HELP V460 overheating CPU

My lenovo V460 bought less than a year ago, and the hard drive crashes suddenly...

Since I'm a stranger at the present time, I can't send back to lenovo until end of December...

I change another HDD in it, which is a Seagate Momentus 500 GB SATA 2.5 inch internal Hard Drive OEM, 5400 RPM 8 MB Cache. I installed windows 7 and new.

But the CPU temperature is now quite high, about 60 ~ 65 when nothing is running and sometimes up to 80 when you use the computer more than 3 hours...

Thank you

  • Portege 3500 - change HARD drive and deal with overheating CPU

I recently bought a Portege 3500 without any support of discs etc. It doesn't have a CD or a floppy disk. It has 2 problems, I want to trouble.
    (a) HARD drive is obviously out because it is by clicking on me, and it presents a permanent red section during defragmentation.
    (b) the fans are at full power all the time, and the CPU is running slowly.

    (a) I had a new HARD drive that I reformatted on other laptops. I put a base Windows XP on this HARD drive and uploaded on my external that I attach to the Portege. I used "transfer... Assistant "to transfer files, folders, and settings to the new HARD drive but I don't know how to install the old Windows XP OS Tablet it." I have the product key of Microsoft for the operating system. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    (b) I believe that the transfer of heat from the CPU on the radiator is a failure, causing the processor to hot and therefore slows down. I already solved the same problem with a Dell by coating the top of the CPU with Artic Silver 5 paste. I cannot, however to get the CPU in the same Portege so I removed all the screws down. Does anyone know how to split the case without causing damage?

    Hello

    (a) Unfortunately, but I don t really know how you want to install the operating system without using the recovery CD or the windows CD.
I searched a bit in this forum and found these messages on the installation of the OS on the Portege 3500:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=5926
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=15336&MessageID=55939

    See also this FAQ:
    http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB6101CA000ER02.htm

    (b) on the Portégé, you should find the power saver utility. This utility allows you to change the different modes of cooling and processing speed.
In my opinion, you should also check if the fans are clean. Especially the dust and debris inside of the laptop is responsible for cooling not properly of the CPU and other parts.

But if you want to know how to remove the covers so I would recommend checking this site. Maybe you'll find something useful.

  • HP ENVY 700-406: overheating CPU

I have a HP Envy 700-406 with an A10 - 7700 k and a GTX 750ti graphics card.  When I am gaming, making a video, or any other task intensive CPU, HWmonitor reports time in the range of 95 c.  I know that it is extremely dangerous to operate a processor at this temperature, but the BIOS doesn't even crawls any fans when the cpu is this hot.  No idea why?

    @Wheatfield, welcome to the forum.

The first thing I would do is update the BIOS.  Here is the page HP Software and download driver for the motherboard.  There are three available updates.  You must use the update SSID: B 2 17 motherboard.  Here is what solves the update:

    Fix and improvements:

    -Improved CPU fan curve.

-Fixed issue where information "Data Execution Prevention" incorrectly show under OS Windows 7 after you disable "Data Execution Prevention" in the BIOS Setup Menu.

-Improved security of the UEFI and variable code. HP recommends strongly quickly transition to this update to BIOS version which supersedes all previous versions.

NOTE: Due to security changes, after installation of this update of the BIOS, previous versions cannot be reinstalled.

The first point, it's what can help solve your problem.  You should be extremely careful to follow the instructions when you perform the update.  A failed BIOS update can brick your computer.

The next step is to download one of the many applications that will allow you to adjust the speed of the CPU fan.

Please click on the button + Thumbs up if I helped you and click on accept as Solution If your problem is resolved.

  • [Help] Script type CPU

    Hi guys,.

I'm stucket with a script that can display the CPU usage by processor type and % of host with AMD for any attached host to a vcenter.

    Is their my little script...

    $TotalCpu = (get-VMhost | where {$_.}) Hardware.CpuPkg [0]. Description-match "Intel"} | Measure-Object-CpuTotalMhz property-sum). Sum

    Write-Host $TotalCpu MHZ

I also want to know if there is a way to have the percentage of host with AMD and intel.

Already try this script from alan (works fine)

    Get-VMHost | Sorting Name | Get-View | Select Name, @{N=Cluster; E={Get-Cluster -VMHost (Get-VMHost $_. Name)}},@{N=CPU; E={$_. Hardware.CpuPkg [0]. Description}}

But have no idea how to extract my precious

If anyone can help (great Lucd are you there?)

    Thank you

    You mean something like this?

    $esx = get-VMHost

    $totInt = $esx | Where {$_.} ExtensionData.Hardware.CpuPkg [0]. Description-match "Intel"}

    $totAMD = $esx | Where {$_.} ExtensionData.Hardware.CpuPkg [0]. Description-match "AMD"}

    Write-Output ' Total ESXi: $($esx.). (Count) '.

    Write-Output "Intel Total: $(' {0:p}'-f ($totInt/$esx.)). Count)) '.

    Write-Output "AMD Total: $(' {0:p}'-f ($totAMD/$esx.)). Count)) '.

  • With the help of the CPU shares

    Hi people,

I learn my exam VCP - VTC 550 and I have a question about the actions for which I have not found an answer:

How do stocks work when I have virtual machines with different numbers of vCPUs allocated?

Suppose I have a host with 5 x VM and the host has a simple core quad with 4 GHz. processor (4x4GHz = CPU 16GHz total host resources)

VM1-2-3-4: each virtual machine is configured with 1 x vCPU and booking CPU 1000 Mhz (per VM) shares are set to normal (1000 shares)

VM5: is configured with 4 x vCPU and booking with 1000 MHz CPU, stocks are set to normal (1000 shares)

    running virtual machines have a total reservation of 1000 + 1000 + 1000 + 1000 + 4 x 1000 MHz = 8000 MHz

But how host remaining 8 GHz CPU resources are allocated among virtual machines (assuming that all virtual machines are busy and in the State of contention CPU)?

    Thanks for the clarification!

    BR

    Janos

Welcome to the community - where the confusion is coming is that actions are not really clock cycles, but a percentage of available clock cycles - think the total number of cycles as a pie of the amount of shares determine how pie the divided when there is argument - so with your example each vcpu can occupy a whole kernel and you have total 8000 shares - when vcpus all need a kernel full cycles CPU will get divided how a single vcpu vm will get 1000/8000 cycles cpu available when there is a conflict and the quad vcpu will get 4000/8000 or 1/2 of the available cycles

    hope this helps

I just got my new E545 and started. I noticed that the CPU is very hot and then ran a few tests of software. It is to show the CPU temp around 92 degrees C/196 degrees F.

  • Need help with a CPU...

I have a HP Pavilion a6212n. And I was wondering if A Intel Pentium Dual - Core E6500 would work in it?

It is said that it can withstand up to an e6700 (core conroe) but The E6500 is a core Wolfdale?

    CPU info

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16819116093

    Motherboard Info

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01080268

Yes, the E6420 so the E6320 have nucleuses "Conroe".

Intel also made a Conroe E6700 2.66 GHz with 4 MB of L2 cache (sSpec:SL9S7). That's twice the E6500 Wolfdale cache, but its frequency is a little less and the Wolfdale walk was R0. This Conroe E6700 has on the other hand, B2 step by step and it is compatible with your motherboard.

Conroe E6600 (sSpec:SL9S8) are also a very good processor 2.4 Ghz, cache 4 MB and B2 walk again.

Socket 775 CPU with L2, A1 and D0 steppings, will also work. But not obsessed with the revision. Code named "Conroe" you don't what need to know as much as you're going to put a Core2Duo. Make sure it is Conroe and 1066 or 800 FSB and it will boot without problem.

EDIT: And it would not hurt to update the BIOS of the motherboard if you haven't done so already: smiley:

  • Overheating CPU

I have a XPS 9000 5 years.  A couple of years ago, I replaced the heatsink / fan that is mounted on the CPU due to the hot weather of kernel running. I replaced it with the same model stock radiator/fan.  In the last few weeks, I noticed the computer sometimes at a standstill and therefore checked the CPU time using CoreTemp and saw that times were broadcast at about 70 ° C with little load and ramp up to the 1980s when under a moderate load.  So I opened it upward, on the radiator/fan, cleaned using canned air, clean up the old paste heat (on the radiator and hood CPU), applied the new Arctic Silver (grain of rice in the middle of the plate of CPU; has it propagated not manually), re-installed the fan/radiator and then cleaned out the other fans in the computer using canned air.

As soon as I turned the computer back on, the CPU fan began to go very fast and he continued during the whole start-up.  Once in Windows 7, I ran CoreTemps, which showed time in the early 1990s and eventually 100, then it stop.  There were times in the early 1990s again after a few hours of waiting.

Is it normal that the hot CPU during startup?  I ask because I'm afraid I can have damaged the heat detectors in the CPU, which is to give the computer the wrong information, which in fact think it's hot when it's not.  The fins of the radiator were not hot, but I wasn't expecting them to, give the computer had been on less than 5 minutes.

If it is normal that the hot CPU, so I guess that means that I have not reinstalled the radiator properly (although I don't know how it's possible, given the screws are all in the right place and I thought I had screwed in pretty tight).

Is it possible that I have damaged the heat detectors?  I didn't remove the CPU cover, only cleaned, but maybe some of the vacuum Arctic slipped on the side of the cover?

Your heater does not make good contact.  The thermal led is the case of the central processing unit.

That's why you make a ball of paste in the Center and smoosh down. For several hours the compound radiator will accommodate in.

Before you continue just a matter of discussion:
Let's say I help you with this and damage you something or broke a plastic part, what you will do in this case?
I mean you probably know that you can get a few small important parts as separate components.

By the way: this description may be provided in the manual. Disassembly of the laptop is authorized personal only. When you buy a new car it is no description how to disassemble the entire engine, right?

By the way: Jeanine's right. See this page. There are many useful tips on laptop disassembly procedure.
