HASP dongle (parallel port) on the A100-906 Satellite connection

I need to work with Solid Works software. It is protected with HASP dongle which should be connected to the parallel port (printer port). But there is no such port on my Satellite.

What can I do?

Several ideas of spring in mind:
-try to get your software vendor to replace your dongle with a USB version (possibly you will get a free)
-get a parallel converter cable / usb (not guaranteed)
-get a parallel PCMCIA card (a bit expensive...)

    Hi all

I'm a newbee in labview. As part of my project work, I need to get 8 digital inputs and send 4 digital outputs.so I think to use the Parallel Port on the pc.i can make use of 8 datalines for entries. I found the site NOR is it possible to use status for output pins. But is it possible to use status for output pins pins and data for entries to the time.please help even me also mention of the measures to take, or keep in mind while implementing.also include any example vi that could be useful.

    Thanks in advance

I would recommed you to NOT use the parallel port. Now a day you have hardly a PC with parallel port. also if you have some old PC then most likely last version of LabVIEW (e.g. 2010) will need a lot more memory RAM and processor.

If you want a solution very very low cost then I would recommend using an arduino to that effect. You can then download LabVIEW Interface for Arduino and start working.

If you continue to use the parallel port, then you could try (I haven't worked with parallel port and have not tested the following solutions)

Download VIPM and then install the enclosed package. It will add the port e/s palette in your labview. and you can use it.

  • Driver files that run the parallel port and USB port

In the system information utility where to look to find the parallel port and the port driver USB, name of file that manages these?

Know the drivers specific, is only half the story.  Why you looking for these drivers?  You have problems with your parallel port or USB port?  This can be caused by problems with drivers or it could be a hardware problem (hard to diagnose a hardware problem without good parts to swap and test).  If you need to update the drivers, you must use device (not msinfo32) Manager - or maybe clicking on an executable file that loads the drivers automatically (depends on how it is sent by download).

Go to the Device Manager by going to start / find and type Device Manager and enter and then double-click on the program icon that appears.  Check each device to a red x, yellow! or white?  These identify devices with problems probably (drivers, but also of conflict or something else).  Click on each for more details and troubleshooting tips.  If you need drivers (I assume that you want to the parallel port and USB ports), get the computer dealer or the manufacturer of the device (NOT of Microsoft Updates).  In fact, you must disable automatic updates in Windows Update driver as follows: http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/how-to-disable-automatic-driver-installation-in-windows-vista/. Follow these steps to get the drivers: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/driverssupport/ht/driverdlmfgr.htm.  Once you have the drivers, you can install them via the Manager device as follows: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html.  Or run the Setup program of driver provided by the vendor of the computer or the manufacturer of the device.  Be VERY careful get Vista compatible drivers for these devices are difficult to identify (they usually come with the numbers of model or something like that if they can have serial numbers) and using the wrong drivers could make the problem (whatever that is) worse.

If you update the drivers succerssfully and the problem persists, then it is probably a hardware problem.  In this case, contact the manufacturer of your computer for technical support (hopeully it is still under warranty) or bring it to a professional computer repairman (NOT Geek Squad or one of those big store centers because they don't really know what they're doing and charge a lot for this level of expertise) to have the components tested and possibly replaced.

    I hlpe that aid.

  • How to get the driver to a parallel printer using windows update without a parallel port on my laptop?

I have an asus WL500g and I use it as a print server. On my big pc on windows 7. I managed to install the driver on the printer directly on the pc connection an update of windows to get the driver of the Sina. After installing the driver I passed it to the port by using the ip address of my router. It works, but my laptop doesn't have a parallel port, so it is not possible to obtain the driver. What can I do?

You do not want drivers for parallel port on the laptop anyway given that the laptop is not connect via the parallel port, but rather on the network. You would most likely want to install drivers on the laptop Asus print server, and then print to a network printer drivers. Download the Asus former and latter printer mftr. • Parallel port on Windows 7?

    Hi all

I'm trying to migrate some older software (LV and otherwise - all internal written anyway) who communicates via the parallel port on a Windows 7 (64-bit).  The GPIB based programs all work fine, but I can't find a way to talk to the parallel port.  The machine (HP Pavillion Elite) came without a parallel port, but I found a card PCIe (Startech PEX1P) which adds the value 1.  It appears in the Windows Device Manager, but the address of the resource is listed as D010 rather than the old 378, and it cannot be reconfigured (the folks at Startech says Windows actually assigns the address).   Any suggestions?  Anyone try this yet?

    Thank you

I know this is not guaranteed, but following the actual signs, I (finally!) got the Startech PEX1P card to operate!  Instead of using the Port.VI, I tried to use VISA you writing again, but this time, I updated the land of terminals 11 and 12 by the document OR on the use of the Parallel Port in LabVIEW.

    Dennis Knutson says:
Even functions in new versions of LabVIEW with the correct representation for the address lines is not guaranteed to work on your OS and 7.1 is not supported at all. The AccessHW dll must also be written for the OS and it will not happen. I say LabVIEW upgrade and use VISA or stick with an older operating system.

  • Driver for old parallel port; This device has a problem: Code = 28 (0x1C)

We organize a Dos based Windows 98 application and I need to find a driver for the integrated parallel port. The motherboard is an ASUS P5GD2-TMX/S. Both the local provider and ASUS only provide XP and more drivers for the motherboard. How can I determine the manufacturer of the parallel port and download the driver directly from their site? I done this before for the serial port and downloaded and installed a Sunnix driver, which worked.

I did some research on the North Bridge, South bridge and the Super i/o chip set, but to no avail. Here is a copy of the output of sysinfo32.

The motherboard seems to be Intel 915P chipset.

  • Parallel Port problem

We used the kind of software that uses a key lock (which is connected to the parallel port), we have added new machines in our Mt. HP3330 company, i.e, who doesn't have a parallel port on the motherboard. The problem starts here, even after installing Add on parallel port & required installation driver, after the execution of programs, it gives an error not found "Key lock". This problem can be solved using the USB parallel port?

Even after that the installation of the Add on parallel port & installation required pilot, after execution of programs, it gives an error "Key lock" not found

You mean you bought a discreet the snap card to provide a parallel port?

Check Device Manager for parallel ports that are available on your PC and what is their status...

    • Click Start
    • Click on run
    • Type devmgmt.msc and press enter
    • Enlarge (click on +) Ports (COM & LPT) section

Please answer with the information on your parallel port (printer). Is there more than one?

If there is that this means that even though there may be no physical outlet, your motherboard has the ability to add another via a ribbon cable.

If this is the case there are two options...

    1. Configure your software to use the new (LPT2 probably) LPT port not LPT1.
    2. Remove the add-in and replace a cable sheet of the motherboard to a backplate with a parallel decision-making. You should be able to buy this th same place you bought the card.

    Tricky

EDIT: 3rd option if you have 2 LPT ports: disable the port of the motherboard in the BIOS, uninstalling the card and its drivers. Re-install add it in card and should be LPT1.

  • Cannot install Epson TMU 220 d (Parallel Port) printer

First of all, let me start by saying that I am using this printer on the same machine for a few years, but every time I format my hard drive and install windows after I always have a time hard the installation of printer on the SAME machine.

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit), I matrix Epson - TMU 220 D printer with a parallel cable to print.

However as I don't have a parallel port on the motherboard, I put a map for this from bigning.

Now when I give a print command it only prints and when I check the printers and devices, it is said that the printer is offline (even though it is very well connected by cable and is switched on!)

OK I have finally, after many adventures have found a solution.

    Its Port LPT driver,.

You see, I bought this last motherboard from Gigabyte which did not have a Port LPT printer on it, so I bought a "PCI to port parallel Card", so when I tried to install the printer with the latest Epson drivers they did install the latest version of the required software, but could never find a LPT port where he could search for the printer and so theoretically only it has been installed and that in a measure limited.

    Details:

The card came with a cd with drivers. If initially, I managed to install the printer, but later on when I upgraded to windows 7 64 bit... Two things created problem that were:

1 PCI to the port PARALLEL card drivers were not compatible with my new operating system i.e. windows 7 64 bit (either they were too old... or I guess they were 32-bit). So I had to open my office pc and see the name of the manufacturer on the card (or through DEVICES ENTER) and asked them to send me a mail pilot - they were very cooperative. Through the channels if you are unable to get the driver for some reason, I suggest buying a new card as its very cheap about $ 6 and you'll get a cd of drivers with it - ensure that its 32 / 64 and is your compatible windows before you buy.

    2. in the second place the TMU 220 d drivers that I had download were too old and I guess only 32 bits (not really sure of the part of bit if)

So once I got the latest driver from the manufacturer of the PCI... I was able to install the printer... as above, the printer driver failed to install printer correctly because he did not have any LPT port on my computer!

But before anything check if the printer cable WORK... because sometimes it will suddenly died and you think... There will be problem in there as it was working until yesterday... then before going to all the trouble sound good to check that too! Like Epson TMU 220 D is very robust and would get rarely defective.

  • LPT1 in the hardware Manager, but not in the virtual machine settings. Parallel port software unable to find LPT. Windows 7, 64-bit and XP virtual

    Hallo,

the forum is full of questions similar to mine and everything seems complete without useful answers some time early last year. I would like to give a try today to see if I get a solution.

Have Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit and installed XP mode to be able to use the chip programming hardware (GALEP-III), which is connected via the Parallel Port. Downloaded XP mode later than yesterday (24.02.2011) Microsoft.

In the XP box, the LPT1 port appears in the hardware Manager. But it does not appear in the settings for the XP mode. The Galep software starts just fine, but can't find the PARALLEL port.

As written above, there are many people who have the same problem and seem to have gotten no solution. One piece of advice I found was to modify the VMC

    LPT1 (378 h-37Fh)

    1

The above did not work. I think it was for a different version of XP-mode.

Then there was advice on LPT need 378 h-37Fh. It's fine with my pc.

Then, there was a Council to stop the 'Print Spool' Service on the host pc. I tried in vain.

So, if there is a solution to my problem, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

(Note: I'm not interested to connect a printer.) I have an IC programming material that can connect only through a parallel port. It also comes with a security dongle. GALEP III).

    Good bye.

Have you tried in this more specific Forum?

    Virtualization of Windows 7

Under settings is there anything you can do with the section of COM port, if it applies to your problem of material in the first place?

  • parallel port does not have the protection key

I just bought a terca M2. When I try to install a software that uses a hardware key (small connector in the parallel port) I get the message that he found no protection key. I have installed this software on other laptops (also with xp pro) and they are all worked well.
I also tried two parallel port settings, but it still does not work.

Please help me solve this problem, otherwise, this laptop will be useless to me.

    Hi robert,.

have you checked that the chip set driver in Device Manager? As far as I know the parallel port is controlled by the entire ship!

Have you checked if the parallel port in your M2 works without any problem (for example, a parallel printer) to exclude a defect of material! If there is a material defects you might bring the laptop to a Toshiba service for a short health check partner!

I got a Toshiba A100-906 2 years when I was on vacation in another country.
It has a Bios password and I can't funniest t change it.

I read all the manuals and there is no default password.
Is there a way to reset it or at least a program that will allow me to change with my fingerprint reader?

    > More funny it has a Bios password and I can't change.
For me it is not funny but he s strange because the BIOS password is not set on any one of the new laptops the point is that the BIOS password cannot be disabled or removed without knowing the old password.
So, you won't be able to remove it without the help of ASP from Toshiba.

Technician Toshiba ASP can only remove this password and you should get in touch with the guys to solve your problem.

  • Problem with the USB ports, coast and Bluetooth in Satellite A100-237

Hello, I own a laptop Satellite A100-237 and I have an annoying problem for quite a while now. The two USB ports in the side as well as the Bluetooth device will not work. What is the bluetooth device is it is simply not recognized by the system, as if it wasn't there (it is said the installation of the driver too) while any device I connect to USB ports side does not work either.
The other two USB ports in the back work very well.

    Hello

Maybe this two ports are really defective, and there is not much to say. You will get your laptop for repair, or you live with it and use the other two USB ports. Sorry, but I see your ad as a report short and not as some to ask for help.

    Bye and good luck!

    Hi guys,.

I have a Satellite M60 and I want to transfer files from my Iomega Zip drive.
My laptop is not has a paraller port, so I bought a converter to operate, but there was no result.

Is anyone of you know how to solve the problem and finally reach my driver ZIP of my Satellite in order to transfer files?
    Do I need another converter?

If so, when is? Or do I have to buy a PCI card with paraller port?

    Any response will be appraciated

    thanx

    Hello

I've never used a converter USB / parallel but a USB-to-serial port converter and I had very bad experience of such pieces of witch.
AFAIK this adapters don't work properly.

Therefore, your suggestion is not bad to use the PCMCIA card with a parallel port.

Check first of all in your user manual what cards are compatible, then you can try to use this card.

I think it would be the best solution to connect your Iomega Zip drive to the M60 laptop.

  • Satellite A100-906: Express player media use the reinstallation of the operating system

    Hello

I use a Toshiba Satellite A100-906. I did NOT know about what express Media Player recovery cd's and I've never used it. But now I want to know what's the point of use.

In any case I had to format my laptop and I have used the recovery cd. So now I've read that if I want to run the express media player I must first of all, insert the express media player cd stop button of my laptop and then use cd/dvd to start it.

The problem is that I find in win xp with a Windows Media Player. Something go wrong with the format (using the recovery cd)? I had to first install the express media player? and then format and reinstall xp?

If that's the problem, I, at this stage, to be able to install express media player without losing my data? I expect an answer. I hope you'll forgive my ignorance :).

    Best regards
    Harris

P.S. when I boot from the media player recovery cd express I get three options 1) crash installation 2) uninstall 3) delete all partitions. So did I express media player installed?

    Hello

So you're a bit confused. Am I wrong?
If you want to start the Express media player you n t need to insert the CD of express media player!
Express media player must be installed on the HARD drive!

You have recovered the laptop with your recovery CD Toshiba but didn't install the Express media player since the EMP CD!
    This is false.

Usually the Media Express Recovery CD drive must be run before performing the recovery from the recovery DVD-ROM products.
Cannot install the Express media player after using the Toshiba Recovery CD!

So first to run the CD of Express media player and then run the restore CD!
