Have some kind of virus or Trojan - dozens of spam messages are sent from my PC. Is there something I can do?

The messages do not appear in my "sent" folder. Many of them are sent to the death of e-mail addresses and the only way I know that it comes from "failure to provide" messages from the mail administrator.

My virus software provider has solved the problem: I'm a customer at my internet provider for e-mail. Spam messages came from there. All I had to do was change my e-mail password and the problem disappeared immediately.

So far, since Sunday, I seem to have some kind of virus that effects my desktop software, MS Office, Outlook and Windows vista security components.  I tried to restore the PC to a previous state (failed).  I tried to run 3rd party software to search for malware.  Trend Micro said no problem.  Norton said no problem after having been rebuilt by Norton, cannot run any software for detecting rookits or MS Security Essentials because they fail to install and to say that I don't have permission.  My office has disappeared.  Initially, I have not been able to open office files but used several techniques from this database can now open files.  Outlook will not send or receive mails and wants to create a NormalEmail.dotm file despite a being already on my PC.  Is the only way to solve this problem to reformat and reload windows?  Windows disk is not recognized by the PC that wants to format the CD when insterted.  Help!

    http://www.Microsoft.com/Windows/compatibility/Windows-Vista/default.aspx

    Windows Vista Compatibility Center

First thing to do is to check its Vista compatibility at the link above, and if not to see what patches/solutions are available from its manufacturer...

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-compatibility-mode/

If this is not Vista compatible, read the info on the link above.
It works for some programs, but not all.

This applies to software programs, NOT hardware drivers.

If it's Vista compatible > uninstall it > Re-download/save to your desktop > right click on setup.exe O run as admin.

    See you soon.

    Hello

Download update and scan with the free version of malwarebytes anti-malware

    http://www.Malwarebytes.org/MBAM.php

You can also download and run rkill to stop the process of problem before you download and scan with malwarebytes

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/anti-virus/rkill

If it does not remove the problem and or work correctly in normal mode do work above in safe mode with networking

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

    also run the sfc/scannow command.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833

Use the (SFC.exe) System File Checker tool to determine which file is causing the problem and then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally madeprograms,Accessories, right-clickguest, and then clickrun as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or clickallow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER:
      sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions

If SFC detects the main problems it can't fix you may need to borrow a Microsoft dvd vista not an acer, HP etc. recovery disk and do a repair installation

read the below tutorial on how to perform a repair installation

  • Does anyone know if Reg Clean Pro is safe or if it's some kind of virus?

While working with Microsoft office, I had a window that pops up and began scanning my computer and then to tell me I had 6535 problems with the performance of my computer and that my state of health of the system are POOR with the level of damage is high. Then would fix only 15 issues until I bought the software. Anyone know anything about this?

Get rid of such a program, do not apply 15 patches. You should be able to uninstall it (computer > uninstall or change a program). These programs offer usually speed up your computer, while some of them manage to speed up things a little more of them break everything.

If you want to optimize your system instead use the free programs (vacuum cleaner and registry cleaner) ccleaner and defraggler:
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_ccleaner
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_defraggler
They break things in the same way as the program that you have. Then if this is installed without your knowledge you should eventually check for malware. Download Malwarebytes:
    http://download.CNET.com/Malwarebytes-anti-malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html
The free version) to update and run the full scan. The best thing about the free version of this program is that it only runs and updates when you tell him so that he does not interfere with any other security installed on your computer. Of course, the professional version has protection in real time and automatic update, these too seems to be fairly stable when running in conjunction with Microsoft Security Essentials anyway.

  • can or is there something that can help me to remove the adware; virus win32/open candy from my computer?

There are a lot of things going on in my computer right now, worries me to death, one is called an adware: win32/open candy I guess than the virus. And it is a small thing, but still worry thaat essentials of microsoft has removed only one of them. I also ran the microsoft Scanner and it has not picked up and was not deleted. And I want to change my password to something a little more decent right now. I try to start over all of mine from scratch, because I learned from microsoft a lot what they taught me. But I need a clean start. I need to do something of everything again. I don't want anyone to know who I'm not. I'm afraid that now. I would like to make a few settings that I feel I have to now change hotmail.com and facebook.com and with yahoo.com as well. But I have to be able to do this. I realize that this will be an alias. But considering what I had to go through last month, and even now, I think it would be much better for me.

This thread covers OpenCandy (a matter of gravity low adware) pick-up with MSE:

What is your MSE settings > action for low alert threat level defined as default?  Try to set quarantine if it is not already configured on that and don't forget to save the changes.  Also, remember that you can seek assistance from MSE free via the web, by email or by phone if necessary.

  • Since I upgraded to 7.01 (linux xubuntu) firefox seems to crash, but only on the pages have something to do with Flash. I served flash and reinstalled and it seemed to fix, but is happening again today. Is there something I can do to fix this?

    I have Linux Xubuntu.
I had 11.04, but upgraded to 11.10. bold text
I've never had a problem with firefox until I upgraded to firefox 7. I've always made changes to about: config and went through my edits and none is related to this.
I just checked on: fails and I had 34 accidents since the upgrade on 11.10.11
Fix on the 13th, it seemed to me that there can be no planting until the 17th and it was through flash and then purge by reinstalling the necessary packages.

I solved this problem by disabling hardware acceleration. At the time where I went down as my flash 10 (instead of 11).
This option is no longer available. But disable hardware acceleration seemed to fix it.

See the other answers, you have obtained, but also be aware of the possibility that it is * not * your hotmail that sends messages. Rather your list of contacts may have been copied by malware and messages are sent from a different computer.
