Hard drive recovery or support removes all other partitions?

If I create an extra partition on my HP Pavilion hard drive and use a drive letter F: to store data and then use the partition recovery or media to restore to factory settings, my data secure or the recovery procedure to format the entire hard drive?  Thank you

Depends on what version of HP Recovery Manager, you have installed. On some newer models, there are different options in Recovery_Ssytem recovery, reduced, Image Recovery Factory Reset. If your recovery manager has no additional options, then Yes, it will remove all of the partitions added. Better to use the external USB hard drive for important files.

It is a description of the different features available in the Recovery Manager. It is available mainly on new laptops, but I've seen some reports of it on desktop computers. My most recent HP desktop computer didn't.

  • Satellite U400-22z - how to remove the HARD drive recovery partition

    Hallo,

My satellite u400-22z came with a big "hdd recovery" folder on the drive hard - yes I know what it does.
but the unbearably awful version of windows vista that came with the machine made me decide that, in the event of failure of the system, I'm still will not install this failure of the attempt of an operating system.
So I do not have these data recovery.

So those ~ 11 GB of junk sitting on my drive is bugging me, I can't delete the folder HDDRecovery, it is somehow protected against deletion.

How can I work around that?

Also, is it safe or can I make it safe, to use the small apparently hidden partition (that's recovery also?) I found, which is IIRC ~ 2 GB or larger, for own purposes, without destroying my current installation of windows?

    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

    Hello

If you have a recovery disk and you do not want to store the folder in hard drive hard disk recovery, you can remove it.

    > I can't remove the folder HDDRecovery, it is somehow protected against deletion.

Remove you it as you always do to remove all files on your system.

  • two hard drives, one with vista and the other with XP and you want to remove second disk XP

I have a hard drive that came with my computer and vista on it, I added a second drive to my bench that has XP on it. I want to remove the second XP disc and simply use it as a storage drive, and I'm afraid that if I try and uninstall XP disc, it allows to uninstall vista of the first hard drive instead. or should I even try and uninstall it all and just delete all files? Since there is nothing in the registry for all the things on the second disc. If I uninstall XP second drive will be there remove all of that second drive? because there are a few things about this, I still want to keep. I should also mention that it is divided into three separate letters, if I do not uninstall XP I lose all three of these letters of partitioned drive? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

You can just uninstall XP. Anyway, as you say, you can remove the folder Program Files and Windows in that partition but personally I would just copy the files I need to another partition (on the hard drive where vista is installed) and the format of the old HDD.

  • Instead of the wizard of recovery HARD drive recovery

    Dear all,

I would like to re - install the OS on my Satellite Pro T130 laptop without changing the partitions. This is possible with the http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD1303440001R02.htm Recovery Wizard

However, when I boot my laptop with the Advanced Boot Menu (F8), I think the recovery menu of disk in the System Recovery Options, no recovery Wizard.

I tried to start this wizard by starting the computer with the button zero (0) at the top, but it did not work. I closed the windows, pushed and held 0, turned on my laptop, when Toshiba logo appeared I sill held the key zero and instead of the Recovery Wizard, open windows.

I tried at least 10 times and it's getting frustrating.

I bought this laptop in Hungary in 2010.
I was wondering that Toshiba offers the two (HDD Recovery + Recovery Wizard) on their laptops or older laptops recovery options came with only HDD Recovery?

If the start procedure with the zero key does not work, what can I do?

In addition, I understand the difference between HARD drive recovery and Recovery Wizard is as follows: (please, correct me if I'm wrong)

HARD drive recovery is re-definition of the manufacturer State which means that it removes all the data in each partition. When you turn on the laptop first time computer, a wizard will appear so you can partition the hard drive. As out-of-box + customization option in the Recovery Wizard.

Recovery Wizard has three options: out of area (described previously), customization of partitions and recovery without changing the hard drive partitions. I want to use this option, so will not delete all the data of the first partition of the hard disk (drive C). Is no data on other partitions like D, E (etc.) readers.

    Am I wrong?

    Thank you for your answers,

    Kind regards

    Hello

According to the specifications of the laptop this Satellite Pro was offered with the version preinstalled Win7 and Windows XP Home edition recovery DVDs. Win7 preloaded includes preinstalled Toshiba recovery disc creator tool so the laptop owner can create recovery (bootable USB key) media which includes the original image of recovery for Win7. This bootable USB key can be used for recovery image installation if there is a problem with the installation of HARD drive recovery.

As I see you have a problem with the installation of HARD drive recovery, so my question is: did you create this recovery media? You, and you can use it for installing Win7?
    > However, when I boot my laptop with the Advanced Boot Menu (F8), I only find the recovery menu of disk in the System Recovery Options, no recovery Wizard.
Toshiba HDD Recovery option in the system recovery options will be available if phone has settings to factory only.
    > I tried to start this wizard by starting the computer with the button zero (0) at the top, but it did not work. I closed the windows, pushed and held 0, turned on my laptop, when Toshiba logo appeared I sill held the key zero and instead of the Recovery Wizard, open windows.
Why don't you use zero to startup? Where did you find the description that you use NRA to launch the installation of HARD drive recovery? I can see in the document validated by Toshiba, you need to use F8 only. When you use F8 and enter advanced startup options is option fix my computer available or not?
    > I asked Toshiba offers the two (HDD Recovery + Recovery Wizard) of the recovery options on their laptops or older laptops with single HDD Recovery?
All portable Toshiba offered with Win7 preinstalled have Toshiba HDD recovery option but only if they have the factory settings. If the owner of the laptop installation version of the OS option no longer available. In this case, you can install original recovery image using recovery media created.

From my experience, you should only use the out-of-box option. Be careful with the other options. Recover a custom size partition may lose all the data and recovery image too.

More important is: you have a recovery (USB or DVD) media or not?

  • Satellite T130 - how to start HARD drive recovery?

    Hello

Windows 7 was not working properly and I tried to reinstall. However, after the installation, it starts but it does not complete the process and maintains the pc shut down before I could use it. Can I reinstall windows from this folder?

    Hello

You are still able to access the start menu in Windows or Ubuntu installation has been removed and the Windows boot loader?
If so, you are not able to start the HARD drive recovery more

Why? It is very easy: even if you are able to access the files, you can start this feature because the original Windows Start menu of the preinstalled Windows system is necessary to start the HARD drive recovery feature.
So in this case, you need the recovery media (USB key) that you created using Toshiba recovery media creator.

Of course, this could work without installed Windows, but there is no guarantee for this.

But why I m telling you this information? You can find everything in your owner's manual ;)

  • Qosmio F50 - the hard drive recovery?

    Hello

I had a very big problem.
I've made a few changes with my Vista regs and then I was unable to start again.
So, I started the recovery program (second HARD drive), backed up my files and selected whole HARD drive recovery.

Well, now problem - everything was going well, but when I walked into the Vista installation I had to shut down the computer.
Now, when I start up the pc and load Vista I message I need to reinstall my computer again.

Well, they say nothing about how load the recovery file but I have no option for this - only emergency mode, with the support of network, etc., but without recovery emergency. Moreover, when I select emergency mode, I can't load Vista-it says I need to run the Setup in normal mode, which told to re - install. Yep, circle-_-.

    Model: Qosmio F50

Do you think that when I erase all the Vista disc manually - for example with linux, and then start the computer, I get a possibility to load the second part of the drive to start the installation?

Thanks in advance because I'm really despair

    Hello

    > So, I started the recovery program (second HARD drive), backed up my files and selected whole HARD drive recovery.
    I'm a bit confused of m.
How do recover you the laptop?
Have you used the Toshiba HDD recovery option which could be launched by pressing F8, select fix my computer-> Toshiba Recovery?

Usually, it is a procedure how to start the Toshiba HDD recovery.

I guess you didn't create a recovery Toshiba drive in the past is good?
It was a big mistake buddy because the recovery disk would help you in difficult situations

Well, as I said above; You can try to start the HARD drive recovery. If this will not help you I think that you would need a Toshiba Recovery disk.
    You can order it here:

  • Satellite A500 - HARD drive recovery option is no longer available at the F8 Menu

    Hello, this my phone trees.
I reset my Satellite A500 and due to a power failure reset did not finish. When I have inexplicable with F8 I can see HARD drive recovery option, and then must log on my account that I did not at all because of the power failure.
Then I installed a copy of Vista retail, hoping to create an account and be able to retrieve from the HARD drive.
PROBLEM! : Now I don't see the "Recovery disk" option at all.
QUESTION: There must be a way to integrate this option in the windows Startmenu (F8). Can someone help me with this issue? I burn the DVD recovery and the recovery partition is still there.
    Thanks in advance.

More big mistake made you ve, it's that you don't l l create recovery DVD such as recommended by Toshiba.

Why you didn t ask how it works before you do anything?
You've misunderstood with username and account.

Now, when you use your own installation, you need to remove the option for installation of HARD drive recovery and the recovery image can be installed with recovery only DVDs.
    Now, you have two options:
-to order the new recovery DVDs or
d ' use the clean install of the OS.

What do you think of this?
To be honest, I think you need to use Windows 7 on this laptop.

I recommend you to install Win7. Download page for all the necessary drivers, you can find and download from Toshiba

  • HARD drive recovery - Satellite P300-1GQ

Is it possible to perform software factory default recovery or recovery of State out-of-box for my laptop Satellite P300-1GQ?

I ve used Toshiba HDD Recovery Tool and it only formatted the C partition leaving unchanged D partition. Vista works well, that all data on the D partition. I could just format the partition D, but the problem, is that the titled HDD recovery folder is stored on the D partition. Back in 2009 when I bought my laptop, I created the HDD Recovery DVD s by following the instructions. I could use and format the entire hard drive, but the information that I got from tech support in my country told me that the new record of recovery disc HARD would not be created.

I want to just wipe the drive and do a fresh install with new file recovery HARD drive on the drive D partition, in short: right now. Is it possible or not?

    > Is it possible to perform software factory default recovery or recovery of State out-of-box for my laptop Satellite P300-1GQ?

    It is possible:
In doing a recovery of HARD drive or using the recovery disk

As far as I know using the recovery disk disk HARD integer could be formatted and create return to the same State as at the first day of the purchase, it would mean that the folder of HARD disk recovery and HARD drive recovery option should be available even if you use the recovery disk!

  • New hard drive - recovery disks

    Hello

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-3230us running windows 7(64 bit). I was thinking of upgrading my hard drive to an SSD and I was wondering if I could use recovery discs to reinstall Windows 7 and all drivers. I have a new copy of Windows 7 Professional I could use and went to the site of HP driver but don't know what all that I have to download to get everything to work. I saw that there is an option to order recovery media and I was wondering if that would do the same and bring the computer back as the first day I bought it without having to use my copy of Windows 7 Pro me.

    Thank you

    Hello:

Unless you buy the same size (in GB) SSD, as your original hard drive, recovery disks do not work.

What I suggest to users in your situation is the following:

Copy the your C:\ drive SWSetup folder to a portable storage device.  Take a look here because it should contain all the program and driver installation files to install on your PC. Some of the installation of the program files will not be considered on the assumption of your laptop and driver page.

If you have trouble finding drivers, just click on all devices that appear in the device with a little yellow Manager! mark.

Then after material ID for them, and we can let you know that you need to install drivers.

If you don't know how to find the hardware device ID, please read the info at the link below.

    http://www.DeviceDriverFinder.com/blog/device-drivers/how-to-check-the-hardware-ID-for-a-Windows-device

If you don't want to lose your windows 7 license pro on your PC, you can make your own drive of W7 premium family if you can read the product key of MS 25 characters on the bottom of your PC.

    Here's how:

If you can read the Microsoft windows 7 25-character product key, you can download simple Windows 7 ISO files to burn on a DVD for the version of windows that is installed on your PC, and which is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC case.

Burn the ISO with the option to burn the ISO on your DVD burning program and burn it at the slowest possible speed that will allow your program. This will create a bootable DVD.

Or use the installation of Windows 7 USB/DVD tool to compile the ISO file that you download from Digital River. Link and instructions below. You need a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB compilation method.

    http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msstore/HTML/pbPage.Help_Win7_usbdvd_dwnTool

Use 25 characters on the PC product key to activate the installation.

The key will activate a 32 or 64 bit installation.

Then go to the support of the PC and driver page to install the drivers you need.

Link to downloads ISO of W7 is below.

Dell uses the 'standard' of different sellers drive models, but the manufacturers loading a custom firmware on the Dell drives certified to work seamlessly with Dell controllers. Dell firmware update will not work on non Dell readers, even if it's for the exact model.

  • Re: No HARD drive recovery on Satellite S995D-S5374 area

I can't do a recovery disc, it says that there is no HDD Recovery area.

The situation was like that, I wanted to decrease the size of the C drive. I did it with a program and then windows could not start and went to do so more and more.

I used a different windows installation disc 8. I used the reset option. And the computer started as if it was just a box, the only difference was that my files were intact and also my account on win8. Although scores are one in trouble.

Yes, guyes, * please help *. I want my rear disc space and if it is possible to make a recovery disk. As I can access the recovery partition in my computer, can't do a drive recovery here?

p.s. in disk management, when I right click on the partition "Data", it is said that 'Help' and nothing more.

p.p.s. I Satellite S995D-S5374. And there was no disk recovery with it when I bought it.

In recent years, Toshiba doesn't offer recovery discs with new models of laptops with recovery media must be created by the owner of the laptop. It is clearly described in the document s user manuals.

Recovery media can be created if the laptop has only factory settings. As I see that you have changed the structure of the partitions and that was the big mistake. Of course you can do, but at the first recovery media must be created.
