failure on hard drive Hitachi-(s1) 4, so I followed the instructions given by another thread with a similar problem. I tried the hitachi Drive Fitness Test and the program would not even load, it would get to the point where it says «Loading DFT»... ' and he would just stay there... I guess that is not compatible with Vista or something.

What can I do in addition to evidence of the replacement of the hard drive? The cause of the downturn from the computer to the bass and the game does not work because of the HD about to fail? If there is a way to solve this problem, I would like to know

    Thank you
    Michael

In my view the HARD disk, you should be exchanged and Yes, it could be the reason why the computer slows down, and some games do not work.
I had the same problem a few years ago on my desktop PC computer is very slow and I can t install a game. Whenever I tried it, I got a BSOD. Then I switched the HARD drive and everything worked very well.

I put t know why the Drive Fitness Test does not start on your computer, but if you get a SMART error HARD drive should be exchanged permanently.

If your laptop is under warranty, you must contact an ASP. Then the repair should be free.

    Good luck!

  • G71 340US hard drive replacement/upgrade questions

I have a hard drive that is dying a slow death.  Only, I ordered a new hard drive for this laptop update a few minutes previously, literally and noticed a difference on the product page of the etailer between the title of the HDD that I ordered and the specifications for it.  The title indicated that the replacement of the hard drive is a SATA 3.0, but the specs seem to indicate that the hard drive is a SATA 6.0.  After doing my research, I know that the G71 340US laptop comes with a SATA 3.0, so I know not, at the very least, it supports SATA 3.0.

So here are my questions: the G71 340US laptop does support SATA 6.0?  If it isn't, the drivef that I just bought will be retro-compatible with this laptop?

There is no such a thing, to date anyway, which is called SATA6.

I guess you mean SATA600 instead.

SATA600 is the same specification as SATA3. A hard drive of SATA600 is interchangeable with a disc spec SATA3.

  • RN3220 of volumes of hard drive in red

    Hello

This device is the end user, so I'm helping to solve the problems and try to recover the data. All files are video CCTV. Of what I was said, all 12 drives are kept after the backup is complete. These hard drives will be retained for one year, if one day user insert all the hard drives to recover a video, but they can't. Folders appear, but it is not because of the spelling of the name.

Then I login the admin page and saw that all of the hard drive is in red. The only setting that I can do is to format the drive. In the admin page, I clicked on the Diagnostics and some error logs appeared. I will attach a screenshot to make it more clear. In any case, this unit is used in the local network, no network is connected at all.

Please help suggest what can I do to retrieve the data. If you need more information, please let me know. Thank you very much.

    Hello

I guess that it none exactly how to retrieve all the hard drive in normal mode. But I figured out how to recover the data, at least:

    1. go to the start menu

    2. choose Start Volume read-only

    3. copy all the necessary files

In this way helps me to me to recover files, but if you have a lot of files and large size, you need another games on hard drive to copy all of the files.

My old toshiba (MK5065GSX) 500 GB hard drive became too noisy and slow so I plan to replace it with the new drive hard toshiba (MK5059GSXP) 500 GB.

I created USB Flash HARD drive recovery.
When the installation is complete and Setup installs devices an error "Windows Setup couldn't configure windows to run on a hardware on this computer.

I loaded by default in the bios
I changed the SATA AHCI mode to compatibility IDLE

assistance in this regard will be highly appreciated

Set the BIOS to the default settings and try again.

With the installation of recovery, there is a problem: either it works or not. If this isn't the case, bad luck and the only solution for you is to order original Toshiba recovery DVD on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

By the way: do you use that stick of recovery for the first time?

  • How to activate the faults COMMITTED to an internal SATA hard drive, but not the other, on Vista Home Premium 32-bit?

I have a set of 17-inch laptop 2008 which contains two hard drive bays internal, purchased in June.  It came with a single hard drive (traditional spinning disc).  It is running Service Pack 2, Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.

My SATA controller is an Intel 82801GBM/GHM (ICH7-M family); I think it's a first-generation SATA controller (1.5 Gbps).

I received recently a 160 GB Intel X - 25 M SSD (second generation SATA, but it is fully compatible with the first generation controllers, without additional or jumpers configuration) as a gift from my wife.  I removed my first hard drive completely, installed the SSD in the main Bay and installed Windows, drivers and the Intel SSD utility.  I then reinstalled my HDD original in the second span, completely wiped and reformatted it as a partition; It currently contains my music and other multimedia files.

The utility Intel SSD tells me I should activate DIPM for my SSD as opposed to HIPM.  This seems to take a bit of tinkering to make Vista, and my situation is further complicated by the presence of my HARD drive (original) secondary, which prefer to use HIPM.

I read the article on the Microsoft Web site on editing the registry to activate the misconduct, and it's something I would feel comfortable doing. However, I don't want my SSD to use DIPM, my HARD drive is expected to continue to use HIPM, and I was afraid that the proposed fix would allow the misconduct for all readers.

Could someone let me know how I can activate DIPM for my SSD while continuing to use HIPM to my HARD drive, I'd be very grateful.

EDIT: My Maintenance of SSD utility said simply that the State of the settings DIPM/HIPM "could not be determined." if Vista automatically selects the correct setting and the SSD utility does not just understand that, which makes my life a lot easier. but it would be nice to know for sure, so I can forget it all (if Vista already defined for me) or change the setting (if Vista did not automatically choose food appropriate for each disk management mode).

You will need two SATA controllers: both on board or an edge and the other on PCI - E.

Configure one who does not need TRIM/DIPM (do not use a SSD) as non-AHCI (compatible IDE/ATA-6) in the BIOS and the other (where TRIM/DIPM will be used) as AHCI.

Connect the drive to which you DIPM AHCI controller. See http://www.abxzone.com/forums/f155/tip-how-enable-dipm-ssds-windows-120968.html for more information.
