Have I been scammed? ELCON Commercial trading

I'm embarrassed to have to ask the question again. I get calls from the India-

I got the call saying that my computer is corrupted by...? Next - should I renew my security Windoows software license. After hours of their being on my computer, I'm convinced by them that I need to renew this license. I pay $155 for 3 years, am given a security code.

Then - in doing so, ILS (?) will correct all of the problems I am currently experiencing. They tell me to look at a particular screen to 'prove' that a large number of files, etc. have been corrupted. Team viewer... and they are in - literally hours later, I get a call once again - (all the while - I told myself not to use my computer so that they are about).

-All my trust issues are scrambled. They are full of insurance, and my computer actually works better, faster after that.

They call me now 2 - 3 times a day.

Once again - I should know better, but went into account very quickly how ill-prepared, I was to be able to really KNOW if they were 'Windows' or simply to take me for a ride.

The name of the out-source company is Elcon trade business.

Please help me - I'm about to go Luddite.

Feel like a fool, but not only.

Sorry to tell you, but yes, you have been scammed. With different names and
phone numbers, one that has become very common these days. See

and

In addition to their money get on your part to do anything of any value,
If you leave them in your computer, who knows what they were doing or where
What confidential information they stole.

So if you have done so, I highly recommend that you do both of the following
immediately:

1 do a clean reinstall of Windows.

2. change all of your passwords, especially banks or other
financial sites.

  • FSMGROUPS is an enterprise Microsoft Certified or have I been scammed?

I was contacted by FMSGROUPS on a cold call telling me that my PC has been severely damaged. I stupidly (half asleep and shaken) gave them access to my PC as they see the corruption of files (about 1600 +) which, in theory, they removed. They assured me that they have been authenticated by Microsoft and I have paid for a subscription. I'm now concerned I was scammed. The people involved are difficult to understand for the questions were not always clearly answered. I was too worried because 86% damaged on a list of files do not follow their advice. Can you identify FSMGROUPS.com as a real company or do I have to take some kind of action (I just start scanning)? Thank you very much... Rodger Williamson

I just got a call from windows saying pirates were trying to get access to my computer and asked me to go to the run menu and type eventvwr and go to security and count the red Xs and yellow triangles, after that I said I was under 18, they told me to wait for their phone call.  They also said that they were in England in the Department in charge of piracy (not the exact words), I was wondering if it was a scam because (don't not to sound racists but) they sounded to the East Indies and I read on some other getting calls of the people of the East Indies and it didn't sound like a normal call center because there was a lot of noise in the background it all seemed a bit suspicious to me.

Is it possible that they could have installed some sort of malicious software on my Macbook Pro X or am I protected?

If you don't give them access to your computer or download something on their request, you should be fine. If you allow them access or downloaded something, you must erase and reformat your hard drive, then restore your computer from a backup taken before when you allowed them access. Change your passwords and other critical information also. Not sure what software have been installed. If necessary, contact your bank to make opposition and cancel your credit card.

    Cheers, JFo!

Yes you have been scammed, MS does not phone people, nor MS of the email of the people except in response to a conversation of e-mail, the individual began

No idea what the program did, in the worst case, he extracted details log-on/word password for different sites, including the Bank/store cards etc.

Then to be sure you contact all of your financial institutions to change your password/maps, etc. and change any password on any other site that you use, including email.

And to be sure you need to recover your PC to factory state using a destructive restore that will destroy everything on the PC

  • I've been scammed!

I have Windows 7 Professional running on my computer.  It will be a long question and I apologize in advance.  I hope that someone will take the time to read all this.  I know I've been scammed.  Like a fool, I fell for the phone call "we represent Microsoft and your computer is compromised.  28/03/14 I paid via PayPal, $249.00 for 3 year protection for Windows 7.  They took control of my computer with my approval and did something that helped the computer.  30/04/14, I paid them an additional $149.00 for a professional version of Microsoft Security Essentials.  They once again has taken control of my computer, with my permission and supposed to be downloaded the professional version of MSS.  23/05/14, (believe it or not I'm really suspicious of this company now) they called to tell me that there was something wrong with my computer - once again.  This time I have them the pain of $170.00 for them to install Windows Defender on my computer.  From what I can tell, and with my help of nephews, Windows 2007 does not run Windows Defender.  They allegedly downloaded Windows Defender on my computer, my nephew, who built computers, said that it is not on my computer.  I called the people who supposedly are protecting my computer and asked them to show me where on my Windows Defender system is and why I paid for the SMS when it's supposed to be a free product?  They were a little angry at my questions ask them!  They told me that the MSS is a professional version of MSS and that is why I paid for it, and then they showed me a screen with Windows Defender on it telling me that it was on my computer.  I noticed that the name on the screen says 'Control Panel 2'.  2 Control Panel is not available on Windows 8 and not on Windows 7?   All about 28/05/14, they called me to tell me that there was an alarm goes of my computer.  I had been away from the computer for an hour and a half, when I wend to the computer, there was a pornographic picture instead of my wallpaper.  (It's one of their calls that cost me nothing)  He recommended that I get a better program to prevent it happening again.  They said that the only one they had was for companies and the cost was $400, 00-$500 00 for purchase.  The guy said that he would talk to her supervisor to see if they could sell it to me.  At this point, I was sure that I had been scammed for way too much money to 99.9%!   Anyone can come up with all the options I have to get my money back?  In addition, once I contacted this 'service provider' and tell them to get out of their system, I need to invest in Norton or another provider is legitimate, or is MSS enough?  Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I'm sorry if this is confusing.

    Hello

    What is the MSS?

There is MSE which is Microsoft Security Essentials, which is FREE for Windows 7 from Microsoft antivirus.

And Yes, you don't have the free Anti-Spyware program called Windows Defender, installed as part of the Windows 7 operating system. but MSE disables it by default.

Windows Defender as an anti-virus does not appear until you're in Windows 8.

Your computer sends any messages to anyone on the problems.

To get your money back, you will need to contact your bank or PayPal and credit card company.

We can not help you with that.

BUT we can give you advice about what to do to limit the damage.

It is general information, we provide to the people who say that you did a phone call using the words for you:

"We are Microsoft and your computer is compromised.

Either these so-called "Microsoft" Tech companies want to sell you a worthless software, or remote access to your computer to try to steal your credit card and bank information and also achieve an identity theft on you.

You gave them remote access and if you do Internet banking, contact your bank, explain, and change passwords.

If you use your online credit card, cancel and get a new one issued to you.

And the only way that willl you know that you are free to them is to backup your data and do a clean install of your operating system.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

And Microsoft does not contact you unless YOU have made prior arrangements with them to do.

There is an article in the link I'm you provide at the end of this one

    Read this Information from Microsoft:

Do I lose all the iMessages that have not been delivered to my iphone if I withdraw (from iMessage) my phone number? My current iphone is broken and I am planing to get a new one in a few months.

You may lose everything.  iMessage, like most e-mail services, don't keep permanently undeliverable messages.  They only keep in the short period send queue (I don't know exactly how much time but some Apple tech sites indicate no more than 10 days to two weeks) until they are purged.  That's pretty standard as otherwise, large volume, messaging services would be sitting on tera-bytes of messages not delivered each month.

You actually have to change my phone number?  If not, let alone sign and only in iMessage when you have the new phone with this set of numbers upward to the service.

Several times I used sync for tranzfer of information to a new computer and or updated computer!
In the last 24 hours I've sent many requests for 'change password' for those that I tried did not work, so I can connect!

You say you sent an email over and over again, but no one came to my email which is confirmed you have the right address!

There is absolutely no evidence that you tried to send an email to me, I checked the spam, I even looked to see if somehow, it went one folder other then my Inbox, nothing has been received on your part!

Removed edit email and public telephone for spammers robots do not find.

You can enter the wrong email address. I tested 2 fake emails in the password reset page and received the green check mark telling me that the password reset emails have been sent. It is not a real confirmation that your e-mail address is used by Firefox accounts.

This is done this way so that hackers and spammers can not cheat the system by typing many kinds of emails at random and wait to see if they get a confirmation 'this e-mail address is. So for security reasons, all the entered addresses electronic are treated as real even if there is no account that corresponds to this e-mail.

Please try some of your other email addresses here and see if you receive a password reset email in these accounts.

If he has problems with the update or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the version currently installed to do a fresh install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the file to disk on the desktop image

Your personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you will not lose your bookmarks and other data to personal when you uninstall and (re) install or update Firefox.

  • Old photos have not been deleted, even if it's been more than 2 months and keep crashing the photo library in icloud.

Earlier this year, I used the library to icloud to back up my photos. Everything worked well. After awhile, I deleted the photos and off synchronization from photo library. Today, I decided that I wanted to use again, so I turned it on. It seems to work fine but when I connect to my PC I have the chance to see the old photos have not been removed. They seem to be corrupt (there is an exclamation mark instead of a thumbnail) and I can not open them, instead the library hangs. It has been more than 2 months, I suppose that even if I forgot to delete some photos, they should be gone now. Is there a way to fix this?

    a few things

1 - iCloud Photo is not a backup - it's a synchronization service - see FAQ-apples iCloud Photo library FAQ - Apple Support

    More precisely

    Do I need a backup?

ICloud library stores all of your photos and original videos in iCloud, but we still recommend that track you return of copies of your library. You can upload your photos and videos to iCloud on your computer and store them in a separate library, transfer them to another computer with transfer of images or Photosor store them on a separate disk.

2 - ICPL can be accessed through Safari - connect to iCloud.com can click on the picture and see what's there - look in the recently deleted album and see what's there

    3. we need to know the details - you have other devices using the same iCloud account?
