  Usually, when I insert SD card pictures my camera automatically opens and new photos or videos are imported.  Now, all of a sudden, Photos is not recognized my SD card when I put it in the slot.  Has there been a recent update that Apple for some reason any excludes some SD cards?  I'm totally up-to-date.  I don't know what to do - I can't access my photos.  Help!

  I have an iPhone 4 that works very well. I have a Gateway Fx MS2252 P- 7805U laptop from Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS. I used to be able to connect my phone to my computer to sync, but this last may my laptop caught a virus and crashed... I took it to a computer repair place and they saved my info and completely reinstalled all windows.

  The problem is that now my computer does not work with my iPhone. Here are the symptoms:
  -I plug my iPhone and I have three short beeps, and it does not appear in computer or iTunes.
  -J' uninstalled the driver Apple Mobile Device Manager and then plugged my phone back so that he would be re - install, but the installation is always unsuccessful.
  -J' plugged my iPhone on another PC with iTunes and it works fine - so I know that the problem is in my own computer.
  -In addition, the version of Windows, they gave me will be not updated.

  I have an iPhone 5 and a Macbook Pro of the retina. Both are updated and works great except that I can't get my Photos app to recognize that my iPhone is plugged. I have not yet owned this Macbook Pro for more than a week yet and it's brand new. I had my iPhone in January is also new. My iTunes is picking up that my iPhone is plugged, but my Photos app refuses to do... When I plugged in for the first time my phone into the laptop, the other day, I was in a hurry and did not want to import all the photos in time but my Photos app picked up my iPhone.   I don't understand why the Photos app isn't picking it up but still iTunes. I never had these problems with iPhoto and iTunes on my old Macbook.

  I had the same problem with two separate iPhones on Windows XP.  I went into Device Manager to check the driver.  Under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers", find "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver".  Double-click on it, go to the tab "Driver", then "Update Driver".

  You may need to do more than once, and I don't know if it makes a difference, but I made sure that I actually had a few photos on the iPhone when I did.

  I understand that you are not able to get iTunes to recognize your iPhone, now that you have updated your iPhone to iOS 10. That you have described here some quite impressive troubleshooting in-depth. Fortunately, however, it may well be a few additional things to try in this situation.

  If your iOS device does not appear in iTunes, try the following:

  1. Open Control Panel > Device Manager
  2. Plug in your device
  3. Locate Bus USB Controllers > Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.
     It is also possible that the device may appear under imaging devices, portable devices or other devices or as a device USB of MTB.
     
  4. Right-click and select software update of the driver...
  5. Click Browse my computer for driver software
  6. Go to C:\Program Files\Common Apple Mobile Device Support\Drivers or
     C:\Program Files (x 86) \Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
  7. Click on let me pick from a list of drivers for devices on my computer
  8. Click on Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
  9. Click Next, then close and exit the Device Manager

  To step 3 above, open the Device Manager. Expand one of the articles that are listed.

  • Portable devices
  • Other devices

  P.S. I use the latest operating systems on all my devices (El Capitan and iOS). I looked in the settings in the Photos on my iMac, my iPhone, iTunes, etc. but have not yet seen anything to change this behavior. I guess I just missed it somewhere.

  Fix the iPhone. When photo is open, select iPhone in the sidebar and uncheck the box at the top.
