  1. type the command in the dialog box RUN to open the command prompt

  2. when the command prompt comes up, type cd \windows

  3. type regedit to open the registry.

  4. expand HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT and find the .exe file

  5. without it, developing the main folder .exe , right-click (default) right and the change . Change the value in exefile data

  6. in the same HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT , find the folder items exefile and click right (default) and the change . Change the value data to "% 1" % *

  7. Finally extend exefile , expand shell , Open , click the file command , right-click (default) and change . Change the value data to "% 1" % *

  8. close Regedit and restart the computer. When the computer reboots, EXE files should not prompt you to choose a program to run now and load correctly.

  Once these steps have been completed scan of your laptop for any virus/malware/Trojan horses and you should find this:

  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\regfile\shell\open\command\ (Default) (Broken.OpenCommand)-> Bad: (like Notepad. (Good EXE 1%): (regedit.exe "%1")-> quarantined and deleted successfully.
  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.exe\(default) (Hijacked.exeFile )-> Bad: (secfile) good: (exefile)-> quarantined and deleted successfully.

  Once everything has been cleaned, you should be good to use your laptop again.

  As the title indicates, none of my executables will open his; on the contrary, when I click on an icon or similar function (as in the start menu), I'm inclined to the screen 'open with... ». I noticed that most often, if I run the program as administrator, it is likely to work without having to manually find the file - still a bit tedious however.

  I'm assuming that since I was recently hit by the virus which is a fake Windows Security Center, something my registry has also been hit (take into account the fact that I'm not savvy computer in the slightest). It happened on my user account initial and rather than take action on the right, then, I decided that I would use the other account that I had to install a program better anti-virus (Norton provided ISP) than the one I had been using (the two admin). At that point, I had finished all my activity moved to the new account and it worked very well until the virus had one possessing this account as well - delete on the first user account seemed to have deleted only the effects of my account but still affected everything I did after that. This time, I went and deleted all accounts and checked to ensure that it is not at all. After getting rid of the virus, it's the same thing: none of my .exe files will open without using the monitor "open with...". ». I'm not really sure what action to take from here, I have not done much to remedy the situation, and I'm going right through the screen of "open with...". "to get to what whatever - so any suggestions or help would be very appreciated.

  In general you can not do this on anything other than an intranet. Is it
  where you work? If so, then you should investigate using
  ActiveX to run this exe file - check the Microsoft site...

• Help! Virus deleted system files

  When I went to a Web site, I suddenly received warnings of virus and I did a hard reboot to stop all activity.  When my computer is back, a virus had control of Internet Explorer and it kept popping up small balloons of warning.  I disabled the modem to prevent the virus to assess more resources online.  Using the Task Manager, I decided that a process called av.exe was responsible and I closed it (I run AVG, but it had been wound up).  Then I went in the Solution Explorer, located av.exe in my settings folder and delete it.  I started AVG and it allows to scan my computer, but he found nothing apart from all the cookies.

  Restarting my computer was when I noticed problems/damages.  There can be no more file associations.  When I tried regedit, it didn't know how to do this.  He doesn't know how to run any basic program.  Look in the Solution Explorer, I noticed that the system files (io.sys, msdos.sys, config.sys and autoexec.bat - no other sys files) on the root directory are now 0 KB.

  I think that the virus has disappeared, but now my computer is paralyzed.  I got my OS from a dealer and I do not know if it is still active with no way to travel and my phone through my computer.  I want to d/l the system files that I need.  Can anyone help?

  Very much sounds like you were attacked by a security program thugs and that also your computer is not clean. You need to do a more thorough cleaning because AVG alone will not do the job.

  The files you mentioned are not part of Windows XP and are there only for backwards compatibility with older software. Once you have cleaned your computer, problems can all be gone/repaired. If this isn't the case, you will need to have a copy of Windows for resettlement. I'll give you the link of the malware removal, but based on your post and without any intention to offend you, it would probably be best if you took the machine (or if someone had come on the spot to pick it up) to a local professional. This is not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad of the place.

  The other day, I clicked on a risky link who brought up a JavaScript message in my chrome window, with an option to click to go somewhere to "scan my computer a virus.   I need to disable the ability of application full screen to turn off the screen and start screen saver. Basically just need to it:

  When there is no entry in the application that is running in full-screen, I want to turn on the screen saver and turn off the display. As far as I know, the windows default settings is to prevent turning on the screen saver during modes full screen.
