HELP improve the hard drive on my 615 options

Hello

I have a portable 615 and my hard drive is only 160 GB, one partition is already devoted to the recovery. My disk got full pretty quickly, I'm looking

to upgrade in 2.5 "SATA 500 GB at least and more and 7200 RPM buffer at least 16 MB since the differences in prices are low. However HP States that 500 GB drives as an option so therefore:

1 - does anyone tried or know if I can install disks of more large as 640 or 750 or same capacity 1 TB (at 7200 RPM SATA), and what should I do to manage this update of bios or something else?

2. is there a way to include the recovery on my new drive partition so that I can get back to any failure and how is it possible to copy this image?

Thanks a lot for any help or suggestion is welcome

Thanks a lot for your help

  • Help pass the hard drives of a scsi controller to another scsi controller!

    Hello

I deployed a cluster of virtual machines from a template and trying to customize them according to the requirement. I called one of the post and used the code below. Changed the settings of the virtual machines, but the image is corrupt all the time.

    # get the virtual computer object

    $vmVMSTORE23 = get - VM VMSTORE23

    # a thin in the storageformat of hard disk

    $vmVMSTORE23 | Get-hard drive | Together-hard drive - thin StorageFormat

    # define the type of SCSI controller

    $vmVMSTORE23 | Get-SCSI controller. Set controller SCSI-type VirtualLsiLogicSAS

I tried the other way, adding a new scsi controller and move the existing hard disks to the new controller scsi. A hard disk created along deployment of a model does not again move scsi controller and vm tries to start node scsi 1:0 and no node scsi 0:1. This is the snap of code I used

    $VirtualMachinesDetails | % {New-disk-hard - VM $_.} Name - CapacityGB 1 - Datastore (Get-Datastore $_.) (Magasin de données)-persistence IndependentNonPersistent-confirm: $false} (disc 2)

    $VirtualMachinesDetails | % {New-disk-hard - VM $_.} {Name - DiskType $_.rawtype - Devicename $_ .rdm1 - confirm: $false} (Disc 3)

    $VirtualMachinesDetails | % {New-disk-hard - VM $_.} {Name - DiskType $_.rawtype - Devicename $_ .rdm2 - confirm: $false} (drive 4)

    $disk = $VirtualMachinesDetails | % {Get-disk hard - VM $_.} Name | Select the option - 4 first}

    $VirtualMachinesDetails | % {New-SCSI - HDD controller $disk - type $_.} Type}

Someone please help me with this.

    Thanks in advance

    SAI

What I wanted to say, create a new hard drive with the new type of controller.

    Like this

    $vmName = "TestVM"$VM = Get-VM -Name $vmName

    New-HardDisk -VM $vm -CapacityGB 1 -ThinProvisioned | New-ScsiController -Type VirtualLsiLogicSAS

Then restart the virtual machine and the guest operating system must take care of the driver.

Once the driver is installed in the guest operating system, you can move the hard disk that contains the system partition to the new controller.

    $vmName = "TestVM"$VM = Get-VM -Name $vmName

    $controller = Get-ScsiController -Name "SCSI Controller 1" -VM $vmyGet-HardDisk -VM $VM -Name "Hard disk 1" | Set-HardDisk -Controller $controller -Confirm:$false

  • 1297cb HP P7: lack of response from the hard drive or windows 7 to my monitor help

Greetings.  I have a HP P7 1297cb, all original material except the memory and hard drive.

Original OS at home, is now Pro.
I thought that my hard drive has expired and bought a new WD 2 TB black.
And I don't have the other HDD cause I already threw out.

So, here I am.   I installed the WD Black again and nothing.  Monitor powers and that's it.
I get a hard drive light to everything first, about 5 to 10 seconds and off.  Touch HD and feels light low race.
All fans and fees lights.  Power light on.

No NumLock or number lock lights.  Œuvres and key/monitor / mouse, as I am with them now.

Shot four sticks of 2 GB memory and get the beep.  One at a time plugged in no beeps and back in.
You use a Windows 7 Pro disk rebuild for installation.  When the computer starts, I tried F10, F12 and nothing.
I even pulled the mobo battery for a few seconds.
I disconnected the power supply cord (pc) and held in the power button for about 30 seconds.
I even turned on with the installation disc in and waited (until at least 20 minutes) to see if the screen would change nothing.
I am willing to check the cpu, which remains the only thing to check, I'm guessing that about it.
I get no beep or beeps when the pc starts.

So, I guess also, that my problem was not the hard drive in the first place. ???
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I don't know what a "Windows 7 Pro Rebuild disk'- so I don't know if it's any bootable media.

Unless you changed the default device sequence in the start section of the configuration of the BIOS, it will look at the HDD FIRST and since it is empty, the PC will simply sit there - nothing to do.

So, you must get to a boot device selection screen to boot from the DVD of Win7.

The typical ways of doing are to press F9 or F12 - one of them will be implemented a unique boot device selection menu.  Then, you select the DVD drive and the PC should then restart.

It can display a line of text at the top of the screen, something like «press any key to boot from...» "If Yes, press the space bar.

If the DVD is good, the PC will then start on the initial screen for the installation of Windows.

    Good luck

    Hello

You can get a new hard drive and reinstall Windows on it.

Check with the manufacturer of system for options.

If it will run Windows 7, which would be the best option.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

If they were under a court order to return the computer of course sounds like they should have to
Return it with a drive hard and in good condition. Mybe not because I don't know any of the details.

    I hope this helps.

  • Bad sectors on the hard drive; help to isolate or repair

Hello, recently I discovered that my windows get to slump that closely mimics a gel at a random time. After a lot of research on this topic, I did several diagnostic tests on my laptop and finally reduced to my hard drive.
The problem is evident for the following reasons:
    • When I tried to run chkdsk/r/f, which is always translated by he stuck to "step 4: check the data in the file" around 70%.
    • When the slowdown occurs, the resource monitor from Task Manager for the disk activity showed 1 KB/s (not sure if this is suspicious)
    • Tried various hard drive diagnostic tools. WinDLG gets blocked for a certain sector, but has never even if I waited for 6 h +. SeaTools for DOS has reported that the hard drive failed the tests. Dell diagnostic tool also pointed out the hard drive, is not the test of confidence in some sectors. Toshiba Diagnostics tool did not work as I could not highlight the readers so he could test.
Formally, this means that I have bad sectors on the hard drive and I want to know if there are solutions to 'fix' or isolate him rather than replace the hard drive. The hard drive is only a year old and I would like to get as much time as I can with the drive without having to spend on a new.
In addition, I also came to this post here which seems to reflect the same situation:
However, there are a few parts where I am confused and does not really apply to my situation (for example, meanwhile his stage 5, for me its stage 4). Thanks in advance for any help.

CHKDSK does not indicate a failing hard drive, it indicates problems with the filesystem (NTFS.sys) hard disk.  I like to repeat because that may indicate more out of trouble (if you get several times CHKDSK repair things, then something else is the cause).

    That's what I'm looking for:
"Windows has made corrections to the file system."
    Know me mistakes.

DO NOT use the drivers from the resource CD.  They are overwhelmed when you get them.  Go to the Dell support site and download the latest versions here.

Unfortunately, unless your highly qualified with a soldering iron on small electric parts, then there is no replacement of the part.  Also unfortunately, there is no test for a motherboard problem, so we have to everything else on the rule.

If it passes all the tests, it indicates that it passed all tests.  All these tests are software - they can not physically 'see' a hardware problem, but can deduct that it based on the results of the tests.

I suggest you a few additional tests before start thinking that it's the mobo.  They are Prime95 test and tests stress CPU at this link: http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

I also suggest another facility 'clean' - just to be sure.  Here's what I propose for a clean install:
    [quote]
For testing purposes, it is best to install Windows "clean".
It is, basically, install the way that Microsoft intended (with the drivers from Windows Update).
This procedure is for Windows 7, Vista is similar (but has 2 service packs)

You will need your installation/recovery DVD (s) before you start.  Once you wipe the hard drive, there is no going back!

1 back up all your data.
It will wipe everything off of your hard drive, so what you want to keep should be backed up elsewhere.

[b] [u] NOTES: [/ b] [/ u] If this is due to an infection, remember to analyze the data with current antivirus to another system to locate and remove malware.

    2. connect the system to the internet (if the system shows then disconnect from the Internet, do).

    3. use one of these free utilities to wipe the hard drive:
    DBAN (http://www.dban.org/download)
    KillDisk (http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm).
This will remove also any partition system - then the intallation/recovery recovery DVD are essential!

    4. install Windows by booting from the installation/recovery DVD - [b] [u] DO NOT change any settings! [/ u] [/ b]

5 visit Windows Update and get all updates

6 visit Windows Update and download the Service Pack 1 (normally under important updates).  Read these notes for installing SP1: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2505743

7 visit Windows Update and get any other available updates

    8. check device for all unknown/disabled devices Manager - if there are unknown disabled devices, secure them with the latest drivers from the website of the manufacturer of the device (not the PC manufacturer)

9 download, install and update a free antivirus, so it does not get infected during the test (http://www.carrona.org/freeav.html).

[u] if problems persist [/ u], the problem is probably with your hardware.

[b] [u] warning: [/ u] [/ b] If you have an Asus motherboard, check the date on the file C:\Windows\System32\driver\ASACPI.sys.  2004/2005 is a problem, 2009,2010 is OK.  Updates are available on the Web from Asus site.

  • Transfer of files from the old HARD DRIVE to new computer without an old computer. (He's dead - can not use) I have the hard drive, but need help to transfer my old files and settings.

    ·        My old Win XP computer died - it is completely unusable. I bought a new PC with Win 7 Pro and 1 TB. I still have the old HARD DRIVE (250 GB) which I have attached on the new computer using an external enclosure supports SATA drives. The external hard drive is connected to the computer in USB 3.0. I checked that the new computer can see the external hard drive. (I also used for backups by changing the hard drive with a 2 TB drive 'mass storage' - that works.)

I searched the internet for possible solutions and found no help. If the transfer of files from Microsoft would change the disc to analyze, it would be simple. But if I select the OLD computer it scans the disk I'm on (new) - automatically.

Is there anyone who has had the same problem? He must be because computers die all the time and people buy new computers - who then, somehow, they get the former transferred files. I could do it manually, but that wouldn't change the settings. Last resort would be to buy an old computer XP (SATA), replace the drive. Transfer the files, and then sell this computer.

You may be able to recover your data files, but I hope that you will set up your new system to automatically backup a second internal hard drive or an external USB hard drive.

This suggestion may not work, but it's worth a try. Buy an external USB drive enclosure. They come in two sizes 2.5 "for the portable computer drives and 3.5" for desktop disks. You can purchase adapters for 3.5 "envelopes so that they can also be used with a portable player. Place the hard drive in the enclosure and connect to a USB port of another computer. Several hard disks are more able to start, but the contents of the disc can still be accessed, read and copied from the disk because you do not use the operating system on a failed disk.

Here is an example of the type of device, I suggest:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=external+hardrive+enclosure&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=14388537836&hvpos=1t1&hvexid=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=556960941559985931&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=b&ref=pd_sl_32uorbwbuk_b

You need only to the speaker, that you see are not necessarily more expensive. Thereafter, you can put an old hard drive usable, an abandoned because you need a larger drive internal, in the enclosure and use it as additional external storage.

My previous version of windows (which is already installed on the hard drive) will erase if I boot from a bootable USB. Please help me!

When you upgrade to 8.1 Windows it will replace your Windows 8.0. The only way I know to have both is to buy a copy of Windows 8.1 and install on another partition or drive.  Hope this helps and if you need another post to help and we will be happy to help you.

  • With the help of successful library - Photos can delete originals on the hard drive?

I have "manually manage" my Apple photo library (that is, what some call the "referenced" option).

I created a smart photo album I want to permanently remove it from my Mac (out of focus, test shots, etc.). I'm curious to know if there is a way to use the Photo app to actually remove the vs photos through my individual files to perform this operation manually. This would be similar to iTunes when you remove the music, he asks if you want to delete the original files.

I figured out how "reveal in finder" - but that does not let me do a single image at a time. I would rather try to make it in bulk.

To be clear, I know how to remove pictures of pictures. I would go a little further and remove them from my Mac altogether.

If you use a library "referenced" then it is your responsibility to delete the source files / referenced from the drive hard when you delete them from the photo library.  I have not seen any solution mentioned in these forums on how to automatically delete the source files.  One of the several disadvantages to manage a library of reference.

If the extra work required to locate and delete the source files became too much, you can always consolidate library while it's now a "managed" and then deleting the library library will remove the files from the hard drive as well.

  • Need help to remove the hard drive from a Satellite Pro M10

Hi, a good will would point me in the right direction. I am trying to remove the HD from a satellite pro M10.
I discovered the net without success.

A diagram with being usefully etc.

    kind regards J

    Hello

I can't give you a diagram or something, but I can give an indication to take a look on the front left side of your machine. On this corner of the left side under the volume control is a small blanket where the HARD drive is in. You need only to unscrew the 2 screws that are accessible when you turn on your machine and and look at the bottom of your machine. Do you know what I mean?

When you remove these 2 screws, you need to remove the HARD drive by taking some screwdriver flat-blade and paste between the disc cover and HARD case. Then carefully remove the cover of the HARD drive and you can recover the HARD drive with the cover and exchange it.

Voila, your hard drive West. It s is not difficult at all.

But if you still have some questions then request.

    Welcome them

  • Help a fool please ~ deleted partition, lost the hard drive size

I'll try my best to make this as clear as possible, thank you for your time...

Received my free copy of windows 7 home Premium

Wanted a clean install (not an upgrade)

Back up all the data and the programs that I installed

During the installation of win 7, I deleted the recovery of the system partition and the 2nd partition of my HARD disk (has been labeled d, came that sort of lenovo factory, had 70 GB size I think)

I thought that if I deleted the partition of the hard drive space would be added to the 1st partition and it did not

Have materialized with the installation of win 7, and now I just have never found my C: and the GBs of the 2nd old partition so its as if I lowered my total HARD disk size

How can I get my C: to have all of the 320 GB? Thanks for any advice!

You can allocate the unused disk space as follows.

    Start > run > diskmgmt.msc

Right-click on the Windows partition [should be C] and click on "expand". Extend partition as needed and enjoy.
