Has he consulted my pc and my password?

I got a call from a so-called man representing Microsoft telling me that he was receiving reports of feedback from my pc there was a Trojan virus. He asked me to open my pc and look for yellow warning signs.  As my pc has been rather slow lately I open the pc but stopped at the point where permission to access to the administration of my computer has been requested.  The bells have started ringing at this stage.  He knew my name and address and phone number so that it sounded very convincing.  I rang off the coast at this point.  My question is, can he have got access to my pc or passwords etc.  What steps should I take to protect myself and y at - it someone this monitoring activity?  Thank you

If you do not access a remote web site and grant control of your PC to the appellant, there is nothing that could have been done on your computer simply in your open Event Viewer and looking at the messages there.  It's unfortunately a scam underway very frequent so you did well to be wary and does not give access to your PC.
