Help, please! Going crazy trying to connect to the internet!

I'll start at the beginning

Computer is a HP Pavilion s7220n Slimline PC

1 / computer wouldn't boot & recovery would freeze

2 / I tried a disc repair & which froze

3 / cut my losses & reformatted

4 / installed a copy of xp pro

Bike XP boots & everything works fine outside the internet connection of the single network adapter, it recognizes is the1394 net adapter

5 / downloaded all the updates that are available for 7220 & I tried to install it

6 / some updates won't install because of course I deleted the original copy.

All I really care reconnects to do that I need to recognize and install the adapter in the computer network

How can I do this?

What do need me download/install to get the hardware & driver to work

Any & all help and advice would be greatly appreciated

Thank you Cheryl!

Is it only started recently? You have McAfee? McAfee has been updated at the same time as the last batch of updates from Windows 7 and this is the cause of problems of internet connection for most, if not all, users of McAfee.

  • "The account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process" while trying to connect to the internet.

while trying to connect to internet, I get the message "connection status: unknown the account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running in the same process" that you start happens out of the blue. When I run the diagnostic and repair tool it says that Windows cannot resolve the problem, contact admin or your ISP. I know that my internet service works very well. I am currently on an e-machine running Windows Vista Edition Home Premium and it connects without problems. My problem is that my most recent top of office (gateway also on Windows Vista Home Premium) receives connection problems. IM connected to the internet (DSL) with the ethernet cable from the Yukon. All the lights are green on the wireless gateway, so I know that the service is very good. Strange thing I noticed, when I go to network status and share and view Gateway desktop computer shows the "Yukon Ethernet controller" as the connection while the e-machine device says Im using "Intel (R) PRO/100VE Network Connection" Im using the same cable (Yukon) and put in place for both computers, so I was wondering what that was all too. Any help is appreciated.

  • I'm trying to connect to the internet and I am unable to do so. My screen says Internet Explore cannot display this Web page. I missed something in the settings? He sees my wireless and says acquiring network address... but not to go further.

I tried to diagnose, disconnect and reconnect

You have left out information such as how you connect to the Internet (cable/DSL? ISP?), the brand of your router, and whether other computers can connect to your router wirelessly with success. Also, we don't know whether there is an initial Setup or if you had this before work and now it just doesn't.

I'm going to assume that this is the first installation then give you instructions on setting up a safe wireless router. Maybe that will make things work for you. If you need more information, be sure to include all missing information in your next post.

Setting up a router is simple enough. Normally, you run the CD that came with the router and follow the instructions. But you can set up the router without the CD. Note that if you have Internet cable for the connection you have just set up the router to DHCP (or there may even be a choice of cable to choose). If you have DSL Internet, you select TRP usually and enter the username and password you selected when you initially set the DSL connection. So:

    1. turn off the power to your modem.
    2. attach a class (usually supplied with the router) ethernet cable cat5e Internet/WAN port of the router to the ethernet port on the modem.
    3. connect the ethernet cable cat5e from the network card in your computer to one of the ports on the router. If you do not have an ethernet cable (because you were using USB), you will need to go to the store and buy a.
    4. turn on the modem. After that all the lights are on, turn on the router.

    To configure the router:

Have a computer connected to the router with an ethernet cable. Examples given are for a Linksys router. See the manual of your router or the router mftr's Web site. for the parameters by default if you don't have a Linksys. Open a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and in the address bar type:

http://192.168.1.1 [Enter] (it is default IP address of the router, which varies from router to router then check your manual)

This will bring you to the login screen of the router. The default username is blank and the Linksys default password is "admin" without the quotes. Enter this information. You are now in the configuration of the router utility. Your configuration utility may be slightly different from mine. The first thing to do is to change the default password because * all * known default passwords for different routers.

Click the Administration link at the top of the page. Enter your new password. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE. Re-enter the password to confirm it, and then click Save settings at the bottom of the page. The router will reboot and show you the box of connection again. Do not fill in the user name and put it in your new password to enter the configuration utility.

Now, click on the link wireless at the top of the page. Change the network name (SSID) wireless by default to something, you'll recognize. I suggest that my clients not use their surname as the SSID. For example, you might want to name your network wireless network "CastleAnthrax" or similar. ;-)

Click on save settings and when you get the prompt that your changes were successful, click the wireless security link which is just beside the Basic Wireless Settings link (where you changed your SSID). Most computers purchased during the last 4 years have the wireless hardware that will support WPA2-Personal (also known as WPA2-PSK). This is the desired encryption level. If your wireless hardware is older, use WPA. Don't use WEP, because who is easily broken within minutes. So go ahead and set the Security Mode WPA2-Personal. Do this and enter a password. For example, you could use the password ' here be dragons, beware you scurvy dogs! The password is what you enter on all computers that are allowed to connect to the wireless network. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE.

At this point, your router is set up and if the computer that you use to configure the router will normally connect wireless, disconnect the ethernet cable and wireless of the computer should see your new network. Enter the password that you have created (exactly as you wrote it with all capital letters and punctuation) to join the network and start surfing. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • Error D 803 0010, trying to connect to the internet to authenticate the Live service

    Original title: Family Safety - 803D 0010

I have searched for help and see a number of other people have had a problem similar but not sure that there is still an answer that works.

I'm on a PC running Windows7 and I install critical Windows and Family Safety.

It works very well but has stopped working.

The error I get is 803D 0010 and family security load, but the program seems unable to connect to the Live service and authenticate.

The specific message, it's that it cannot access the Internet.  I'm not sure this is the case and maybe a false error message.

I am skillfully to access internet from the browser successfully and connect on the family safety website.

The problem is that the application of family safety appears unable to do.

    Any help?

    Hi Andy,.

Thanks for posting on Microsoft Communities.

The proxy for the network service settings may not be set correctly or may become obsolete. With some settings wrong together, you may still be able to connect to your Windows Live using Windows Live Messenger account and your browser, but when you try to connect to Windows Live family safety, you receive this error message.

I suggest you follow the advice given by Rajesh Govind said on February 6, 2014 in the following link and check out:

    Original title: Local only solution!

Ive had this problem of 'local only' with vista for months and evryone think they know how to fix it. Ive tried everything and finally found the fix perament! IM, buying a mac. Microsoft even has not addressed this and as far as I know laugh on this subject. IM starting to think that the Charter and microsoft have an agreement, while their routers will work correctly. I'm done!

I found the only problem "Local". I have a Belkin router. Enter the network and sharing Center. And then click State view. Go to the wireless properties, and then click Security. If it says personal wpa_2, change it to wpa personal. Then, you will need to enter your password. That seems to have fixed for me
