No hardware changes or software recently made to the system: I followed the usual procedure to install Windows updates.

Performed troubleshooting: because the error # 80071 A 90 type indicated by the system, I followed the instructions of Windows Help and Support, for example to run Microsoft Fix it which did not work; a more advanced method has also been used, who recommended to start Windows Update in Mode safe, then open Windows Update and install the updates and then restart normally. At this point, the problem was that any stage of Windows Update was available.

    Hello amib004,

As much as I know, only Windows Update cannot be run in safe mode. That being said, I saw where install several updates may conflict with each other. Try to disable all updates installation and install the updates failed one at a time.

  • Windows Update has messed up my computer...?

I was going to restart my computer and saw the update windows... so I decided to update my computer so... When windows has finished updating and reloading... He would work for the first minute or so it would freeze... Freeze not literally... but nothing will work and I can still move the mouse but the mouse icon would be stuck in this symbol of loading... (the little blue circle)

At the beginning I thought I would just let it finish loading all that computers in train load... but 30 minutes later, its still stuck on loading... I did a hard reboot, and the same thing would happen... 30 seconds - 1 minute to load windows it would freeze just about anything under its weight...

So I thought the windows update screwed up my computer... I loaded in safe mode and tried to do a system restore, only to discover that my computer system restore has been disabled! ??? ... so now I have no idea what to do... someone please help me I have a lot of work to do... Thanks in advance

on the top of my head, here are my computer specs:

    Windows Vista SP1
    Intel Core i7 940

    NVIDIA FX 1700

    Update on the situation:

I've posted on several technical forums and 2 of them have been asked to go into SafeMode Add/Remove programs and uninstall then windows updates...

The problem with that is that my computer does not record the fact that he just installed an update... It is said that the update performed on the computer has been on the 17th of September... the date today here is Sept. 23...

  • Windows Update has stopped working

Recently, I recognized that I have no update for Vista installed since Nov-08; before everything worked.  When I try manually to the update, the system tells me to check the updates, it must first install a new update for Windows Update!  Then I press the button, I confirm, and the system tells me that it will download and install the update.  Aftzer some time, however, nothing happens when, in particular Windows Update itself only has not shut down and restart, but just the message appears.  This is the point where I started, and the process repeats indefinitely without any special message.   My understandig is that, for some reason, I couldn't have Windows Update update itslef.  Is there some other different means, as for example a simple download, to have the latest version of Windows Update installled on my computer?
    Thank you

  • Windows Update has no 800703F9 8007371C

    KB958690 failure error code 800703F9
    KB960225
    has no error 8007371C code

After that update failed, the system restore no longer works

Windows Vista Edition Home Premium SP1

This is the first and only the failures I've had, all the previous updates installed OK.

I tried to close all other software (like SpyBot) because there was a reference to Windows being unable to update files that are used. These attempts failed also with the same codes.

    Several attempts, several breakdowns.

There is a lot of space on my hard drive (30 GB more).

I can't find any information on the listed error codes, and "get help with the error" in Windows Update sent me just round in a loop.

    What can I try next?

  • Agent update Windows Installer return "windows update error unrecoverable Setup agent has met.

    Hello

    I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

I downloaded the installer from the Windows Update Agent to obtain the latest Windows Update Agent.  (I now c:\windows\system32\wuapi.dll version 7.3).  I got the installer of http://support.microsoft.com/kb/949104. (http://download.windowsupdate.com/windowsupdate/redist/standalone/7.4.7600.226/WindowsUpdateAgent30-x64.exe)

When I run the installer obtained above, I get the following error:

"windows update error unrecoverable Setup agent has met.

This installer is not compatible with Windows 7?

    Thank you.

Try to do a Reset with the Fix It (aggressive mode) here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

Run you Win7 64-bit, or is this a brand new computer?

What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription?  What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications?  What third-party firewall (if applicable)?

A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

  • Check Windows Update has disappeared

I disabled the box in Windows Update settingsso as to not give me updates for Microsoft products and not to check the new optional Microsoft software when I update Windows.

After that, the box has disappeared in the settings window, and I can't go back on my decision. I read somewhere that it could be corrected using the policy editor. I attemppted to do, but it did not work satisfactorily.

Is there an effective way to restore this box which has disappeared from the settings window?

    [Running Windwos 7 Pro 64-bit]

I found that I could try to clear the history in Windows Update as follows:

Paste this command to search for Windows.
    %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\

Go to the datastore folder, and delete the content. Reboot and re-scan updated them.

I did the above, after following the instructions of MowGreen wuauserv and bits.

After restarting the PC, the Windows Update page includes all the options and now shows the box who had disappeared.

The only thing I lost was the history of Windows Update.
