Help the library iTunes scrambled, please!

Hello world

A while back, when the passage of the libraries after remove and replace the external hard drive, my iTunes library stored on, I had to change the library in the on the external drive. After Okaying of the library has changed, instead of meaning no, I inadvertently called to make a copy of the entire library, leading to a copy of the folder of iTune all on the level of the root of the hard drive. Through "Show in Finder", I noticed some songs in the music library, nested in the iTunes folder where they belong, and some are in folders that are are duplicated on the hard drive. There are tunes newly uploaded in these two places and, curiously, a few old tunes in both. That's why I say tunes scrambled. I would like to somehow rectify this situation. I would just trash these records and their melodies that are copied, but then my library, my music would be dotted with missing sources and I must search for, find and relink if possible the pieces manually, which would be a daunting task. I'm hoping there's an elegant way to straighten out this mess. I know my way around the Mac well enough, but I never really had the same handle level on iTunes and now I'm paying for it. Can someone give me advice or a protocol to reorganize my library and/or resolution of this problem? Thank you very much in advance at any time and in review. Any suggestions are appreciated by all!

I'm running iTune 12.3.3.17 on a '17 MacBook Pro 8 GB of RAM end ' 011 model with OS X 10.11.3.' My iTunes music library is stored on an external HD to 2 TB with 5 GB left to spare.

All the best,

David

Buy a new 3T or the largest disk.

Copy the files to the current library and file work in / / < Volume > / iTunes.

Option Start iTunes to connect to the library on the new path.

Change the media folder to / / < Volume >/iTunes/iTunes Media.

Consolidate the library in the new media folder.

When it is all tested and working clean the original disc and clone the iTunes folder at him as a backup with a tool such as Synkron.

For more information, see make a library of portable split .

  • iTunes error: the library iTune .itl file is locked. On a locked disk or you do not write to this file permission

    Original title: iTunes

I have just updated from XP to 7. I downloaded Windows Easy Transfer, but it wouldn't work if I copied all my files on my external drive myself.

Once Windows 7 had loaded, I started to transfer them to my computer.

I tried just down load iTunes 10.1.1 from the internet, and everything seemed to go ok.

But iTunes is not working and I get the following message "the library iTune .itl file is locked. "On a locked disk or youdo not write permissionfor this file."

I saw this message on iTunes support and it is said that the 'My music' folder is located in the default location in Windows XP.

Does that mean I lost my music and what should I do to be able to access/download the iTunes player.

I have songs on different drives so I have quite lost music. I am simply unable to play my iTunes library because I can't access the drive.

    Thank you.

P.s. I'm not very good with computers.

    Hello

Change the permissions on the folder / my music/itunes (and all subfolders and files) so that it is not "read-only".
    Here's how:
    a. by doing a right click on the name of the iTunes folder, and then select Properties.
    b. you will see the read-only check box. Make sure it is disabled.

  • iPod Classic 80 GB is recognized in the library itunes, but will not be synchronized on my new windows laptop 10?

My iPod Classic 80 GB from 2009 is recognized on my iTunes library when I plug it in, but it does not sync?  I have a new windows laptop 10.  What can I do?

If you want to synchronize your iTunes music library (from computer, iPod) automatically when you connect the iPod, you need to implement that.  By default, it is set up for manual loading.  I can explain this process.  However, if your iPod currently has all your songs and iTunes library to your new computer laptop does not work, you should not set up automatic synchronization because you will lose all the songs on the iPod.  Your current situation is not clear.  Please specify what you ask the subject.

  • TV series bought while the United Kingdom is no longer in the library itunes, now I am in Australia

As indicated, the TV series that I purchased and part watched when I was living in the United Kingdom is no longer appearing in my iTunes library when I tried to re-purchase he said I already own the series, but I can't show him anywhere.  Currently, I live in Australia.  Any notice received with gratitude.  Thank you

He may have said already, you admit it but is it actually available for purchase on Aussiland.   Once you change your Apple ID to reflect the residence in a new country, I think that you lose all downloads is not available in this country.   It's all about licenses, copyrights and agent agreements.

Still, it is useful to check the iTunes support.

  • How to manage the library iTunes (Mac) 30 GB on 8 GB Clip +?

Hi there I just got my first player non-iPod, 8 GB Clip +.

I have my music on a Mac with iTunes I used to sync with an iPod using playlists according to genre or mood (using the fields of comments for example chill/run/etc.).  This way I could scroll my library as with each iPod synchronization of tracks information has been updated and replaced with new songs.  Very handy and, apart from the implementation of the selections, fully automatic.

Now with the Clip + I know I can only drag & drop from my Mac.  I know someone here wrote a script for iTunes playlists, but I don't think these can be automatically updated with each synchronization that the Clip does not communicate with iTunes.

I looked through some of the threads here and it seems that most of you listen to just their music according to artist or album.  So I wonder how power users here are listening to their music videos to get the most out of their largest libraries and ensure that they listen to their library tracks in the long term.

    Thank you.

First thing, I suggest you becomes an expansion card... look a bit online, and you can usually find a card 8 GB under $20 and a 16 GB for about $40. For $200, you can get a 32 GB card, but for most of us, 32 GB cards can wait a while.

If you add a 16GB, which gives you a total usable 22.73 GB, which is what I have. From there on, my answer to try to keep a bit in contact with the entire collection is the random play mode. Activate random playback, select Play All, and there you go. If I have a penchant for an artist in particular that day, I can slect Play All for just this artist with shuffle turned on... then if I've got a new album, I'll listen to it in the appropriate method until I know that album... then he will enter in the random rotation.

My library total will not be on the Clip + as it is, and even if I had a 32 GB card, it wouldn't hold everything... but I found that with my 22,73 GB I can wear anything I might want to listen to on a day given... and shuffle mode will bring up the songs that I would not have thought to play artists can I thought for awhile.

Enjoy your Clip +... it can be a quite as transparent experience for a user of Mac, but there have been discussions here in the forums about how the Sansa and Macs work together.

  • Installed the library at Ext Drive, iTunes wants to re-download all previous purchases

I moved the library iTunes & iPhoto on an external drive, as described in the guide online from Apple. Everything seems to work properly. Then I upgraded my OS to El Capitan, and I try to sync our iPhones and iPad for the first time.

In iTunes, is to show all our purchases, but all the playlists have disappeared. When I try to sync, it tells me I will be to delete everything on my iPhone, and it shows no content available with which it can synchronize (except the Apps). Available music, television, and music available to synchronize with the iPhone sucks. Each item purchased has now an emblem of download on it. I tried to launch a film I bought and downloaded months ago, he began to re - download.

The iPhone I'm trying sync is a 6s a day and iTunes iOS & other applications are up to date. ITunes content is very visibly on the drive external hard, all the 220 + GB of it. It will take days to weeks to download all new and I don't want to eat another 200 + GB of HD space, then must manually remove hundreds of duplicates just to access the items, I know that I already have but iTunes does not recognize is already there.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Have you tried to run iTunes by holding down the Option key? Select "choose library" then go to the external HD and the iTunes folder there. You should get the option to open it.

  • Any entry in the library search crashes iTunes

I have iTunes, version 12.1.2.27, installed on a laptop Acer, model VA70, under Windos 7 Home Premium, SP1.

A recent problem.  If iTunes is open, to 'Songs', and I have anything, even a single letter, type in the area looking for the library, iTunes hangs, showing a message error "iTunes has stopped working".  Solutions online to check is useless.   I have the same iTunes on another laptop and research it work as expected.  The hard drive is full of quarter.

I would be happy to provide you with information about the processor speed, memory and storage capacity, but I don't know where to find these.

You have the option of any research library checked if you click on the magnifying glass in the search box? This leaving provides the old style of behavior, filtering on returns the results in a collection box that requires more resources to produce.

You are several generations behind the current version. It can be paid make a tear down and rebuild iTunes.

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

The more information box has direct links with the current and recent if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with third-party software.

Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.

  • New Mac, same disk external DRIVE for the library; does not see the files

I reconnected my iTunes library from a disk external DRIVE to my new computer, but iTunes does not recognize my files of the ALAC instead, he goes to the cloud and plays music from Apple things. How can I listen to my files? All the files are there, the library is intact; I changed the path in iTunes. Without result. He always plays with the cloud.

You do not change the path in iTunes.  Who does as it says which is tell iTunes where media files [new] store. You change the path you launch iTunes by holding down the option/alt key, while the application starts and then choose when prompted the iTunes Library.itl file in the iTunes folder you included if all goes well on the hard disk external.  If everything you have on the outside are media files, then you better head for your old computer fast and get the rest of the library there.  It's the rest of these files in the iTunes folder that make up the other half of the 'library' iTunes needs.

  • Understand and manage the library.

    Hello!

I just noticed the "this computer / library with the name ' button in the upper left corner of iTunes.

I went in "to name library', and what I've seen there is a part of my music (not all my music) is not well organized (some older Genres are in there that I used to have) and some old playlists that I used to have.

    1_ how this music go?

    2_ KESAKO? (The library).

3_ how I can manage it? (Organize/delete files, etc.)

    1 million thanks!

    Chris.

If you see this control at the left end of the horizontal bar, which means that there is another computer on your local network that has iTunes home sharing is enabled.  This computer is the choice for the use of the iTunes library on your computer.  Library name is the choice to use the library iTunes shared on the other computer.

NOTE: If two users are currently connected to the same computer in different user accounts, shared iTunes library could also be in the other user account.

So, if you select the library name, you see songs in the iTunes library.  One who uses this computer put the songs in the iTunes library and it manages.

Check, if pictures can access the original files of your pictures, or if the originals are missing.

You can test to try to edit a photo or trying to export it with "file > export > export original file..."

Photos can be edited or exported?

I lost some of the folders in the library.  They exist in the Explorer solutions, but somehow got removed from the library.  I can bring them back in but I'm afraid it will happen again in LR.  Please help me understand what happened and how can I prevent the recurrence. I use Win7.

    A few possibilities:

1 > you click with the right button on the files and chose to remove them from Lightroom.

2 > you have created a new catalog, and records that are not part of another catalog.

Each of these scenarios seem like they could be a possibility?

  • My music is gone and the library.itl method did not work. Help, please!

I realized that all the songs in my library disappeared, with the exception of those that I bought. I have read a few older threads on people who have this same problem after an update and tried the steps (detected the itunes library.itl file, renaming etc.), but it did not work.

My music is all saved on my computer and an extra hard drive, but I have more than 20,000 songs and I need my playlists to my business events and the demo of sampling and that makes me desperate. Is there anyway that I can restore my itunes when everything was perfect without slipping literally 20,000 songs in itunes? not to mention those of CDs. thank you if it is not resolved I can cry really.

You say that you have a backup of your music, but you also have a backup of your library files?  Your playlists are only in your file "itunes library".

I kind of suspect that you may have not followed exactly the instructions. When you install an update the iTunes application puts a copy of your old library file in the previous record of libraries with a date added at the end.  It is essentially the only thing that has your playlists and a list of media in your media folder.  iTunes creates a library update, then he calls "iTunes Library.itl" If this update procedure is not successful (and in most cases, it is) you can restore it by going to the previous iTunes libraries folder and make a copy of the latest library here (by date, you can see), rename the file by removing everything except "iTunes Library.itl" and what to put in the main folder of iTunes.  Restart iTunes.  If that really, really does not then your recourse to use the library files backup copies you hopefully takes place before that you did any kind of update software on your computer.  It's triply critical if you use equipment on a professional basis because your business depends on.

If necessary, you can work your way through the previous libraries although they will not be updated. Me realize also that what you see in iTunes is only a list of what is in the file of the library and if you return to a library very old media are still in the media folder, but are unknown to iTunes because they do not appear in the old file to the library.
