Have uninstalled AVG by discovery of instructions
OS is XP... Computer works always slowly, as if something is running in the background. "Search for" reveals that many AVG files remain (despite the use of AVG removal tool). What would be the result if I deleted these files manually? If this is not possible, whrere ROM here?
Hello
AVG has caused a lot of problems lately and although she probably isn't the cause of this problem
It often exacerbates similar questions. I uninstall it and run the AVG removal tool to make sure none
remnants are left behind, which can also cause strange problems. See below for replacements to use
during the test, even better permanently.

------------------------------------------------------------
Here's what I use and recommend: (these are all free and very effective versions.)
Avast and Prevx proved extremely reliable and compatible with all I have
launched on them. Microsoft Security Essentials and Prevx have also proven to be very
reliable and compatible. Use MSE or Avast and Prevx, Prevx 3 but not all.
Avast Home free - stop any shields is not necessary except leave the file system, Web,.
Operational network (Script and behavior are also recommended in Ver 6 +).
Prevx - Home - free
Windows Firewall
Windows Defender (is not necessary if you use MSE)
Protected IE - mode
IE 8 - SmartScreen filter WE (IE 7 phishing filter)
I also IE always start with asset if filter InPrivate IE 8.
(It may temporarily turn off with the little icon to the left of the + bottom
right of IE)
Two versions of Avast are available 6.x and 4.8 x
Avast - home - free - 6.x stop shields you do not use (except files, Web, network, &)
Shields of behavior) - double click on the icon in the Notification area - real time Orange - click on the
Shield that you want to stop - STOP. To stop the Orange icon to show an error indicator-
Click on the Orange icon - top right - settings - click on the status bar - uncheck shields you
disabled - click OK
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download
Avast 4.8 x - home - free - stop shields, you don't need except leaving Standard, Web,.
and the network running. (Double-click the blue icon - look OK. - upper left - Shields details
Finish those you don't use).
http://www.avast.com/free-antivirus-download#TAB4
Or use Microsoft Security Essentials - free
http://www.Microsoft.com/Security_Essentials/
Prevx works well alongside MSE or Avast
Prevx - home - free small, fast, exceptional protection CLOUD, working with other security
programs. It is a single scanner, VERY EFFICIENT, if it finds something come back here
or use Google to see how to remove.
http://www.prevx.com/ <-->-->
http://info.prevx.com/downloadcsi.asp <-->-->
PCmag - Prevx - Editor's choice
http://www.PCMag.com/Article2/0, 2817,2346862,00.asp
Also get Malwarebytes - free - use as scanner only. If you ever think malware and that
would be unusual with Avast and occasional Prevx running with the exception of a low level cookie
(not much), to UPDATE and then run it as a scanner. I have a lot of scanners and they
never find anything of note that I started to use this configuration.

I hope this helps.

After you have uninstalled McAfee, my Wifi does not work (only works LAN connection)
After you have uninstalled McAfee, my Wifi does not work (only works LAN connection). Troubleshooting message is "windows could automatically bind the ip Protocol to the ip stack.
New Aspire E11, Windows 8.1
Help, please.
Here is how I fixed it:
Go to control panel > network and Internet > network sharing Center
Click on "Change adapter settings" in the left pane.
Right click on your map. Select "Properties".
There will be a box titled "this connection uses the following items."
Uncheck anything that looks like it was installed by a third party (AVG, Avast, ZoneAlarm). In my case, the culprit was 'HTC NDIS Protocol Driver", who was installed by the software of my phone (HTC). Because it's not obvious what to uncheck, here is what I currently have checked in my system of work which should not cause a problem:
KEEP THESE CHECKED:
Client for Microsoft networks
QoS Packet Scheduler
File and Printer Sharing
IP v6
Internet Protocol v4
Driver Link-Layer Topology Discovery map IO
Link-Layer Topology Discovery recallUncheck everything else.
Go to network and sharing, disable and re-enable the adapter.

Vista: Can I stop/uninstall AVG before you run WU?
I have an eMachines T3616 with Windows Vista Home Edition, put 2 GB RAM, 120GB HD, AMD SEMPRON 3600 +, Internet Explorer 7.0.6002.18005CO and free Antivirus AVG 9.0.862 upgraded. I don't have a product of firewall-Windows Defender.
I couldn't update this machine, probably dating from some time in 2009, because after running Windows Update as specified, it hangs during reboot it with fan CPU clocked at a constant high speed and finally stopped apparently by a fail-safe in the material to protect the system against damage from overheating. Only after a long process of repair of the start and am system restore I was able to start using the system normally, even if the problem is exacerbated by the fact that we can not properly keep the room where the computer is kept at the right temperature and moisture.
I also had problems in the past, when, using particularly heavy-CPU-using applications, even in many cases Internet Explorer, the fan on the CPU at those hours will also work, and in rare cases, stop the system is on top. (I have for the most part mitigated these problems ranging in Power Options and reduce the maximum CPU power, although of course this tends to compromise performance).
I saw elsewhere that AVG might be the cause of the restart problem, and unfortunately I start other problems ('abandoned operation' error on Web sites, for the most part) that the 'experts' insist only can be fixed by upgrading to Internet Explorer 8.
If I have to completely uninstall AVG for updating the machine without encountering this problem, or could the anti-virus product just be temporarily disabled before execution of WU?
Or is there another system problem or hardware I should be addressed?
I suspect that you see the effects of a long-standing infection hijackware, Bob.
But since you are now lack more dollars a year of critical security updates, it would be a waste of time (yours & mine) and money (your own) trying to get this cleaned up computer.

NOTE: If your computer came with a set of disks, there is a hidden partition restore (not to be confused with the restoration of the system) you would use to do the clean install (AKA a "destructive recovery").
After the new installation, you will have the equivalent of a "new computer" in order to take care of EVERYTHING on the next page before connecting the machine to the internet or one local network (i.e. other computers) AND BEFORE to plug in a flash, SD card, or any other external drive to the computer otherwise:

VERY IMPORTANT!-online Any Norton or McAfee free trial which is preinstalled on the computer when you bought will be reinstalled (but invalid) when Windows is reinstalled. You MUST uninstall the trial for free AND download/run the removal tool appropriate prior to installing the updates, Windows Service Packs or IE upgrades AND BEFORE installing your new anti-virus application. Sorry I'm new. I accidentally deleted windows Defender. So I tried to install just that - it did not work, so I uninstall and then reinstalled and it still does not work. I'm a great Grandma with no. kids to help hope someone can - thank you.
Hello
Here is the Vista Forums.
If you have uninstalled then reinstalled Defender using Vista.
Defender is part of the Vista operating system.
Read this information on the Defender:
If you use Norton, AVG, Avira, Microsoft Security Essentials, McAfee, etc. the default action is for Windows Defender must be disabled, that these AntiVirus programs have their own Antispyware Applications.
There is nothing to worry.
Using both programs at the same time can cause system conflicts, etc.
If you are using one of the above AntiVirus programs, this Information from David O - Support Engineer shows you how to manually enable Windows Defender (disregard information from uninstalling; not possible in Vista):
"Go to start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Look for Windows Defender.
Right click and select Properties , ensure that Startup Type is automatic.
Once modified, click apply and OK.
Quit and restart your computer. Check the back take the same path to confirm that Windows Defender has started"
.
If you want to have additional protection against malware using the version FREE of Malwarebytes AntiMalware:
http://www.Malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
And for now, change startup Vista programs without using Defender, use one of these methods:
"How to use MSCONFIG in Windows Vista"
http://netsquirrel.com/Msconfig/msconfig_vista.html
Or the program Autoruns for FREE:
"V11.21 Autoruns for Windows"

See you soon.

I installed a trial of avg vertion, seeing that I have only 22 days of free trial, I changed my mind. In addition, my computer began to close and restart continuously, so I used system restore to go back to before the installation of this particular avg, but I used avg free 9.o. After the system restore, my computer is more closed suddengly & restart again but now I want to uninstall avg free 9.0 because it's showing out n the Security Center and I can't turn it back on t. In the judgment, it does not work so I decided to take down a new free version of avg, but to try to install it, I get this error message - @FinalDlg_default_logfile_name
