Windows could not load a critical system driver is missing or damaged

I have windows vista OS, I ran the update and when I went to re-booting I got an error of the black screen that says: failed to load because a critical system driver is missing or damaged, and now I can't get my computer to start windows. I created a disc of recovery from the internet, but it cannot solve the problem.

today

When you say that a recovery disk can not solve the problem you should say disk was and what did you actually

have you tried this:

1st thing to try is a restoration of the system in safe mode

http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

Windows Vista

Using the F8 method:

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap theF8 key repeatedly until you are presented with theBoot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
  3. Select the Safe Mode option with the arrow keys.
  4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
  5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
  6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

If that does not read this information

the link below is how to download and get a vista disk startup repair, which you can start from the

http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Here's how to use startup repair system restore command prompt, etc. to bleepingcomputers link below

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html

to boot from the dvd drive to be able to you will see a way to get into the bios Setup at the bottom of the screen or command menu start

It would be F2 or delete etc to enter the BIOS or F12 etc. for the start menu

Change boot order it do dvd drive 1st in the boot order

Hey, I got a letter on my laptop to install service pack 2 for windows vista and I did it with no complications until I reset my laptop and when it came back I received an error:

Windows could not start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To solve the problem:

    1. Insert your windows installation disc and restart your computer.
    2. choose your language settings, and then click "next".
    3. click on "repair your computer."

If you do not have the disk, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

I have nothing connected to the computer.

I also tried to restore the system that is not no matter how far back that I try to restore to.

  • Help! Windows cannot load a critical system driver is missing or damaged.

    Hello

I really hope that someone can help me! I've read through dozens of discussions without results. The laptop I use for establishing the budget, research and games has Windows Vista.  I was downloading of test (probably too at the time) and my system crashed.  I do not have the installation disk, or pre-installed her "takeover of marketing", did the thing F8 nothing helps and I can't afford to lose any files.

I get absolutely no where but back to screen Windows Boot Manager telling me that Windows was able to start.  The following information is referenced:

    Hello

Via F8 safe mode is not an option for you, try a startup repair and / or a system restore using a DVD of Vista from Microsoft

Manufacturers recovery disks normally do not have Service Options; they are normally a relocation to the factory only settings option.

Here is the guide to repair Options using a Vista DVD from Microsoft.

If a friend or a work acquantance of yours has one, you can borrow and use it for repairs.

If you do not or can not borrow a Microsoft DVD there is a download of a file ISO of Vista Startup Repair available that you can put on a Bootable floppy to make the above startup repair and that the method is recommended by a large number of posters in these Forums.

Unfortunately, you have to buy it.

  • Once I turned on the computer I got the following message: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or damaged. System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys

I just download Microsoft Office 2010 Professional and then turns off the computer with XP operating system. Once I turned on the computer I got the following message:

    Windows could not start because the following file is missing or damaged;

    System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys

You can try to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD

Select 'r' in the first screen to start repair.

Then, I started the computer with the Original installation CD and press 'r' by following the instructions. Then, I received this message:

    1: C:\WINDOWS

Which Windows installation you want to connect?

    (to cancel, press enter)

    What do I put here?

You must first start on doing something so USB drive a bootable Hiren.

    Here's how:

I'll recommend you use Hiren boot CD (it will go also to a flash/USB stick/USB).

It's good for you, because there a lot of tools more on that on the Recovery Console CD of XP, doesn't your administrator passwords and you will not have to futz round in your BIOS, if any afflicted system has SATA drives - Hiren can deal with this.

You will have a bunch of great tools that you have in XP... Recovery Console an editor of the register, adjustable password and an office that resembles Windows XP so you will feel comfortable flexibility.

You can easily copy your personal data (documents, pictures, music) to an external drive.

A system of work, start by downloading the latest version on Hiren Boot CD from here (it is a substantial download but worth it):
http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/    (look to the bottom of the page).

Unzip the Hiren to a folder where you can find it.  There's a Hiren. BootCD.15.x.iso that you have to then.

Hiren was instructed to make a bootable USB drive that you can use, but it takes you first burn the .iso to a CD image file and a few other measures, so I suggest another way and here's how:

Download RUFUS 1.3.2 or whatever the latest version is here (read a few things on the page so you can learn more on this subject):

    http://Rufus.AKEO.IE/

I will warn to be careful that don't accidentally format you a hard disk - don't forget your USB key is in and know what the drive letter!  This part makes me still a little nervous, so be careful.

Launch of RUFUS and all default values should be fine for the device, choose letter of your USB drive, quick tag format FAT32, it if you want and in the Format options box, click on the little icon that looks like a CD and a window will open.  Navigate through this dialogue to point to the folder that contains the Hiren. BootCD.15.x.iso that you have unpacked above and the box should change to say the image ISO (RUFUS includes the Hiren ISO file).

Double check you have the right device selected in the top (NOT you HDD) click Start, acknowledge receipt of the warning and let it finish (it will take a little time) it copies the files.   Hiren ISO is also a good size.

When RUFUS is finished, it will say "DONE" at the bottom.

Put the USB in the afflicted machine and reset/reboot and regardless of the button you press to get a boot menu where you can select the USB drive as first boot device (it's F11 for me).  If you do not see a start menu choice, you will need to set your BIOS to boot from USB first instead of the HARD disk.

When the Hiren menu displays, choose the XP Mode of Mini and it will start loading (slowly from a USB key) and finally, you should see a windowsy looking for office.  You should recognize the part and feel uncomfortable, but it is not your office - the office of the Hiren!

Remember: you do not start on your hard drive, - you started in the Office of the Hiren.

A way to check the drive for errors is to open my computer and right-click on your afflicted player and choose Properties, tools, error, check checking now... put a check mark in the boxes and then start.

Sometimes that works, then you can also click on start, run and in the type box:

    cmd

Click OK to open a command prompt window and enter the following command (assuming that XP is installed on your C drive)

    CHKDSK c: /r

This disk check can last a long time (perhaps several to several hours) depending on the size of the volume, the amount of data on the volume and what the disk check finds to do.  You may need to run more than once.

  • Message says: "Windows could not load correctly" then he got the error: "0xa0000001.

So I recently got these computer errors on my laptop. The pixels on the screen start to panic and it still restarts my computer.

The first time, he started was when I was playing a game called League of Legends and it worked perfectly fine on my laptop, and he had always run around 70 fps. I played this game for a long time. Then, in the middle of an online game the screen flipped out and restarted my PC! He sent me a message saying: "your PC has encountered a problem :(. "

After it restarts my laptop and then after restarting the pixels on the screen start to panic again and it restarted. After that restart again once he sent me a message saying he will "fix the problem on my PC. I clicked on 'Repair' and then it restarted again. After the restart he freaked out again and then it restarted and it gave me a message saying "your PC will convert at an early stage when it doesn't have this problem. This can remove files that have been installed recently. So, I allowed it do and after 3 hours of waiting he brought me to an earlier stage if my laptop was not the problem. He only come back in a few hours. Then the next day, I decided to try again in League of Legends, it was working fine and it launched the game. I was running on my normal fps then he started trolling and it fell to 12 frames per second and the screen flipped out again and then my computer restarted. Once restarted, it it worked fine after 5 minutes it restarted again, and then he gave me a message saying: "Windows could not load correctly" then he said I got the error: "0xa0000001. I turned on my PC and my screen has panic when he started, and then it restarted again give the same message and tell you have the error: 'DRIVER_OVERRAN_STACK_BUFFER '. It came on again and it was worse still panic then it restarted and it gave me the same message saying that you have the error: "BAD_POOL_HEADER". It restarts and several times with lit the screen always freak out so I decided to just remove the plug and ask for help. I went on the computer of my brother and sought a solution for these errors. Turns out Im not the only one to these errors. They say that '0xa0000001' error is caused primarily by an AMD graphics card and my graphics card is an AMD graphics card. The solution for this error is to uninstall the graphics card and reinstall it directly from the manufacturer's website. I could have made this solution and corrected my graphics card, but there is a problem. Whenever I turn on my laptop the pixels panic and sometimes the screen turns black and then it restarts. I can't access anything whatsoever, and he keeps just restarting. Please help me and tell me how to fix my phone :( I really need a solution to this problem.

    Please answer quickly :(

    Thank you

There is an old saying that if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

    It works again.

    Read this information

You need to get the Driver of your laptop computer software or a hardware manufacturer, not through Windows Update (with the exception of Microsoft put updated material), as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft leverages the hardware manufacturer 3rd party to provide them.

Go to the website for your laptop or manufacturing equipment > Driver and Software Support Section > search your laptop or material style number > then your operating system > locate the correct drivers > download and install.

    ______________________________________________________

But this is no guarantee that this won't happen again.

Also, it would be that the game hardware requirements are higher than supports the hardware in your laptop.

It could also be due to lack of graphic material.

All you can do is search for the latest drivers and play games that require only a material that has your Lapyop.

First of all, I suggest you that you also scan your laptop for infection by the virus. Second, reset TCP/IP stack Winsock settings. This could correct mistakes involving internet connectivity as a result of problems of installation of network software, due to a virus, trojan or malware infection or even due to disinfection of spyware security software.

Reading a similar post, I tried kites 3 methods of WinRE (Startup Repair, Bootrec /RebuildBcd, System Recovery) but they didn't work. I ran the WinRE Windows memory diagnostic tool and no error on my hard drive.

I went to the gateway support site & also tried to access the recovery partition by pressing ALT + F10 to reboot, but it didn't work either. I tried pressing F8 safe mode, but I don't have the option "Repair your computer" that would have gotten me in the window of the gateway recovery management. I can't get in either safe mode, load a list of files and stops on Loaded: \Windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys, then the message Windows Boot Manager window reappears again (see above).

Reading another post, perhaps to copy files .nls of my installation on my hard drive cd would do the trick, but I don't know how to do this. I need the old data, I want to just my laptop to boot and run without having to buy a new hard drive.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Here is an answer I've found: http://www.eggheadcafe.com/software/aspnet/34039669/nls-data-is-missing--cannot-repair.aspx of Gary Velvet:

I set up an instance of Vista virtual machine and copied since all the
*.nls in/Windows/System32 files and all *.fon files of the
Windows/Fonts.  I then put on a USB key and inserted in
    the breakage of the machine.

I didn't know that this WindowsRE could read USB drives. It does things
easier. I then crushed the files on the area damaged with those of the
clean installation and a reboot took me directly in Vista.

If may also be possible to copy corrupted files of a true Vista Installation DiskLhttp://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/261616-extract-files-vista-installation-dvd.html.

To find out which kid are corrupt, we need to run a program to find the corrupted system files. If you use the drive, go to the prompt controls and cd to C:\Windows\System32. Type sfc/scannow, go and let it run.  It will scan and try to correct some of your system files.  If all goes well he comes complete with no corruption, it could not repair (if it has these post of corruption here or try to analyze it to find the problem or files usinghttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/928228.  Try to put all the files corrupt here so that we can see if they can be repaired with good copies of the installation disc if we can identify those who go there where replace them correctly.

Let's see how these options work before considering anything else.

I hope this helps.  Keep me in the loop.
