Help! Network of undead!

There is clearly something fundamental, that I do not understand about networks.  Until recently, I was running a wrt54g with a network called (say) 'G '.  It is secured using WPA.

I just bought an E3000, set up a network (let's say "N") and disconnected the WRT54G.

Problem: not only is the G network still present among my networks wireless in Win7 and Ubuntu 12.04, but made the so-called "G-guest."  Not only that, they appear as unsecured wireless networks.  Not only, I can access it. (EDIT: not quite.)  (See bottom of post).

ACK! How to drive a stake into the G network?  Even my bloody phone is connected to the 'G-guest", which comes with the properties:

Status: connected

Security: Open (how in hell can I close this when I don't even have a devices\ network related hardware?)

Link speed: 65Mbps

IP address: 192.168.33.102

Proxy settings: None

EDIT: more:

If I disconnect from the network "N" and try to connect to the network 'G-guest', my browser towards http://192.168.33.1/guestnetwork.cgi , which displays a page with the Cisco logo on a blue background, a password text box and the message enter the guest access password for Internet access. Ask the owner if you do not know the password. The password to access comments are using Cisco Connect.  Of course, the password I had in place when I was running the network 'G' on the WRT54G does not work.  This problem occurs on both my laptop under Ubuntu and on my Android phone.

Ross,

It is quite normal to have a zombie network at the same time. Ok. It is really not the case. Joke.

1. uninstall your old version of cisco connect
2 download the new version of cisco connect from the site Web E3000
3 reset your e3000 to factory default
4. repeat with the configuration of your router

I have also a message that indicates the IP address is assigned manually. I have never manually assign an IP address. I could really use some help here. Don't forget, you talk with the novice.

You have not thought about it, but the "modem" which provided you your provider of Internet Service (ISP) may be the culprit. This is because it is quite common for ISPS to limit the number of devices that can connect to the Internet in a given "modem".  A common limit is 5-6 devices.

Is is possible to communicate with people of support at your ISP to ask them...

    (1) is there a limit of 6 to 8 devices on the modem they received for you?

    (2) if so, ISP support people can change this limitation to allow more devices to connect... Ideally, at no additional cost to you?

Looks like you probably need at least 15-20 connections available... one for each device and 4-5 extra to help prevent conflicts.

If you could provide the number of brand and model of the device that you call your "modem", let's get a setup guide or manual to learn more about the features of the device.

  • Help: network access lost after relocation of the host

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 in VMWare Player. The operating system is Windows which I just reinstalled. Problem is that now the Ubuntu VM has no connection to the internet. In the virtual machine, network adapter settings, the setting was NAT. If I changed it to Bridged, that would not work either. In Bridged mode, if I check 'State of physical to replace network connection', that still does not work. If I click on "Configure adapters" mode bridged, it allows me not select any host network adapter.

I read online that a tool called vmnetcfg.exe could help, but the old ways to get the file (from the Setup file of Vmware) does not work for me.

    Your help is appreciated!

    Welcome to the community,

you see the virtual card 'VMware Network Adapter VMnet8' when you run ipconfig/all on the host? If Yes, are you able to ping IP address of the guest OS?

Did you install VMware Player by right clicking the installation package and run 'as administrator '? It is not uncommon that UAC or request a virus scan/point of endpoint protection prevents the VMware Player installation correctly. What VMware services see the upward in the control panel?

  • Help networking running ESX (i) in the VM Workstation

    Hi everyone-

    Hope someone can help.

I have ESX (i) running in the VM Workstation on my laptop. My problem is that I can't move from my laptop to the domestic VMs. The route correctly on VMs inside and I can communicate back and forth with ESX just cannot access the internal VMs from my laptop. I can ping the default gateway of my laptop workstation VM virtual network editor implements.

    -On promiscuous mode

-Tried several options with nic, vSwitch and VM workstation network Editor.

Any ideas on how to Setup network for this config? Goal is to be able to RDP to internal VMs.

    Thank you

    Jason

This should be pretty easy - please show a screenshot of your network virtual Editor settings.

Here is all I have to do on the ESXi vmnet0 for example ethernet card

the host can have the IP 10.0.0.1, the ESXi then takes 10.0.0.2 and the nested VM gets 10.0.0.3
I don't have to manually set routes at all

It should also work with vmnet0 and DHCP for three - assuming you have a DHCP server that is connected to the bridged the host network adapter

during troubleshooting, turn off the firewall host and the nested VM

  • Need help networking Lab Manager

    Hello

I'm having some problems with the implementation of a closed network and to be able to access the external environment of the fence.

We have a production environment that I cloned for use for testing and development, so we have to our QA and Dev staff to be able to RDP to the virtual machine and to be able to run scripts from their PC in the environment of LM.

The implementation of models and the creation of the configurations are made and the VM can all see each other on their internal network. All IP addresses are exactly the same, as they are in the production network (IP address of 192.168.11.xx).

I created a network physical and fenced (192.168.208.xx IP address) by using the static method - Pool of IP and static manual Options, set the default gateway of 192.168.208.1 and linked to a virtual switch on the host computer that is connected to one of our basic physical switches. The port, we connect uplink to switch, is in it's own VLAN and has the IP address of 192.168.208.1 and allow us the IP to the DEV, QA VLAN but not the vlan production by using access lists.

When I deploy the configuration, network fencing itself and I can see the virtual router using the VI client, however, I cannot ping the addresses or RDP at all on 192.168.208.xx LM Beach assigns to the configuration of the VM. The virtual machine inside the configuration, however, can ping those addresses natted (as well as internal addresses).

I managed to connect to the virtual router and I noticed that the 2 interfaces are both on the 192.168.208.xx network. We shouldn't be on the internal range of configuration (192.168.11.xx) in order to make routing / natting correctly? What do we lack?

When close you a physical network, the vRouter resumes the internal address of the physical network IP pool. When you connect a virtual network to a physical network, the vRouter returns to the internal address of the virtual network IP pool.

It seems to me that your virtual machines were given to the 192.168.11.xx with manual option static, right? In this case, the router will again resume an internal address from the pool of the physical network (think about it, where else would he get all this?). Your needs, create a virtual network with a range of IP addresses in the 192.168.11.xx address space as there are enough IPs for all the virtual machines in your configuration and an additional IP for the internal NIC. of the vRouter use the option "Connection networks to physical virtual networks" while deploying.

I need to connect to these virtual machines, all of which have their own IP addresses. I can ping the server or the host of a remote computer, but must be able to communicate with the virtual machines in the remote/client computerss.

Sorry, I'm not sure I can follow you. In any case, what you're trying to do is to configure adaper network of the virtual machine as "Bridged" within the parameters of the virtual machine and then change network card settings in as guest OS:

IP address: 192.168.1.21 (where 21 must be an unused IP address currently)
    Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
    Def gateway: 192.168.1.1

    Preferred DNS server: 192.168.1.1
