Help! -Live Web Cam Chat in an E-Learning Session of Captivate

I really hope that someone can help me with this one.  I do an e-learning session in Adobe Captivate, which must contain a live cam on the web chat.  I was thinking about creating a flash video to record the live web cam chat, but have no idea how do.  Unfortunately it is a skill that I have not had the opportunity to learn and have never had to do this before.  Its very new and advanced for me!

Please help someone!

Thank you very much

Lisa

Hi Lisa

Very well. Gotcha!

To start, you will not want to Captivate allows to capture Web Chat. I recently tried some full motion using Captivate 4 and it is rarely going to give you anything remotely close to what you want. So, you will need investigating another software to capture Web Cam stuff.

May investigate another Adobe called Visual Communicatorproduct.

Once you get something that is capable of capturing the webcam, it should spit back a file in format FLV or SWF output. You would then drop the FLV into Captivate. (Or present it in a frame on a web page).

Hope this helps a smidge.

Happy Friday! Rick

    Hello

Right click on the shortcut tab icon - properties - look on the target line to see where and what type of program
    is supposed to work.

You will probably need to reload the drivers of the device and any camera control software.

    Login as an administrator.

Double-click Control Panel / Device Manager - Imaging - writing down of the brand and model of camera.
on this subject and on the tab of the driver is version. Now, click on update drivers (who are unable to do anything as MS
is far behind the pilots of certification). RIGHT click on the camera - UNINSTALL - REBOOT - it
    will update the driver stack.

Now, go to the system manufacturer's website and download the latest driver for the camera and the other related camera
software (if not more recent get the same).

Download - SAVE - go to them and RIGHT CLICK - RUN AS ADMIN - reboot after each driver.

Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

  • How to make a simple video with my computer ' s web cam?

I recently (10 minutes ago) asked a simple question on how to make a video.  For five of the most wonderful years of my life, I have designed critical systems of path for launch Pads 39A & B, the vehicle Assembly building and the robot that went out the candle to the pad.  On paper, a critical path system explained how the engineer, design and build a structure.  In this case, it was activities separate from about 3400 and when, how and how long these activities were to each other.  At the time where the Commander.  I worked and which had been granted to these contracts, had developed the method of the path critical following the guidance system of the Polaris Missile, which was incredibly hard to get a handle.  At the time where manned Apollo lunar Mission has been in place, I was one of only ten people in the world, who knew the process.  We needed honest, some answers to our questions or it would take years to accomplish what Stephen Hawking characterized as "the unique accomplishment largest in human history" you gave me answers to my questions by these 'engineers' for Microsoft on the use of a webcam and had implemented them, would not be there was a second launch of Apollo because the first three astronauts would be dead.  How to make a simple video with my computer ' s web cam?     Al wood

    http://www.WikiHow.com/use-webcam-on-Windows-Movie-Maker

    Movie Maker: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-live/movie-maker

Not tested.  Instructions could be for the old version of Movie Maker, but they probably give you the basics.

(It's a way of many - that the answer does not depend on your OS, but on the software you use to interface with your webcam.  Camtasia?  Skype?  etc and so on...)

In addition, to find this information is quite simple.  Once I decided on what software to go with in my response to you (I chose Windows Movie Maker 12 because it's easy to get, free, Microsoft, similar to products that were previously found with Windows) I did a simple search on Google:

use Windows Movie Maker 12 with webcam

    or more demonstratively:

  • Satellite L870-124 web camera initialization failed.

When we arrived first of all our laptop, we have managed to find the web camera. We used it, but now I'd like to try Skype. The web camera is not found. On the start menu, it appears under "all programs" Toshiba"'media and entertainment'"web camera application. When you try to use it, we get a message saying that he was unable to initialize.

I tried to download the drivers from here but always got the same message.

My husband has managed to find the webcam in the BIOS by pressing F2 when the computer has just been turned on. It has been shown as active, so it isn't that.

I looked at how to find the Device Manager and have now found in the control panel under system and security. There is nothing here that looks like a web camera, not even by pressing the view and looking in hidden devices

I tried to read forum entries that seem to be similar problems, but I do not understand some of the answers.

I tried pressing FN and F9, Mine isn't a small sign of the camera. That didn't seem to do anything.

Can someone advise me in plain English, please. ?

    Hi Joanmiller,

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

From your problem description, I understand that you cannot open the web camera, a message saying: could not initialize.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. I would like to see what more I can do to help our end.

Follow these methods and see if that fixes the problem.

Check if the webcam is listed under imaging devices.

Method 1: run the hardware and devices troubleshooter. Refer to this link:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/open-the-hardware-and-devices-Troubleshooter

Method 2: Try to use Windows Live Messenger and check if you can access the webcam.

Method 3: Refer to the suggestions from this link:

  • Failure of Toshiba web camera

So I had this recurring problem with my Web camera integrated, saying that the device is locked by a device. I turned the problem of evil and who came up with a different answer, saying that the device is not compatible. I would try other options before taking my computer geek team, ideas for this problem?

There are many applications that use a web camera. You can have Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, Skype etc as examples. If one or more of these programs are already functioning in the computer, it will have access to the web-camera. So if you try to run another application that uses the camera, you might get this message. And applications like Skype, Google Talk, Windows Live Messenger, etc gets minimized in the system Notification area when you click on the X mark to close. So even if you think that you have closed these requests, in fact they can always clocked in the computer.

There are two things that can be done to check if this is the origin of the problem:

    1. you can kill the process related to the programs that may be using your web camera from the Windows Task Manager and then check the issue. Here is how to kill a process:
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/end-a-process

    2. you can set the computer to boot and check the issue. Clean boot will start the computer keeping the disabled non-Windows programs. The link below describes the boot, I suggest to read entire article before performing the steps, because after troubleshooting, you probably want to the computer is back to normal startup again, which is also described in this article:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

You also mentioned a message where some convenience store says that your device is not compatible with your operating system. I think you should contact Toshiba about this, rather than Geek Squad. You can have some driver or updates of the firmware available for your device, which, I believe, will be better known to the Geek Squad than Toshiba.

    I hope that helps!

  • Satellite A305-S6905 and Web Cam questions

I apologize if there's another thread for this particular model and the question, I'm just extremely frustrated and after hundreds of searches through google, toshiba and chicony, I can't find a solution. My laptop {Toshiba Satellite A305-S6905} was originally Vista when buying. My uncle put upgraded to Windows 7 and in addition to the fact that he constantly tells me that "this copy of Windows is not genuine", my web cam suddenly stopped working. It worked fine on Vista.

I uninstalled camera Assistance and reinstalled more than 8 times. I * think * I reinstalled the driver, but whenever I open (or try to open) helps the camera, I get the message: "Webcam is disabled or has failed." Please check your webcam settings '. I opened the Device Manager, but the Chicony webcam is not listed. Nothing about the webcam is listed. I restarted my laptop... believe me, I almost tried everything. I noticed that a lot of upgraders from Vista to Windows 7 have the same problem. Last resort, I decided to come on the website of the manufacturer of my laptop. I would appreciate help.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

If there is no entry in the Device Manager, it's quite strange. If the device works properly it is listed under imaging devices like Chicony camera.
Somehow, it seems that there is no link between the cam and the motherboard.

All you can do now is to test the functionality with the settings and see if the problem persists.
If the situation will be the same, you should contact the closest service and leave technician to check the cam feature.
