  I see that the D-Link adapter is on the HCL. This card uses a Realtek chipset and not suitable for ESXi. The Intel card intel pro/1000 Gt is supported.

  Sorry, but I think I put t understand you well.
  Are you looking for an update of firmware from the LAN card or did you mean the LAN card drivers?
  To my knowledge, there are only drivers for network card and I never heard of updates of firmware set apart on the CD/DVD drive.

  In any case, on the Toshiba page, you will find different LAN drivers for different LAN cards. It depends on the model you own.
  There are 3 different models of P100, so you must select one that suits.

  To answer one of your questions, there are many benefits to using the driver of high performance when they are available:

  • Optimized for the data is copied as little as possible with the load low. Pure performance gains are difficult to quantify, because they depend on many conditions.   Welcome to the VMware community forums.  If a NETWORK adapter requires a driver e1000e because it seems to be the case with your network cards, then it will not work with the e1000 or other Intel drivers that come with ESX (i).  This NETWORK adapter requires Intel / VMware to compile a version e1000e driver for ESX (i).

• ESX 4.1.0 detects no no new Quad port NIC

  I came to work today to install some other Quad Port NIC in our ESX 4.1 cluster.

  I bought Intel Gig ET2 Quads to go with the Intel Pro/1000 PT Quad already installed on host computers.

  The ET2s are not detected by ESX but I can put an another Pro/1000 PT in and which will be displayed.

  The ET2 is on the HCL for esx4.1, so it's a matter of not being able to mix and match the network interface cards? Or is there something I need to do to get it to load the drivers?

  I wanted to get the ET2s in there for the unloading of network processor. but I have enough to replace all NICs outright.  We are in a transitional phase and are in need of more ports uplink for a few months but the ET2 seems to be a better card.
