Hardware change

I am running Windows 8 pro and Windows 8.1 Overview. I did a clean instulation of Windows 8 pro for Windows 8.1 pro preview. Currently my computer broke down so I took this for repears, told me that there is a problem with the motherboard and I need to replace it. This mean that I have to reinstall my operating system, and if so can I install a different and use win 8 on a different machine and if not can replace it with another and use win 8 on a different machine.

Hi Sello,

After changing the motherboard, no need to reinstall the operating system, but it can ask the Windows Activation.

You can see the following article from Microsoft for the Windows Activation.

Changes to the hardware, Windows 8

Yes, you can use the same product key on a different computer after you uninstall the existing and if this isn't a computer OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer).

Hope that the information provided is useful.

  • Pavilion x 2: Windows product key Validation after hardware change (new SSD)

I have a Pavilion laptop x 2 with a 64 GB SSD.  It came with Windows 8.1 but he now works Windows 10 - of course.  I decided to upgrade the 256 GB SSD.  I bought the appropriate module (a Sandisk).  I recently contacted Windows support to inquire about the procedure to validate the OS once I did the material exchange.  I wasn't sure how it would work since my x 2 Pavilion has incorporated into BIOS product key.  Microsoft told me that because I was going to do a hardware change I would need a new product key (in other words my laptop current product key would be 'blocked').  I was able to recover the product key of my Pavilion x 2 (OEM and installed keys - what is the difference?).

Does anyone have experience in this field?  Once I have replace the SSD and perform a clean install Windows 10, will be the key to product embedded BIOS validate operating system or it will reject?  Since I'm NOT buying a HP SSD (with preloaded operating system) and that my x 2 Pavilion is now long out of warranty?  I really have to pay over a hundred dollars for a new Windows operating system license?

Thanks in advance for any advice/help.

    Francis

Parameters indicate that I have a digital right so with a bit of luck when I change the SSD and install Windows 10, the machine must validate without a qualm.  I tried to see if I could link my Validation of my Microsoft account but I did not have this option on my settings (although in the past when I re-install Windows 10, link validation of my Microsoft account operating system so I guess it works.)  Also, I guess I have the anniversary edition from my machine updated automatically.

If all else fails, I'll see how it goes after the SSD upgrade and if I have to deal with Microsoft.  I also agree with you that change the SSD (essentially the ' drive') is NOT a significant change in equipment and shall not impose a new product key, but then, nothing surprises me more.

Your tips were helpful and I thank you.

    Hello ShawnKohl,

We can also try to go back to a time where he worked with system restore.

Once this has been done, check the hat of Windows updates are available and hide the audio driver updates that are available.

    System Restore:

    Windows XP - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084

    Windows Vista/7 - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/products/features/system-restore

    Updates of masking:

Please note that in addition to that, the advice of the previous poster remains true: we want to get the latest audio driver on the system of the manufacturer.

  • Request an activation code for Windows due to hardware changes, but nothing has changed. What is going on?

My computer is request an activation code for Windows due to hardware changes but nothing has changed.  What is going on?  This morning firefox did not and went into the Task Manager to see which processes were underway, then he closed the Explorer.  I think I clicked on it by mistake.  Then turn on now that I get this message.

Go ahead and try to activate it? (copy is authentic, came on the computer already installed)

    Hi JaneMcDonald,

Yes, you can go ahead and activate Windows XP, as it could be a possibility that the software license file may have been changed due to some changes.

    How to activate Windows XP

  • I can't activate my windows key after hardware change

Due to the failure of the material, I had to Exchange my card motherboard and CPU.  Now, I can't get my windows key 7 to activate.  When I try to activate online I get error 0x80072efe code.  When I try the phone option automated I get the error code 0 x 0000048.  I tried phone support, but does not include support staff.

"Andronic" wrote in message News: e51e4fdd-25 c 5-473d-bf94-21d668b2fdc5...

I'd love to.  But no country option and no phone number are displayed. Just error 0 x 0000048, a non-specific error code. I drag the menu asking countries, but no option is available.

Your report MGADiag indicates that Windows spotted the hardware changes - and he will need to phone Activation.

If you let us know where you are, we can look at the number for you :)
(although if you can not see the codes, it is possible will do much good--but the operator may be able to help)

Please help me, your answer will be...

    Hi Javedpasha,

    1. when exactly you receive this message? Are you facing problems using USB devices?

    2. what Fixit did you run?

    3. What is the brand and model of your computer?

    4. What is the full error message that you receive?

    5. have you made a recent software or hardware changes to the system?

This error occurs generally when the audio / sound does not work.

    Method 1:

You can check the manufacturer's Web site and try to install the latest version of the drivers for the chipset, sound, network card and the display.

For more information, see the article:

Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly

    Method 2:

You can also try to run the hardware and devices Troubleshooter and check if it helps:

Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter

Disconnect external devices attached to the computer (except the keyboard and mouse) and check if it helps.

  • Windows 8 crashes when running 'find the hardware changes' in the Device Manager, requiring forced stop

I just installed Windows 8 Pro on a system that were running Windows 7 without problem.  After completing a clean Windows 8 Pro Setup program, I went from hollow driver installation, but found the package to install for my card its caused Windows 8 Pro drivers to lock up and become completely numb.  I had to force a shutdown by pressing the button for 4 seconds.

Trying to solve the problem, I found that manually install the drivers through the device manager didn't cause any problems.  In addition, installation of the drivers available through Windows Update also worked without problem. However, these two methods fail to install parts of the pilot training included him.  Then I have to uninstall the device from the package of drivers again.  I uninstalled the sound card via Device Manager and selected "Delete the driver for this device."  When I followed this with a "Scan for hardware changes" again the list my sound card, I have found that Windows 8 Hung again.

After trying other options with no resolution, I tried to reinstall fresh Windows 8.   To exclude a possible problem with Windows 8, I opened Device Manager, as soon as I could after installing Windows and ran "find the hardware changes.  New Windows 8 freezes.  I can't place blame on post installation any software or driver.  This seems to be a problem with Windows 8 itself.

A final note, sometimes "find the hardware changes" will actually work, but most often it forces the system to hang.

Does anyone else have this problem?  Can anyone provide assistance? (chart below for comparison)

    Processor: Core i7 3770 k

    Motherboard: MSI Z77A-GD80

    RAM: 16 GB

    Video: GeForce GTX 680

    Audio: Creative Sound Blaster Recon3D

HARD drive: 1 x Corsair Force SSD 3

    RAID: 3 x 1 TB RAID 5

It seems that I am victim of dynamic ticks.  Research on my question, I have found several discussions around the ' net for crashes/freezes random in Windows 8, but none of them appeared to agree to my problem.  However, they all had the same solutions.

Run the following command in a command prompt to disable the dynamic ticks.

    bcdedit/set disabledynamictick Yes

I thought that I have that would give a shot, and it worked.  I wrote this answer, I also found that there is a recent update of the BIOS for my motherboard which indicates "Support Windows8 feature."  With the new BIOS applied, I was able to turn dynamic ticks and have been broadcast since w/o freezes.  I also managed to install all my drivers.  Anyone else having this problem maybe try updating the motherboard BIOS, otherwise try the above command.

  • Too often activation required - WHAT hardware change requires reactivation?

This is the 5th time I have to activate my Vista 64, the third time using the phone system.

    Install-> Activate (normal)
Switch from IDE to AHCI Mode (+ updated drivers from AMD): reactivate, is not that I like it, but good...
Updated AHCI driver: reactivate, this time by phone
Cloning HARD drive to the new HARD disk (S.M.A.R.T. prefail) system: reactivate over the telephone once again, getting annoyed by the beast «on how many computers...» "question.
Update driver today still: reactivate over the telephone once again, getting more annoyed by the beast «on how many computers...» "question.

Vista 64 is WAY TOO HYPERSENSITIVE when it come to request reactivation.

What exactely to material changes to or driver do Vista want to reactivate?

Is it possible to NOT require reactivation?
What will I do if activation fails and pleasant phone system or the Lady tells me "installed on computers too", even if it is installed on a computer?
If you want me to illegally licensed in volume of open e (available due to my work) to avoid this inconvenience, Vista 64 me closer to do it even if I bought it normally.

    Set

    Setsunaaa,

Product activation Microsoft detects configuration values of the material where the product is installed and creates values of hash for this configuration.

Product activation can tolerate a few changes in the hardware configuration by allowing a hash value of current to have a difference of the hash value that is initially enabled.

If the hard disk is reformatted and the software is reinstalled, reactivation is required. Same for the activation grace periods apply to this situation.

Common changes to hardware, such as the mise a niveau video card, adding a second hard drive, adding RAM, or upgrading a CD-ROM drive, do not require the system to be reactivated. Specifically, Product Activation determines tolerance through a voting mechanism. Ten hardware characteristics are used to create the hardware hash. Each characteristic is rated as a voice, except the network card. The network adapter is rated as three votes.

When you think about tolerance, thinks that what has not changed, instead of what has changed. The current hardware hash is compared to the original hardware hash, seven or more points must match for the two hardware hashes to be considered in tolerance. If the network card is the same, only four additional features must match, because the network card is worth three, for a total of seven. If the network card is not the same, seven characteristics other than the network card must be the same.

If a component is changed one day, and then another change is done the next day, two changes are counted. The changes are cumulative. However, if a user is asked to reactivate, the hardware profile is reset to the new configuration.

Even if it's embarrassing, if you are in the guidelines of the EULA, reactivation on the same computer can be performed as many times as necessary.

  • Hardware changes not detected using a flash drive, the missing, system restore points tried every fix that MS can offer in Windows 7

All of a sudden, I have several problems with my computer.  I can't not computer to recognize a flash drive.  Printer works in the same usb port.  I used Device Manager, checked the drivers, made every difficulty that MS has to offer, each difficulty that Dell can offer, but the problem remains.  I don't feel uncomfortable so I don't have to play with the registry.  I uninstalled the drivers and rebooted.  The only changes that I did before this happened was to uninstall and reinstall I-tunes.  The flash drive, I use would be defective?  When I went to the system restore, my restore points have disappeared, that was the point where I uninstalled I-tunes.  I also noticed that when I tried to detect problems with the resolution of the problems of hardware and devices, it says "material changes may not have been detected.  In detail, it also shows "there is no configured windows in a way never install driver - edition".  WHAT?  I know that windows IS configured to automatically install.  (Deep breath)

This problem arises usually when the flash drive is faulty or the chipset drivers are in conflict with the USB drivers.  I recommend you to consult the following Microsoft article and check.

  • Hardware changes reported after moving from the virtual machine to a host of W7 W8 host.

I tried to move a virtual machine with the guest OS Windows 8 used in the VMware Workstation 9.02

my HP desktop with Intel core i7-2600 processor, running Windows 7

to my Toshiba laptop with Intel core i7-4700MQ processor, running the latest version of Windows 8.

I did something like that all the time with my old laptop with i7-2630QM running Windows 7.

It turns out that something changes significantly when the host of the laptop operating system passes W7 to W8.

After starting the virtual machine on my laptop W8, I clearly stated it had been MOVED and NOT copied.

Unfortunately when I try to use one of the Office 2010 applications, I get a message that the change of
HW has been detected, and that I must again request (purchase new license I guess).

Can someone help me solve this problem. For me the time is important.

I'm leaving for a business trip to 3 weeks and the old laptop is no longer appropriate.

    Andrew J

    Hello

It seems to be normal, because the changes to the hardware (RAM, CPU,...)

may be a reason for reactivation of Microsoft Windows or Microsoft Office.

I had such a situation, the upgrade of RAM.

So if you have the license, activate it again.

    Hope has helped you.

Hi, is it possible to modify the virtual material at the time of the deployment of a paralytic to vCloud Director or does another tool? I mean, what I would like is to deploy a virtual machine from my catalog (for example, a Windows 2008 Server R2 Standard 64 bit) but more his memory or vCPU.

    Kind regards.

It is not possible right now.  You must copy the entire TIME, then modify virtual hardware, then press power.  Change the material during the deployment process is a feature request which is being investigated.
