I have the laptop (Toshiba satellite) friend who's stuck in the installation of the service Pack 1. I have service pack 2 and am wondering, since I can't fix with this cd, can I install service Pack 2 on it without loss of data or files?
PC claims service pack1 cd with file asms
When you use service pack 2 cd can not load product catalogues, it is fatal error, the Setup logs files should contain more information.
Why not integrate Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3 on her XP CD by following the instructions here (using another PC):
http://en.community.Dell.com/support-forums/software-OS/w/microsoft_os/1443.aspxCopy all data on an external hard drive, do a clean install using the XP CD updated (preferably on the BIOs)Then, install the drivers from the system, then Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows 7 Firewall Control (XP free Version) and Malwarebytes' AntiMalware (free or Pro) or whatever you prefer security. Then copy the files over. This will probably lead to the best performance. -

I need help installing service Pack 1 (sp1).
I tried several times to install service pack 1 (Sp1) with engineers at microsoft, but nothing is. They give up the ball after several unsuccessful attempts to install sp1. I need someone who could help me to install the service pack. I need help!
My second question is to unblock my e-mail account. I have all the major issues in this account. Live mail engineers just keep going in a circle without end. I've provided all the information that they need to unlock the account, but they don't have yet does. I need help here too. !

Cannot install service pack 1 on Vista
Hello
can anyone help?
I changed the hard drive on my PC and re installed vista. Several updates later and am stuck now with service pack 1 do not install it even if he says he has. Because of the incompatibility of IE 7 with the Microsoft Web site, I am unable to download in stand-alone form or download the tool etc. such as documented on the solutions, I googled.
There is no antivirus outside Defender running nd tried to install firewall on and outside. No idea what it takes now short of forking out for windows 7 or 8.
Any help greatly received.
Hello
If you encounter problems, you can download the stand-alone version on another computer and save to disk.
Click Start > right click on computer > left click on properties > see if you have Vista 32 bit or Vista 64-bit installed.
It will also tell you which SP you have installed.
Then, choose the download of 'bit' OK to use to install Service Packs, installation of SP1 first if it is not already installed.

Windows install Service Pack 3
A long time ago when I received the automatic update to Service Pack 3 and tried to install it, the update failed (Error 1706: file PRORET.) MSI not found). I do not have the disk that he wanted me to insert to find the file and my attempts to find help on the web has as well. Since then, when I open Excel, Windows Installer gets up and tries to install Service Pack 3. If I wait until it I fail can then try again and succeed to open my spreadsheets but I have to wait for the Setup program to do its thing. Is there anyway to prevent that from happening in the first place? Dare just uninstall Windows Installer?
Right click on desktop & select Properties: Windows version which is displayed on the general tab that results (for example, Windows Professional Service Pack 2)?
See this discussion archived on PRORET. MSI and Office XP SP3, positions especially by Mr Laurent Genty: http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.officeupdate/browse_frm/thread/599b499f5f4dba34
You can download the "fullfile" of the Setup program for Office XP SP3 (i.e. OfficeXpSp3-kb832671-fullfile - enu.exe) for a manual installation here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=85af7bfd-6f69-4289-8bd1-eb966bcdfb5e

Cannot install service pack 1 for Vista
For almost 2 years, I try to install service pack 1. When installing to part 3 of 3 back changes and is not installed. I called the Vista support almost 10 times, they also helped me online. I've tried everything.
What can I do?How to fix the Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 service pack installation issues:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/947366What application or antivirus security suite is installed and your current subscription? What anti-spyware (other than Defender) applications? What third-party firewall (if applicable)? Who were these applications that run in the background when you tried to install SP1?
A (another) Norton or McAfee application has already been installed on this machine (for example, a free trial version which is preinstalled when you bought it)?

Error installing Service Pack 3 on XP because of the "disk space" despite 40 GB free
Well, I was working on the installation of some programs for my school (ProE Wildfire 4.0) and to run it, we required some software VSP. When you try to run the software, it gave me errors on missing components and when he tried to download, it gave an error. So I decided to do a Windows Update for I hope to solve this problem and tried to install Service Pack 3 (this a bootcamp partition on a Mac, unfortunately, everything works great on my desk), who was absent, probably because I installed XP only a few months ago. However, whenever I tried to install the service pack, it gives me an error, saying: it took 4 MB more disk and cancel the installation. I got 40 GB free, so I just did a virus scan of the entire system with Symantec and Spybot S & D. Then I made the error of disk checking, defragmentation, disk cleanup, cleanup with CCleaner and cleanup with CleanUp!. And he always gave me the same error. During this time, I realized that Microsoft Security Center was not picking up on my Symantec Antivirus. I had a virus earlier and thought that Spyware S & D and Symantec may have missed something, so I did some research and took measures to protect themselves against a little guy called backdoor.haxdoor.cn. Apparently, I was not according to HSfix and HijackThis. So I thought that Service Pack 2 might have poorly installed and messed up the Security Center and my chances of installation of Service Pack 3. But when I went into Add/Remove Programs (w / visible updates), I couldn't find the upgrade to Service Pack 2 anywhere, that brought me to believe he was present on the XP cd, I have installed since. So I tried to take a break for Service, removing the repository, and then by him restarting. That no longer works. So I gave up on the antivirus error causing the service pack 3 error idea and tried to do some research on service pack 3 generally, but I couldn't find anything really relevant. And now I don't know what to do anymore. Any help would be appreciated.
silentearth3,
Well, it sounds as if there are a lot of things with your computer. The first thing I would say is to clean your system startup and then try runnings Windows updates. Make sure you have any antivirus or firewall programs that may interfere with Windows Update.
Here are the instructions for the clean boot: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/310353If you still have a question I would then download SP3 to your desktop and try to install from there. Here are the instructions on how to manually install SP3: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322389/
