Help: network access lost after relocation of the host

I am running Ubuntu 14.04 in VMWare Player. The operating system is Windows which I just reinstalled. Problem is that now the Ubuntu VM has no connection to the internet. In the virtual machine, network adapter settings, the setting was NAT. If I changed it to Bridged, that would not work either. In Bridged mode, if I check 'State of physical to replace network connection', that still does not work. If I click on "Configure adapters" mode bridged, it allows me not select any host network adapter.

I read online that a tool called vmnetcfg.exe could help, but the old ways to get the file (from the Setup file of Vmware) does not work for me.

Your help is appreciated!

Welcome to the community,

you see the virtual card 'VMware Network Adapter VMnet8' when you run ipconfig/all on the host? If Yes, are you able to ping IP address of the guest OS?

Did you install VMware Player by right clicking the installation package and run 'as administrator '? It is not uncommon that UAC or request a virus scan/point of endpoint protection prevents the VMware Player installation correctly. What VMware services see the upward in the control panel?

    Please help.

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

If I understand your message that you have a problem with the WiFi on your HP laptop.

Here is a list of steps that solve common problems with wireless connectivity.

First of all, we have a step by step guide to guide you through the process of diagnosis here:
Troubleshooting your wireless network and Internet access

A second option is to try the following steps:
    Powercycle the network:
    1. turn off your laptop.
    2. unplug the power to your router.
    3. disconnect the power to your modem.
    4. wait at least 45 seconds.
5 reconnect the modem and wait for it to come back online.
6 plug in the router and wait for it to come back online.
    7. turn on your laptop and test your connection.

Turn off the power to the adapter:
    1. open Device Manager. (Win Key + R > type devmgmt.msc > OK)
    2. expand the network adapters.
    3. right click on the Ethernet adapter / wireless, and then click Properties.
    4. click on the power management tab.
5 remove the check mark next to allow the computer to turn off this device to save power.
    6. click on OK.
    7 test cycle.

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:
    1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without the quotes and press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

It can also help to reset the winsock catalog:
    1. go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.
    2. right-click on the command prompt icon and select run as administrator.
    3. in the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without the quotes, and then press ENTER.
4 restart your PC and test.

    Reinstall the NIC drivers:
    1. download the drivers from here , but do not run them again.
    2. go to your Start menu/screen and type Device Manager.
    3. expand network adapters.
    4. right click on the wireless adapter and choose uninstall.
5 install the drivers downloaded in step 1.
    6. restart your PC and test.

    Test an ethernet connection:
Explicit. Test if the problem persists on a wired connection to the adapter hardware troubleshooting wireless can be directed to the appropriate areas.

    Test another connection:
Many people excluded their home network as a problem if another device working on the same network. Networking is not as simple as that. Each device interacts differently with your router or modem and it is impossible to exclude the settings for this device until the laptop has been tested on another network.

If these steps do not resolve the problem, try this document published by Microsoft for network management issues: wired and wireless network problems. You can change the operating system with the drop-down list in the upper right of the document.

  • ACL lost after reboot of the switch

I have a Dell PowerConnect 5448. I created an acl using the CLI. I have telnet'ed in the switch and created and ACLs on port 19. This works well. He does his job and even after that I reload the switch (or the loss of power of the switch), the acl on the 19 port is never lost.

I now copy the same acl using the graphical interface, using a web browser - Dell OpenManage Switch Administrator for different ports. For example, I click on Switch - network - links ACL security. I can see the acl on port 19 I created using the cli interface. I use the web gui to copy this acl in a lot of different ports. "bind acl at interface" other ports on the switch. I save the changes. But, after I restart the switch (or lose power to the switch), these "copied" ACLs are lost. I still have the original acl I have created using the CLI, but lost the ones I copied to other ports by using the GUI.

Is this a normal behavior to lose these 'copied acl"using the web gui?

I never lose the acl that I created using the CLI, but after a loss to reboot or power, I always lose the acl that I copied using the web gui. Why? Am I missing a step?

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions!

By clicking on apply changes is just going to implement changes to the running configuration. To save the changes so that they remain after a reboot, the running configuration must be copied to the startup configuration.

    See you soon.

    Hello

  • vSphere cannot connect after time on the host change

I am a relative noob when it comes to virtualization.  I did a lot of research for the response, but can't find it.  Maybe you guys can help.

Connected to the host (VMWare vSphere for ESXi 4.0) management console, I changed the time on the host because he was distant.  After that, the vSphere console has become very slow, and when I clicked on another tab it has expired.

I closed vSphere and tried to reconnect and now I have a message that says:

vSphere could not connect with the server vCenter Server "[host IP address] '.

Details: A connection failure has occurred (unable to connect to the remote server)

I went directly to the physical console machine and press F2 to enter the system setup.  I restarted the management agent.  I can ping the IP address.  I can not connect via puTTy, but I do not think that I never activated the SSH access.

Has anyone ever encountered this?  What should I do?  I can't restart the host right now because the production servers are running on the VMWare.  If I have to restart later, what is the correct procedure for this? (close the BONES of the VM, and then restart the host?)

I had this happen before. I was unable to restart the services or navigate from the console. I waited until hours off-peak and connected directly in the less critical guest OS and stop them. I had to stop several before I could get access again vcenter. Once I had access i vMotioned the rest of the guests to other hosts and restarted the ESXi host. It's a risk, because if you cannot close machines you have to powercycle. You seem to have access, so you can be able to stop them from the CLI on the host.

  • What should I do on vCenter vSphere Web Client after you change the host root password?

    Hello

When we implemented vCenter our Organization, we used a regular password to the account 'root' on each ESXi host.

So, I installed vCenter and added the hosts on it to manage.

When I added them, they've asked for the root password power connect.

    Ok. Everything was fine.

Now, we want to change the password to root for each ESXi host.

My question is: what should I do to make sure that vCenter will always be able to connect to the ESXi hosts, because the account used to connect the first time change his password?

My question is: what should I do to make sure that vCenter will always be able to connect to the ESXi hosts, because the account used to connect the first time change his password?

Nothing, after the host is added to vCenter, a user named vpxuser is created automatically on the ESXi host and vCenter uses this user to connect and manage the host.

  • After change of the host, I can't find my old mails, but they still appear in the search...

    Hi all

I just changed my host and the server settings etc in my account settings for my e mail account. All my old messages disappeared. I guess it's 'normal' when you change the host, but I can still find the emails when I search a specific e-mail address. I can still see the texts of the mails in the search, but when I want to open them I can't. So that means in fact that not deleted emails? Y at - it a possiblity to recover?

    Thanks in advance, Michal.

If you want to keep messages never change the details or the settings of an older account. Always set up a new account.

Use of IMAP account, then the messages are stored on the server, so when the service is no longer available to you, the messages on the server will become also unavailable.

Thunderbird manages a summary of messages. This is probably what will appear in the search. This does not mean that the messages themselves are stored anywhere useful.

  • Old Airport Express lost after reset of the router, the connection cannot be seen/accessed

    the train:

-Mid 2009 Macbook Pro, OS Yosemite airport 6.3.5 10.10.5, utility

-Existing wifi network via a former Ubiquiti AC wifi or router which gets internet radio antenna on the roof of the local ISP.

-old (1st gen.) A1084 Airport Express used only as a customer to listen to the music of the said Macbook.

I am a musician who has been using my old AEX to listen to the music and the recording via Airplay and Airfoil for my Roland onstage for years without problem. I don't remember how I initially put in place, but I think it's as a customer only... IE, it broadcast as its own wireless network, or extend my network wifi etc, I just use it for listening to music.

Well, a week earlier, a disgruntled rogue ex-my local ISP hacked their radio tower and all the customer routers turned into useless bricks (and also all our wifi network names changed to a name that begins with "mother" and ends by "-ers", but that's another story).

Local ISP technicians have managed to get my router all re - set up and working, but I had to reconfigure my wireless devices (example: wifi printer) from scratch to be able to connect again.

The tenacious hold on is this old Airport Express.

I try to use the instructions found online to get connected again, but nothing does.

Yes, I tried pressing the Reset button for 10 seconds, etc... He just goes at once orange flashing or sometimes solid orange light, and don't see the Airport utility. I tried to plug its ethernet port to the router's LAN port to see if the Airport utility, would see no change, Airport utility requires no base stations found. It has no Airport icon in my menu bar and no Airplay icon in any relevant application such as iTunes.

Remember that in past I was able to reset/reconnect after network changes, it seems to me (I don't remember how). BTW, its location is located a few feet from the router, in order to hang it up through ethernet is easy if need be.

Once again, I only want to not to listen to the music and the tracking records of my Macbook. Roland aren't in a convenient place for an electrician. As you can tell the age of my stuff, I'm a starving musician, don't want to have to buy something new.

  • Satellite Pro U400 - network connection lost after suspend

I have a Toshiba Dynadock. My network is connect directly in dynadock.

When suspend my Satellite Pro U400 and after reboot to continue working I lost my network connection. Then I shut down my computer and disconnect/connect Dynadock I can continue working.

    What is the problem?
    Dynadock software version is 2.0

    Hello

I see that you have switched from Vista to XP.

First of all I recommend you update the BIOS.
As I m not wrong on the European driver Toshiba page, you should find a newer version of the BIOS.

You will need to upgrade Win XP to the last State.
The XP must be up-to-date and all service packs, hotfixes and patches MS must be installed in your laptop.

Access the Device Manager, and then score in each USB hub root, you must disable the option called allow the computer to turn off this device to save power
You can find this option in the properties-> tab power management

Alternatively, you can scan your computer for the Microsoft Security Scanner, which would help us to get rid of viruses, spyware and other malicious software.

The Microsoft Security Scanner is a downloadable security tool for free which allows analysis at the application and helps remove viruses, spyware and other malware. It works with your current antivirus software.

Note: The Microsoft Safety Scanner ends 10 days after being downloaded. To restart a scan with the latest definitions of anti-malware, download and run the Microsoft Safety Scanner again.

  • Cannot access application after renewal of the Plan

My annual membership for renewed CC today. Now, I can't in my applications. WHEN I open applications such as PS, and MUSE it gives me the window as seen in the first post here: creative cloud sign me or asking to connect you several times

He has my correct email in it for ID, and if I click to connect, it takes my login password, it tells me "CC will now be licensed dethrone click to continue and enjoy the software.» So I click on, then it attempts to open the app because it bounces a couple times in my dock and the low and behold! I get the same "Sign required In" original window. Again and again, this happens and none of my applications. open such as described. For some reason, I can open the bridge?

So, I did all the suggestions listed that I could find here on the forum and on Google:

I tried to uninstall the desktop CC app, but it would allow me to because he says that I still have applications on computer that required it. I won't uninstall 20 + apps just to try this fix.

I used the tool for cleaning Application Adobe and applied to my CC desktop application and the Adobe application manager, several times, restarted my computer several times and it does not work.

I reinstalled the application of CC desktop and restarted my computer several times and it does not work.

I removed my oobe folder, as seen in this post:

    https://helpx.Adobe.com/creative-cloud/KB/signed-out-sign-in-required-error-248.html

    and that did nothing.

I contacted Adobe about their cat and that nobody could not help and said they would have support contact me within 24 hours.

My design time was today, not 24 hours from now.

I use CC to desktop. 3.6.0.248 on a Mac under OS Lion 10.8.5 so I always use the apps from 2014. that absolutely worked awesomely and flawless until my renewed annual plan today! I pay a monthly automated, but my 'birthday' was today and so I got regular email "your membership is about to Expire" and then later I received an email confirmation of my payment. Even, I logged into my account to make sure that my credit card information was up to date and it is. My desktop CC reloaded app me recognized as the user too and had my correct account information and email addy in there when even I don't not re-connect in there when I recharged it. Adobe recognizes and accepts me and my account and my user.

This isn't simply connecting my apps on my account or something like that.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

    THX!

    Claudia

I called them again and this time the tech who responded to offered to help me. Less than 30 minutes on the phone with him and my problem is fixed and I can access all my apps!

He said it was some corrupted files and he needed to access my computer, delete them, and it's all good now. Phew!

I generally do not allow anyone access to my computer remotely, but as it was Adobe, I have confidence in them, so I let him do.

  • Develop settings lost after re - import the DNG files folder

I use LR for several months and - after having used to his peculiararities - love the program.

Tonight, I have re-imported one file to DNG files that I had previously withdrawn from the LR - using the import option 'Add '. When the develop module, I noticed that my original develop settings have been applied is no longer.

These settings are not incorporated into the DNG files? How could they get lost? They wrote, too, when re - import files?

I always back up my catalog before closing. The backup of the catalog contain the original developing parameters for these DNG files?

I know I must have done something wrong! Please inform and explain. Thank you.

The development parameters are only in the catalog, unless you have autowrite to xmp enabled in the settings of catalog or if you have selected the image files and saved the data to develop with Cmd/Ctrl-S to the selected files.

When you delete the files from the catalog data to develop will too after a short period (allows cancellations) so if you have a catalog of backup with files until they have been removed you could open that save develop settings and then open your catalog of work and read the metadata,.

I keep all my files in Lightroom, as it is my rather than the operating system file manager. Then I know (I hope) where everything is and what happens to my images.

Your type of error has been made by many, including myself and is part of the learning curve for digital imaging!
