  I just bought a Hauppage WinTV - HVR 850 hoping to be able to use my computer as a DVR and record some TV series.

  Do not have an HD antenna on our House and have basic cable (which has analog channels, but we can also take digital channels on our tv, which has a tuner).  When I plugged the cord to cable TV from the wall outlet at the end of this device, he searched and found only the analog channels (I tried with only the antenna mounting and it is like 3 stations).  I recorded a show on one of the analog channels and it was fuzzy.

  Is it possible to hook it up to my computer so I can get HD cable channels?  We will get an HD soon of our cable company box.  I wonder if he has 2 'out', so I could split that and I have only once to my TV and the other which could plug into this Hauppauge thing?   The HVR-850 is a cable analog / ATSC tuner.  It cannot set Clear-QAM (digital cable clear.)  I'm sorry.
   
  The HVR - 950 Q can set Clear-QAM, however.  Note, however, that this Tuner cannot be switched on the fly between modes - you choose which you want (analog cable, or clear-QAM) during the TV configuration.
  

  There are a lot of tuners out there which, frankly, are far more capable than what is the HVR-850.
  Is this a desktop or a laptop?  If a desktop computer, what you have for the available expansion slots: PCI, PCIe, or not at all?

  Another question / comment:
  Media Center for Windows Vista can't Clear-QAM, unless your version includes TV Pack 2008 (not available for download, by the way.)  "It was an option installed by OEM).  Some manufacturers of tuner, however, provide "workaround" pilots who are MC think it's a tuner ATSC (which is supported.)
  Could you at tasks > settings > General > about > version of the software and after the version number that appears there?

  Ask in Hauppauge.  It is a hardware problem - not the software and not a Microsoft product.  Your best support comes from those who did and therefore take over the product.

• Capture TV programs via the cable using the cable box and card Hauppauge

  I was doing fine record TV unencripted signal until comcast sent me a box of small encriptación.   The Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1290 sends finally channel change commands TV Comcast decoder box and it is now possible to program the recorder.  I think that the main problems were a failure remote control Hauppauge and a very low external receiver.  It could also have been a few taken IR on the computer that could have internal corrosion of three years of inactivity.

  This site goes into detail about the implementation of the system using a set-top box.  I couldn't always installation to work because the statement strongly relied on the Hauppauge remote control.  But I noticed in the comments to the screen, another way to use the keyboard rather than the Hauppauge remote control.  Better easier to identify the box system is the first option.  The program will redirect you to point the remote very close to Comcast (touch) to the external IR receiver and press a particular key.  If the receiver receives the signal, it will be a very small red light flashes in the receiver. You may need to move the remote to the receiver to get this light. Once the box is identified the process of implementation of the signal is simple although there will be a lot of channels identified.  You can uncheck the channels that you don't want or you can deselect all channels and the select only the channels you want.

  The protected content message could be caused by a number of elements.  Your monitor must be connected with a DVI cable that is HDCP. Your video card must support HDCP, and finally the video card driver must support HDCP.  The PC may need to be required to manage the video stream protected content.

  I see that the motherboardof your PC has only VGA, so if that's how your monitor is connected, then this is probably the issue.  Install a discreet video with a DVI card and then use a DVI cable would probably solve the HDCP issue.

  Install a discrete video card could also mean that you need to supply. Unplug your computer and open it. Read the label on the power supply unit (PSU).  What is the total power and amperage on the bus + 12 volt?  The amount of amperage + 12 volts is important when choosing a video card.

  You must copy the data files on the D drive to C drive.  Although RAID0 conforms to the standards of the AHCI, it is better to change to AHCI in the BIOS. See here that will allow a single hard drive. (The old D disk be reformatted and installation of the OS). In the end, you will need an adapter (like this one) to convert the old disk USB file copying, files of data back to the newly installed C drive.  Such an adpater can be found on Amazon.

  As I suspected, the weak link is your graphics card integrated - GMA910GL of Intel is not enough juice (nor has it required WDDM WHQL certified drivers) to properly support DirectX (or a few other things) entirely in hardware (not on Vista or Win7.)  Even the GMA950 chip had problems in Media Center (go all the way back to Media Center 2005); the minimum that worked really really - still - is the GMA x 3000.
  In other words, you need a graphics card.  But you don't have to spend a lot of money - a PCIe card decent (assuming you have a PCIe x 16 location) can be made for<>

  I have not assumed that you could pop the cover off the PC and see what (if any) you have at disposal a graphic slot, could you?

  If you want to update the PC and go to Windows Vista, I do not see why the software does not flippant, but cannot say with certainty.
  If you want to upgrade to Windows 7, a custom installation is required and you will need to reinstall the software tuner. Since this is older software, you might want to stick with the one provided with the new card, or Media Center.
