Help! Cannot add role or Clone in VMware ESX 3.5 Update 3

I just rebuilt our ESX server using the latest version of VMware ESXi 3.5 Update 3.

After installation and configuration of the system, I went a head and tried to add a role on the Administration tab. From there, I noticed that when I clicked 'OK' the system wouldn't take the input and create a role. I also tried to clone and does not go beyond by clicking on 'OK '.

Has anyone seen this issue or know a possible resolution? I checked the research and am still trying Googling for it.

P.S. I restarted the machine several times as well and am using the administrator account.

Thank you!

What happens if you close the VIC and open again?  I tested just to add a role, and it appeared immediately.

    Dear friends;

I heard that VMware releases update for VMware ESX 4.1 update 1. Could you please tell me if this is correct?

And would you please reference me this article?

ESX will not available in vSphere 5.0. It will be always supported in the same way that VI 3.5 is still supported, however. Here's an official blog stating that ESX 4.1 is the latest major version of ESX.

With the release of VMware vSphere 4.1, we announced that 4.1 will be the last version of vSphere to support the ESX and ESXi hypervisor architectures.

NFS server is Win2008 R2 to NFS server process running.  Sharing is visible from the share and storage management snap-in.  Sharing is configured as read-only, but it is just a repository for. ISO files anyway, so I don't really want that it is writable.

    Any help would be appreciated.

You have configured the Windows NFS share like that?

With the esxcli command, below, I could mount the part mentioned above without any problems. Note that I put the root access bit allow under the Advanced NFS share permissions. Who can solve your problem if you have not activated it.

    Hello

Make sure that you follow all the steps here:

To be able to add cards to pay Apple on your watch, you must have the region setting chosen for her (like on your iPhone):

    • On your iPhone, in the application of the watch, go to: Watch My > general > language and region - check Format correct region is selected.
    • If they are already correct, try reselecting the same Format of the region and also the language of the system itself.

  • VMware ESX 4.0 Update 1 with HP LeftHand P4500 Thin Provisioning (SAN based and client based?)

I know with ESX 4.0 that you now have the option to select a provisioning on the side of ESX.  I'm already thin provisioning my LUN on the left side.  I do both or just the side SAN?  Also, I heard some people say that it is better to use a block size of 8MB for best peformance of SAN, do you think it is recommended/best practices as well?  Thanks in advance.

The point to offer 8 MB block sizes is flexibility.  Because you cannot change the size of the block without reformatting the VMFS file system, you probably don't want to need to.  There is a great overview of a few points on this theme to the yellowwire from bricks.  I recommend you start here and follow the links.  It only takes 5-10 minutes, and you will be able to make your own choices.  For us, we're all migrate to blocks of 8 MB.

What about thin provisioning, I have no practical experience.  But here's my point: If you sell thin anywhere, you have a more complicated system to follow in terms of space put into service and space required.  Must be taken account of this that data may coming in the future, or you might run out of space.  So, I ask you where you want to configure the monitoring of the use of space and how you want to administer the storage.  If you want to do on the primary server, and then stick with that.  If you want your VMware administrators to manage management, then do it in VMware.

My recommendation: If you're already doing it on the back-end successfully, then stick with what you have.  Whatever it is, do it only in one place.  Otherwise, you're probably too complicate your configuration.

    Hi all

We are running VMware ESX 3.5 Update 3 on a G4 HP Proliant DL 380 with a Raid Smart Array 6i controller (this is our test platform).

Since the VI Client, it is not possible to add a data store that corresponds to a local 200 GB Raid5 volume.  I can see this disc in the "Storage adapters" section (path: vmhba0:1:0, LUN ID = 0).

We have updated the firmware on our server is no problem of conformity between VMware ESX and such old material?

Thank you very much in advance for your help

  • VMWare ESX 3.5 - Build number

    Hello

As I discovered, the build number for ESX 3.5 Update 5 is "207095".

Currently, the "213532" version, but I've never installed update 5. Update 4 was installed and would invest it has been updated with Update Manager. So my question is...

VMWare View 4.0 should VMWare ESX 3.5 Update 3 or 4, so in principle, we have 'only' 4 update is installed, but the version number is higher and is in line with the update 5 or greater. So, what's my real condition now? Thanks for help.

3 restart the agent SNMP - /etc/init.d/snmpd restart

    Hello

Implimentation SNMP in vSphere 4.0 differs from ESX 3.5.x.

You need to download a zip file containing all of the SMIv2 (RFC2578/STD58)

compliant MIB modules for use with ESX/ESXi and vCenter with

related application notes. These MIB modules support all ESX, ESXi

and vCenter product releases through version 4.0.

  • VMware ESX 3.5 and disabling carrots

    Hi all

We have a Cluster ESX from VMware ESX 3.5 U3 that was built for a specific product that has a licensing model that doesn't fit well with the virtual server running model.

The basis of this cluster is 3 x BL465c G1 Dual Core servers HP with 16 GB of memory each. We're going to run out of memory, and I can't add memory without add because of the architecture of AMD processors.

Adding more CPU will have a big impact on licensing costs - once again not the licenses of VMware.

I want to do is add a second processor DC and then use BIOS to disable half of the cores in each processor.  This will allow me to add an extra 16 GB memory per server and stay within the limits of the license.

My question - has anyone with disabilities hearts on a host ESX from VMware, specifically after ESX has been installed. All that needs to be done?

I tested the disabling function of carrots on a Windows Server and who did replace the drivers, I was wondering if VMware ESX should similar updates / management.

    Rob of TIA.

You'll be fine, apart from the fact that, by adding the Jepp second you will need an additional CPU, per ESX host licensing doesn't mind.

The only part of the issue is the definition of process, so you can remove the other objects from the xml file.

  • Integration of the NAC Profiler - cannot add list of filters on cam

    Hi all

I have a problem with the Profiler - integration of the NAC for endpoint profiling.

    Here's the situation:

I have already created the integration based on the steps in the Guide: Setup Cisco NAC Appliance integration. I think that the configuration is correct, because I can do database synchronization between the Profiler and CAM. Here's the log of server profile:

    NAC_SYNC: Task_Queue_Runner commissioning
NAC_SYNC: Profiler / END of synchronization of the NAC [add 0, upd 0, desc 0, rm 0]
NAC_SYNC: Profiler / START the synchronization of the NAC
    INFO: [2010-12-15 11:01:09 (fcapGetHWAddr:49)] is for eth0 MAC

I have already created a profile of endpoint named "Admin" which is based on the IP address. I also created the NAC events based on endpoint profile 'Admin '.

The event of the NAC will present 'Admin' profile to a role of the NAC. This event aims to circumvent 'Admin' of the legalisation of the ANC visa so that the "Admin" can connect to the network automatically to a role of the NAC.

However, when 'Admin' to connect to the network, it still is challanged by NAC. I don't see "Admin" on the filter of the CAM or the list.

This means that the endpoint profiling is still broken.

Is there anyone who have experience with this?

Thanks for the support and comments

    Imad

    Hello

You cannot add devices manually on the profiler.

The Profiler has to detect automatically (it is the concept of profiling).

How this Profiler detects endpoints use the modules of collector.

Each module has endpoints detection means.

You will find the description of each collector module here:

    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/security/nac/profiler/configuration_guide/311/p_intro231.html#wp1062345.
