Hard drive is ruining my CD.

Help me - please! I just bought 2 new CD and I wanted to add to my 'Windows Media Player', but when I tried to "rip" them something strange happened - ruined somehow CD player the CD. I put it to 'reject CD when finished ripping' so I would know when I needed to change the CD. I haven't heard anything for a while and when I got back to my computer (inspiron 1520) the CD drive (drive D) was just clicking and up. I manually eject the CD and tried to have just to listen to my new purchase - IT APPEARED to HAVE BEEN DELETED! During the Visual inspection of the disc, I noticed that she had "smooth" areas, about 1-2 mm. width, separated by ridges - no music.

I'm sick, feel stupid and do not understand what is happening. I tried as much as I can to do to re - initialize 'default' endless.

Someone - through me a lifeline.

Thank you

Hi oliver4life,

As I mentioned above, CDs may be overwritten. So there is nothing wrong with these CD.

This error code indicates that your DVD player must be replaced.

If you encounter the same problem with it on different machines, it seems to be a flaw in the hard drive itself.

  • Windows 10 ruined my hard drive

Last night, I tried to download windows 10. I have a version pre-installed Windows 7. I was told that I could get a free upgrade for windows 10. I clicked to start the download and went through the entire process until the very last section where it asks you the product key number. I put the number correctly but it says it's a mistake, however, he said I could jump so I clicked next and nothing at all. Now all I have is the blue screen with the box of product keys and the next button and I can not even click anything to get rid of it. I turned my pc market but I find myself on the same page. Now, I've lost all my documents, music, photos, etc. I put an old hard drive in my computer to use at the moment. Help!

    Tony

Tell us the model of your PC /brand, and we can tell you how to trigger the factory restore.  Restore factory destroys all data on the disk.  So before do you the factory restore, find a friend who can temporarily install your old drive in an external USB connected hard drive enclosure.  Then, with this drive connected to another PC, you can access and copy data from it where ever you choose.

The tester for the Seagate drive is located at:

    http://www.Seagate.com/ca/en/support/downloads/item/SeaTools-win-master/

If this drive is operational, it has the factory restore on it.  If you do not have a valid product key, it is the way to go.  Once you have the factory recovery is complete, you can then make a copy of the system image of the drive to an external drive or on a set of DVD + R (non - Rs).

Then you can delete the original disc, install a new one.  Then using a system repair CD, you can use it to restore the image as you did on the old drive to the new drive.

If you need more detailed instructions on all of this, just ask.

  • Pass water damaged hard drive Macbook Pro (mid-2010) to another Macbook Pro (mid-2010)?

Someone accidentally spilled water on my MacBook Pro 'Core i7' 2.66 GHz 15 "mid-2010 and after trying to dry out for a few days, I'm sure that the keyboard is in ruins, and it may be worse (I suspect the logic board like most people), but I need to (would really) keep my documents etc. However, we happen to have an another i7 2.66 GHz 15 "mid 2010 Macbook Pro lying around not being used. I'm a student in computer engineering and I'm pretty good with electronics and figure, that I can use the practice, so I was planning on trying to replace the keyboard myself, but I plan on getting a new MBP in the next few months, so I'd rather do less work if possible. MY MAIN QUESTION IS: since I'm very lucky and I have two little nearly exact same model MBP can put the hard drive of the damaged water MBP (also long the HDD no is not damaged by water) in the MBP running? And if so, what would be my challenges and if it works well enough to use for a month or two? Thank you!

TLDR: I can take a HDD on a MBP and put it in a similar model without too much difficulty?

Yes, but you're probably better to put in an envelope instead. If you start another Mac, or in an enclosure closed or internally, a very small number of parameters will not be postponed, and some commercial programs may refuse to run.

  • Satellite C850 - suspected hard drive failure

I have a Toshiba C850 15.6 inch 750GB 8 GB. It's a little more than two years. At the start, it displays the automatic repair of message preparation followed quickly diagnose your PC. Eventualy followed in another message, C drive repair. This about 6 hours total (schedules for each message varies). After this, another message appears on a blue background indicating
your PC is not started correctly.
Tap on restart to reboot your PC which can sometimes solve the problem. Alternatively, you can press options to try other options to fix your PC

Each option translates the screen fading, but leaving the original message in the background for 2 hours or more
This happens even if you try to start in safe mode or recovery discs.

Please note I am very far from being a computer expert, but have family who may be able to help me while 200 miles away so maybe wait a while.

I got the same message of diagnostic Pc and it takes ages to complete. I don't really know why, but Windows 8 tends to have its problems, if that's what you have. Mine is over 2 years old and it might freeze or run slowly. In the end, I gave my laptop a slap and it ruined the entire hard drive. I just buy a new hard drive and try to figure out how to get Windows installed again. So basically if your computer is tempramental, I would back up data as soon as possible. This is the error that I did not do. Then think about buying a new hard drive.

  • I have a HP Pavilion 500-267C, can I install a second hard drive in this PC?

My turn XP no longer works, but there is some information on the hard drive I want to recover my present

PC uses the Windows 7 operating system. Can my old hard drive be installed in the new HP without ruining the new

computer or the old hard drive?

Yes, implying that the old disks hard XP is in good health.

You can use a USB external hard shore caddy for the old disk or you can directly connect via the SATA port on your motherboard you new computer. 99% of the time there will be connections of additional power from the power supply on your new machine to feed the old drive.

All of this assumes that the old drive is SATA interface _ we IDE, in which case you would need an adapter to connect directly to the new MoBo computers.

I don't think that even though you can check to make sure there is no IDE USB external hard drive caddies.

The top is SATA and the bottom is IDE.

  • Screen LCD HP w1907 and placement of external hard drive.

I was wondering if my new set-up is safe. I mounted my monitor on a wall bracket and I have a drive external hard iOmega 1 TB on a half inch behind it. Is this safe, or will I have to move the hard disk so as not to affect the performance of each device? I don't want something bad happens or, but especially not the hard drive. I'm including two pictures so you can see what I mean. You'll excuse the mess, because I just finished the installation, a few minutes ago. A picture is a front view, to show what looks like the establishment. The other is a side view, so you can see what kind of game I'm talking about. The hard drive and monitor do not touch each other, but it's less than an inch between the two, and like I said before, I don't want to take any chances on ruining the monitor or the hard drive. Thanks in advance for any input you can give me.

Thanks for a quick reply Aussie. The pictures she showed not too well, but there is a gap of 1 inch between the top of the screen and the bottom of the shelf I rode slot, maybe a little more. I made sure to leave enough space for the power button as well as I wanted it to have the appearance to be suspended in the air, more or less. I'm not really worried about the heat out of the hard drive, because this is only on the top, which is closer to the screen, BUT, I have a small bedside fan that I mounted in the thread hole to extract hot air out, and it works fine. The upper part of the hard drive gets that warm now, rather than being about to burn a helping hand when I had put it on the desktop, on the side walk.

My main concern had to do with magnetic things, which apparently does not apply to LCDs, because this configuration has worked very well since I had finished it. I think that only applies to CRT monitors, because everything I pulled hard in the last week and a half the disk worked fine!

Thanks again for the quick response!

  • DV7-4280us - Bay of disk HARD 2nd vacuum has no visible connection to a 2nd HARD drive.

My laptop Pavilion DV7 and previous DV8 had two bays for HARD drives, one of them wired to a hard drive, but not containing is not a hard disk at the time of purchase.  I expect the same thing when I ordered this Pavilion DV7-4280us, which is, I think, made in China, but I have not the same.  This one came without visible connectors for the hard drive, I had already bought to install into the empty Bay.  My Technical Support call made me advice to buy a disc kit hard (with caddy & connections) from HP, as if the receive connectors were available in the drive Bay HARD vacuum.  I didn't not agree because (and the next two paragraphs I added so that the well-intentioned forum members continue to give me the standard answer for laptops which actually have the usual connectors & waiting in the drive Bay HARD 2nd vacuum.  I appreciate the two forum members who have offered help so far, but there is no need to waste more based on my failure to clarify the problem):

There is NO METAL NAKED INTO THE BAY VOID that COULD CONNECT a HARD disk.
UNLESS A NEW CONNECTOR GOES TO THE MOTHERBOARD HARD DRIVE, IT IS USELESS FOR THIS COMPUTER.

Each HARD drive connector I've seen only connects the HARD drive to a connector in the HARD drive Bay.

The connector of the latter reaches the motherboard, and that the connector does not exist in this 2nd computer HARD disc Bay.

Even if I could get a cable to connect a HARD drive to an unused connection & waiting on the M-Board, I can't M-Board.  M-Board is inside a barrier which could be called the bottom of the laptop - external surface of the portable computer.  (Battery and bays for HARD drives are outside the confines of the current computer, the value in their own hollow spaces in the bottom panel, with secondary coverage on the hollow spaces, i.e. the bays for HARD drives and storage media).  I looked for a way really open the casing and expose the M-Council connection for 2nd HARD drive (IF it exists); but I didn't know how to do it.  It is clear to me that this is not intended to be a facility run by the user. But I would if HP (or maybe even a 3rd party who made it) provided some good instructions.

I'd like to think that HP did not make this change to the line DV7 laptops to double HARD drive, and that the Chinese manufacturer made the change without approval or even knowledge of the management of HP.  I want to believe that because he was, at best, a really stupid thing for HP to the customers who pay for the best HP can provide.

So my questions are the following:

    1. The motherboard in this computer still has the ability to manage a 2nd hard drive?
    2. If 'NO', then HP would be willing to take over this very disappointing computer in Exchange to a DV7 which is equipped with HARD drive connectors available in the 2nd, empty, Bay?
    3. If 'YES', then
    4. HP or someone else would be willing to provide connectors, and instructions for me,
    5. OR install the missing connection to the drive for me, Bay
    6. While, in both cases 4 or 5, I can install a HARD drive in the Bay, empty 2nd drive reasonably, I expected when I ordered this computer?

All my apologies and thanks to KaLin0908, who responded so quickly and helped me realize that my original description was not clear enough.  I hope that my changes to clarify the problem have not ruined the tone of my call.  I'm aiming for "clear and grateful."  If this revision reads as Loud or Yelling or abrasive or anything else bad, I'd appreciate any suggestions to improve it.

    I have the same computer.

At first seems like you say but

If you look carefully the second Bay of hd, you will see 4 small holes

Those who are for the hard drive caddy, you can buy that and it's expensive

You should also buy a hd cable, but be careful, there must be about 5 inches long

The cable for 1 hard disk does not work

One end goes on the hard drive and the other going to the MB. The connection is planned

    for the memory modules

The kit costs about $ 45. If bought at hp and about 35 if purchased by another company

    http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?Main_Page=product_info&products_id=345

This will give you an idea of where/how the screws connect to the caddy

    4. connect the hd to the caddy /ssd

    4. connect the housing inside the laptop

  • Windows 7 can not "see" the files on my external hard drive all of a sudden after I used ICACLS to give me full control.

I used ICACLS in a command prompt high to give me all permissions for all on the external hard drive. I do not share the disk or remove permissions from any other 'user' but all of a sudden the guest not to see the files on the disc and I don't know what to do about it. But when I open a window and go outside, the files are there, I can access it, use them in all cases, I would normally.

Anyone has an idea why an elevated command prompt would not be able to see the files that are clearly on the external hard drive? There is just something not right on command prompt, you see only not the files that are there.

    Thanks in advance

Update: it turns out that there seems to be some kind of conflict between the UAC and the Administrators group. Don't know how I was touched, but I finally finished refusing authorization in writing system on my external hard drive. Suddenly Builtin Administrator, users of Builtin and NT Authority stood, one of them, or another group, resumed training, locked read-only access to all files, and then he took it a little further and removed my ability to write attributes or read them. I was forced to use a back up 'Admin I have on standby with a third I reapplied my main administrator permissions, but still denied access. After doing things with ICACLS, I was able to get a partial control, but I still couldn't save.

At the end of the road, it turns out that an external hard drive formatted in NTFS is recognized by the computer as a disk fixed, as if it were part of the computer, and there it was treated as such, given my file system files by locking the.

Even with the hidden Builtin Administrator I activated, I couldn't access the files. I finally had to move all the girls to the drive c:\ and format the external drive with exFat so that the system do not think that he was part of the computer. Unfortunately, I can never depend on having a System Image backup because exFat cannot have a writing for her.

I have full access, as well as anyone and everyone, there is no permissions on exFat, so it's a compromise, better than the system for the control of my own computer ruined combat...

  • Formatting a hard drive to shorten its life/wear OFF?

I formatted my computer Windows XP 32-bit, because people are complaining of an outdated OS and their "stuff" does not work with XP. So I decided to install Windows 7 Ultimate OS x 86, but my computer doesn't handle very well the new 7-Ultimate and interpreted wrong and more slowly when my computer was still XP, so I decided to format the drive again and try 7-Home Premium x 86 OS. I'm very happy with it because it worked better than Ultimate, but still a little slower that when I had XP, but has its improvements, until I heard the news than the software that I had to install (I own a coffee needed for installation of a coffee management software and internet) is only compatible with the Windows 7 Professional x 86 operating system. I really want to format the drive again because I need this software to manage my coffee well, but the problem is, I've been formatting my hard drive permanently, it will damage my computers disks?

    TL; DR
Day 1: formatting, XP to ultimate.
Day 2: formatting, Ultimate to Home Premium.
Day 3: about to format, Home Premium edition to professional.

The question is: these common formats to ruin hard drives from my computer? I researched some say yes, some say that it is not. I'm not really sure what it is and I want answers from a professional computer technology. Thank you.

Reformatting of drives made little difference in their lives.

Upgrade Windows XP to Windows 7 on hardware designed for Windows XP is likely to raise problems of performance. You should evaluate the material to see what influential elements on the performance of the system and if any item can be easily upgraded.

  • Can't access 2nd HARD drive on the Pavilion p6220nl?

I had installed a second HDD SATA in my Pavilion p6220nl desktop computer by unplugging the DVD/CD player with its SATA data and power cables.  He succeeded and I was using my regular hard drive so my new drive to HARD drive for several weeks.

Once my new SATA cable arrived, I tried to reinstall my DVD/CD player that I had also only 2 SATA power connectors.  Instead I tried to use very low power for the new HARD drive connector.  Result, I can not access my new HARD drive.  I tried back (i.e. unplugged my DVD/CD drive again and using this SATA power connector instead) and it still won't go.

I updated my BIOS and tried everything I can think of, but without success.  If anyone can help?  Is there indeed a Molex Pin 4--> adapter SATA connector?  Could I have ruined my new HARD drive with the two small connector and power cables attached SATA power connector?  Is there a specific SATA ports they need to go in.

    Currently the situation is now:

SATA Slot 0 - drive DVD/CD (data cable connected only)

1 - usual HD SATA connector

SATA connector 2 - new HARD drive

    Slot SATA 3 - empty

    Appreciate any advice or assistance.

    Thank you

    Stephen

As you said, you had it working. Then attached a unknown thread on the disc. Now, reconnect to a wiring known, that worked. Don't know, don't worry. The car was damaged. Sorry!

  • Replacing the hard drive - slight tremor/movement (in the appropriate size/spec drive)

    Question:

What's the problemmatic if the replacement of the hard disk does not precisely snug in the drive Bay?

IE - if it is very slight tremor or movement.

If so, any suggestions on how to tighten up to made it?

    Background:

The computer in question is a new Thinkpad X 201 Tablet (which is a great little machine).

I upgraded my hard drive of the stock 320 GB of Western Digital Scorpio Black 500 GB drive.

The new hard drive sizes are approximately the same as the drive in stock - standard 2.5 "disk, (9.5 mm height, 100 mm deep).

When I replaced the drive, however, I realized that there is a slight difference in size between the stock and the upgrade command, perhaps slightly less 1 mm wide.

This is equivalent to a bit of rigtht movement left - not much, but enough to describe it as a light earthquake.

I replaced the drive according to the instructions, using the rails of rubbers in the same way that training has been mounted.

The functions of player very well, but I'm afraid that the subtle move would ruin the connection over time - which is a valid concern?

If so, suggestions on how to enhance this little movement?

Then I simple by some rubber thing from the hardware store, clean it carefully and then "seat" the sides until the agitation has disappeared? Or are there different thicknesses of rubber rails that you can buy?

    Thanks in advance!

    Farfan, welcome to the forum,

you don't mention her, I felt the need to ask that he would also make a difference; did transfer the metal from the old to the new drive?  Inserting a disc without the caddy would make it seem a bit wavy.

  • Optimal hard drive installation for 3D and animations CS6?

Hello, I am trying to understand the best way to separate the following in different hard disks for better performance...

    -OS (probably Windows 7 or 8 64-bit)

    -Exchange page OS disc

    -Programs (Cinema4D and Adobe CS6)

    -Adobe Media/Disk Cache

    -Project files

    Source/import data files

    -Render/output data files

    So far, I think...

-An internal SATA3 SSD for the OS, OS swap, programs, Adobe Media Cache

-An internal SATA2 HDD for the project and Source/import data files

-USB3 one external HARD drive to render/output files

I wonder if separating the files of a different way would be more optimal, or if adding several SDD HDDs for the Page file and the Media Disk Cache would be us is worth the money. In particular, the OS, OS swap file, programs and media Cache must be divided into different readers?

Here's what I recommend as a starting point for a good system.

    C: System (Windows programs)

    D: projects

    E: cache/Scratch/Previews

    F: media

    G: export

Let alone the pagefile.  You won't see any advantage to move and could potentially ruin things if you do not set this right.

Now I have updated the Protection of hard drive, such as recommended by the ThinkVantage System Update to Version 1.77.0.5.

Since then, I get an error message during startup: "2102: error detection on HDD2 (SATA Mini).» Press ESC to continue. "After ESC the machine starts.

But ExpressCache doesn't work anymore. On the command line the command eccmd.exe - info says "* ERROR * ECCmd required peripheral is not available: 2

I guess, the update of the ruined the ExpressCache HD-protection - hide.

How can I fix ExxpressCache? All eccmd.exe options, it returns the error message above.

    Thanks for your help!

    awehring,

    You see the error message:

«2102: error detection on HDD2 (SATA Mini).» Press ESC to continue. »

is from the BIOS.  You say that the mSATA SSD (or the port that it attached) is bad.

I recommend you call the support phone number in your country to apply for warranty repair.

The update of the software APS could not cause this, given that the APS software runs only under Windows.  You see the error message is BIOS.  I think it is purely a coincidence that HW failure is apparently happened as you updated the software of the APS.
