Help! Windows cannot load a critical system driver is missing or damaged.
Hello
I really hope that someone can help me! I've read through dozens of discussions without results. The laptop I use for establishing the budget, research and games has Windows Vista. I was downloading of test (probably too at the time) and my system crashed. I do not have the installation disk, or pre-installed her "takeover of marketing", did the thing F8 nothing helps and I can't afford to lose any files.
I get absolutely no where but back to screen Windows Boot Manager telling me that Windows was able to start. The following information is referenced:
\Windows\system32\drivers\acpi.sys
Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: Windows didn't load a critical system driver is missing or damaged.
Thank you!
MsCameron
Hello
Via F8 safe mode is not an option for you, try a startup repair and / or a system restore using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft
Manufacturers recovery disks normally do not have Service Options; they are normally a relocation to the factory only settings option.
Here is the guide to repair Options using a Vista DVD from Microsoft.
If a friend or a work acquantance of yours has one, you can borrow and use it for repairs.

- Conclusion
If you do not or can not borrow a Microsoft DVD there is a download of a file ISO of Vista Startup Repair available that you can put on a Bootable floppy to make the above startup repair and that the method is recommended by a large number of posters in these Forums.
Unfortunately, you have to buy it.
Here is a link to it:

Saving your files:
You can remove the hard drive and put it in a hard drive USB enclosure > plug it into another computer > and try to read and copy your data in this way.
Or, you can download Knoppix > make a bootdisk to > start your system with it (IF your material is all work) > and copy your data from the hard drive like that.
See you soon.

0xC0000221 error windows didn't load a critical system driver is missing or corrupt.
Hey, I got a letter on my laptop to install service pack 2 for windows vista and I did it with no complications until I reset my laptop and when it came back I received an error:
Windows could not start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To solve the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
2. choose your language settings, and then click "next".
3. click on "repair your computer."If you do not have the disk, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.
File: \Windows\System32\drivers\ecache.sys
Status: 0xc0000221
Info: Windows could not load a critical system driver is missing or corrupt.I followed these instructions several times and made repairs to start ending telling me that "Windows cannot repair this problem automatically" and "If you recently set a device to this computer, like a camera or portable music player, remove it and then restart your computer." I have nothing connected to the computer.
I also tried to restore the system that is not no matter how far back that I try to restore to.

Original title: file corruption
My laptop is around the age of 13 months. For the 6 months charges I couldn't play all the music in the music library of the media player. the error message would say my music files have been damaged or corrupted. I tried to delete the files, but could not. unexpetedly about 2 weeks ago the media player has started working properly, and even though I was confused, I was happy to be able to listen to my music. However, when I did my weekly back, a message appeared that said that some files could not be backed up. My computer has since fallen twice and had to repair itself and then when I tried my weekly backup only yesterday, the computer won't start backup. reads the error message: Bit Locker encryption cannot be used because the Bit Locker critical system files are missing or damaged.
I find it strange that "file corruption" has been cited again but when I try recommended fixes, nothing changes, just as it was when I had problems with the music. Help, please

Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.
Restore point:
http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/
Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.
Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.
Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.
http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm
Read the above for a very good graph shows how backward more than 5 days in the System Restore Points by checking the correct box.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If the system or Mode restore safe work not and you do not have a Microsoft Vista DVD, make a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
See you soon.
Hi BarbaraWolfe,There are many causes of Code 39 errors:
- A required device driver is missing.
- A required binary file is corrupted.
- There is a problem with the file I/O process.
- A driver that refers to an entry point in another binary file cannot load.
Re-install the driver by downloading it from the link given:Additional reference on:Check if that helps. -
Windows vista HP didn't not load because the system registry is missing or corrupted state 0x000014c and the cd cannot read the recovery disk, could someone help, thanks
Hello help 757,
My apologies for the delay in the answer here.
We need to check the BIOS of the machine and make sure that the CD drive is the first boot device.
When this is complete, we can use the following article:
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307545
PLEASE NOTE:
BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can resolved e. Changes to settings are at your own risk
Let us know if you have any questions.
Original title: CD/DVD drives do not work after upgrade from XP to Vista
I upgraded my dell E521 to Vista dimension, but now finds that none of the CD/DVD drives work. I also tried two external drives, same thing. I downloaded the new drivers for the internal disks and when I tried to install the windows said they already had the best drivers. Both drives are TSST - I get device status "windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The unit may be damaged or missing. "I want to upgrade to 7, but can not run the dvd, and apparently MS has no download available if you purchase cd! Am tearing my hair!
Hi krt2,
In general, the error can be caused by a missing required device driver, a required binary file is damaged, if there is a problem with the process I/O file, or if a pilot that makes reference to an entry point in another binary file which can not load
You can try to uninstall and reinstall the driver for the device to solve this problem.
Step 1: Uninstall the CD/DVD driver. Follow this step to do the same thing:
a. click the Start button, select Control Panel, click System and Maintenance and then click Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
b. expand CD-ROM/DVD-Rom drives-> right click on the device, and then click Properties.
c. on the device properties dialog box, click the driver tab, and then click on uninstall.
d. restart your computer.
Step 2: Reinstall the CD/DVD driver by visiting the manufacturer's Web site.
See the links below for more details on the update of drivers:
Updated a hardware driver that is not working properly
Also, read the following article and check if that helps.
Windows cannot load driver DVD - RW - Code 39
Accidentally, I messed up my cd-rom drive. Just recently, I bought a toshiba as100-s40dt and when I tried to play a dvd, it says that the DVD cannot be read because the region is not supported by the drive of cd-rom. I realized I can do only 4 changes so I thought maybe I could just download a software that can help me play the DVD without change the region settings in my laptop. I downloaded a software named DVD UnlockerDriver64 and as I restarted my laptop, I can't find my dvd drive in Explorer as well.
It all started with the code 52 so we are trying to update the driver, it changed to code 39.
Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be damaged or
Error status is 0 x %x
I checked my driver and it says that I still have the best driver installed in my system.
BTW, you should check with the support of this DVD Unlocker program since it is the
cause of your disorder.Don't forget to check with the support of Toshia because OEM, they are responsible for the good
