    I understand that you are not able to connect printer Canon Selphy on Windows 8.

    Check if the device is detected in Device Manager.
    Follow these steps:
    a. on the desktop, press the Windows key + X , and then select Device Manager.
    b. expand Print Queues , and then right-click on the printer.
    c. Select Properties , and then check to see if the device works properly under device status.

    Is there a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark inside, then it indicates that there is a problem with the drivers.

    Follow these methods and check if that helps.

    Method 1: It is easier to connect to a printer on Windows 8.  Simply plug the USB cable from your printer to a USB port available on your computer.  If the computer is not find the printer, then plug it into another USB port and verify.

    Some older printers can require additional information to complete the installation, so connect you using the Advanced Printer Setup.

    I should probably first give a little background on my situation that may or may not be useful, as well as the iPad I have a Windows 7 PC, which is connected to the router and the printer and a computer 8.1 windows laptop that has a link to the same router wireless. Laptop wireless printing is not a problem and works quite well. At first I thought that this link to the printer via the homegroup that I had put in place, but never really used outside printing. But after reinstalling Windows on the PC, I could not Homegroup configure so currently neither portable nor a computer belongs to a homegroup but still the laptop wireless printing work. So I have to conlude that the establishment is not (and has probably never been) related to the residential groups

    Printing is now works fine without doing me anything. Maybe I had simply not had enough time for the printer come alive for the printing of the air - it takes perhaps longer for my more usual wireless printing of the laptop.

    Sorry for raising what turned out be a non-issue but thank you, John, for your perfectly reasonable suggestion, even if this time it is not not to be the answer.

    Since the static IP address, make sure that the computer has the IP address of the printer.

    This can be done by clicking Start > all programs > HP > Officejet 8600 The folder > IP update.

    This should detect the network printer and enter the new IP address.

    Also, make sure that the firmware is up to date.  This can be done through two methods, but I recommend the update to the computer.  Click here to download the update of the firmware.  If the printer is already updated, the update tool indicates this.  If it is not updated, it will update the printer.  This should be done from a computer that is able to communicate with the printer.

    If you want to update directly from the printer, you can do so by pressing the icon of web services (paper with rings behind it at the top) > settings > printer update > check for update now.  If an update is available, it will update.  If this isn't the case, it will indicate that no update is available.

    The new firmware can solve existing problems and help keep the printer works best.
