  I'm having a problem with the auto arrange feature that automatically organizes the icons on the desktop whenever I restart my computer it self organizes icons. I do not have the option selected when I click right/rearrange the icons by / auto arrange also lock web items on desktop is disabled.

  I am able to rearrange my icons after I am starting up, but whenever I restart it rearrange my icons.

  After checking several forums seems whether an error in Windows XP and that the solution is to create a new user profile and start from scrach.

  No, no changes that could cause this problem, I tried 2 methods without success, but here is the solution:

  1. data of the user backup (My Documents, Favorites, desktop)

  2 remove the user profile

  3. connect you again with this user to create new user profile

  4 restore the user data

  And voila! Automatic reorganization works as it should once more!

  Hope this help others causes this problem on internet research will take you to several non-functional solutions.

  Welcome to the Microsoft community forums. Let me help you with your concern. You may experience this problem if align icons on the grid is enabled. Follow these steps and check.

  1. Right-click on the desktop.

  2. Select display, uncheck Align icons to grid and the auto arrange icons.

  3. Now move the desktop icons, restart the computer and check.

  I have Firefox on my Windows XP... recently when trying to click on an icon on my desktop, icons will start flickering and I have to go to the getting started section and click the icon of my Internet to access my Facebook Homepage.   I use an iMac 24 "mid-2007. The help documentation tells me how to assign an application to a space is to use this Option. But it does not, while the other three are. Is this an error or something that can be explained? Could there be a work around? My OS is El Capitan.

  I understand you are trying to set an application to open its windows on a particular space. To do this, move to the space that you want to use for the desired application, and then choose 'The Office' in the list of options you mentioned see (under Options).

  The option that you describe as missing is displayed only if you have connected an additional external display to your iMac and would set the app to open on the iMac screen or the external display.

  Office on the screen [number]: the application opens in the current space on a specific screen (if more than one display is available).

  Since I had to perform a recovery, now the icons on my desktop do not connect anything.  I have to go on msn.com and put the entire address.  I tried to raise a program and make a new shortcut icon, but that does not work either.

  2 are you able to open the desktop icons?

  Method 1: I would say allowing you to run fix the link and check if it helps.

  Method 2: try to rebuild the icon cache and see if that fixes the problem.

  a. open the Start Menu and type cmd in the search box and press on enter.

  b. in the command prompt, type each command line below one at a time then press ENTER after each single line.

  CD /d %userprofile%\AppData\Local

  DEL /a IconCache.db

  OUTPUT

  c. log off and log on, or restart the computer to recreate the icon cache.

  NOTE: This helps rebuild and recreate a new file IconCache.db.
