  • Why do I get a 'read only File' it means of a new document?

When you save a file in Word 2007, which I just created, I get a box that says he is 'read only', even if the file is NOT read only and just created. This seems to happen randomly, and not with all the files, but on frequent basis. I don't know why this is happening or how to fix.
    Thank you!

    Hello Davehen,

Welcome to the Microsoft Answers Community!

This sounds like the behavior of the trial version of Office 2007. Have you installed the full version on the trial version?

If yes try to uninstall then reinstall Office 2007 to see if that solves the problem for you.

If still no luck, try to reach out to the newsgroup issues General Word for assistance.

I have not a shape option customize in my photoshop CC.  Why is this?  The only form I can do is rectangle.

You have to press on and hold more than a few seconds to see the drop other forms or use the shortcut shift - u.

If you have already done this. Try to reset the shape tool. Select it and in the bar options, right or control-click (Mac) on the icon, choose Reset tool.

  • Why impossible my macbook pro to read only 2 layers of AVCHD?

    Hello

I have a brand new beginning 2011 17 "Macbook Pro with quad core i7 to 2.2 GHz, 8 GB ram, internal a two hard drive and 1 GB ATI graphics card (I used the OWC data Doubler to replace the optical drive with another SATA hd)."  The OS hd is 500 GB 7200 RPM and the other is 750 GB at 7200 RPM.  I have all my project files and media on the 750 and my cache of media on the 500. It seems to me that this should be a lot of power for read only 2 layers of AVCHD video smoothly, but maybe I'm wrong.  What is the bottleneck, & what can I improve? It's very frustrating. Another question, out of curiosity, is how the ATI card do in fact when using first pro? I know that it is not used as a CUDA card would be, so I'm just curious as to what he actually did.

    Thank you very much!

    Andrew

    Andrew,

Here are the reasons why your MacBook Pro could not play back or even two layers of AVCHD video also gently as it should have been:

    (1) first Pro's highly multithreaded - but OSX itself is relatively poor compared to Windows 7 in multhreaded performance.

    (2) more mobile i7s are significantly slower than their desktop cousins because they are designed for low-power consumption, second creation. Mobile processors, in fact, is full of compromises, to start.

And Yes, playback of AVCHD videos in itself is itself almost entirely in software only, even if you have an Nvidia card that fully supports the GPU acceleration in MPE. If you still need a very fast processor for even two layers of AVCHD playback (which are much more tax the CPU than most of the other HD formats - and there is absolutely no free lunch, in this case, because the HD codecs which require no such a robust CPU actually needs of larger and faster drives). Unfortunately, a 2.2GHz i7 is not yet powerful enough to decode the two layers of AVCHD simultaneously; in fact, you will need one that turns to well above 4 GHz can manage this task at all.

  • Why are all my documents gradually reclassified 'read-only '?

This has just started, too and we have not in by me.  Are they being encrypted or compressed to save space on an old machine?

    Hello

    ·         Of document files are what type you referring?

    ·         What the format of the document files?

    ·         What is the location of the document files that have turned into read-only?

    ·         Were there any changes made on the computer before the show?

Follow these steps and check if that helps.

    Step 1:

I suggest you to download and run the latest Microsoft security on your computer Scanner and check if it helps:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Step 2:

    Follow these steps:

    (a) open my computer

    (b) right click on My Documents

    (c) click the general tab and clear the read-only check box

    (d) select apply changes to all files and subfolders

    (e) click ok and check.

  • My computer is now read-only with my CD, why?

When I put the CD in my computer for some reason, they are read-only.

I have no idea how this started.  Sometimes strange before, during a few months at random when I put a CD in a command prompt would not pop up and I had to go in my computer, but it's the only other problem I've had in this area.

The only other thing weird I can think is that I had my computer for a month or two because my power supply bit the dust.  My computer was dead in the world until about 5 days ago.  When I turned it back (with a new power cord) I started having all sorts of problems.  Windows updates keep invites me each day to day, Media Player tells me something to lose the music, since a few days it has been once my music, this problem with CDs and other things that I don't remember right now.

I have not tried to fix it yet because I don't know much about computers and I would rather add to the problem.

  • Why my computer continues to change the file read-only after I have untick

I just had a Virus go through my computer and I cleaned it, then my computer shows I lost all my information, but I know that I have not because I still programs and background even though I've been there and opened a few folders to see if the files are hidden it turns out they were, but the box that says hide has not been verified , so I corrected the hidden problem but now the computer keeps the read-only check box and everytime I try to uncheck once I apply then click ok, it re check it self and I don't really know how to fix this... Please help

    Hi Cameron_513,

Method 1: Run the fixit available in the links below and check if that makes a difference-Worth to try
Diagnose and repair Windows files and folders problems automatically
Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks

Note: FixIt would attempt to recover bad sectors on the hard disk, in the course of this process there are chances of DATA loss from that particular area.

Method 2: follow the steps described in the article below to restore the security settings and then check if it makes a difference.

How to restore the security settings to a known working state?

Method 3: Run Microsoft Security scanner (MSS) to remove the infections of vestige of the computer

Note: Infected files can be deleted from your computer; There is a chance of data loss.

  • Snapshots of read-only... why not?

I would like to be able to open a transaction as a read-only snapshot would be "invisible" to other transactions that occur. This is an old thread asked the same question:

Snapshot read-only for an accessible environment in writing in the same process

First question, is that always accurate information (that is, still impossible)?

Second question, are there any plans to add support for the "snapshot" read-only transactions?

Probably, if I tried to open a new environment in the same process using an EnvironmentConfig with setReadOnly (true), which fails because it is a property immutable, correct?

I thought BDBJE was more or less structured, newspaper that would be average 'snapshot' transactions should be easy to implement. What is actually more difficult than it sounds?

    Thank you

    -Archie

    Hi again,

    1. Yes, it isn't always a feature of the BDB I.

    2. No, there is no plan for it, especially because your application is the only one we received, sorry!

As Linda said in the post you referenced, a way of providing it would be adding MVCC, which is quite an important, difficult feature. But another way, off the top of my head, would be to allow an environment of openness so that it does NOT share the cache (the Btree in memory) with other objects in the environment that are already open in this process. This would have exactly the same effect as the use of a separate process.

I read your older post, and I understand your reasons to use a snapshot. I guess you can do that with a separate process, but has drawbacks and so you do not want to do it all using a single process. Is this fair?

  • Why not make a text box read only based on drop-down of work?

    Hello experts.

I received help on this a few hours ago, and it has worked very well so I closed the discussion and form.  However, now it no longer works and I don't know what I did.

I have a form with a dropdown list and two text boxes.  The first text box is populated according to the value selected in the drop-down list, I used a simple table of the to do and it works as expected.  I had to bring textbox2 read only based on some selections in the drop-down field.  It worked very well at the beginning, but now it no longer works.  I did not any changes to the form except that I closed and since.

I try to get the following to work:

    If (this.rawValue is "Junk" again)

    {textbox2.access = "readOnly" ;}

    If (this.rawValue is "More Junk")

    {textbox2.access = "readOnly" ;}

I put this in the change event using javascript.  I use ARE 8.2 on Windows Vista 32 bit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Jerald

In the case of change you can't get the rawValue... So, use xfa.event.newText to get the modified text...

Also, you have a space at the end of the value while comparing. In the code below I removed it.

    If (xfa.event.newText is "Junk Again")

    {textbox2.access = "readOnly" ;}

    If (xfa.event.newText == more "junk")

    {textbox2.access = "readOnly" ;}

    Thank you

  • Apple UDIF read only compressed (bzip2) in my iMac!

I noticed a new feature added to my iMac:

    'Apple UDIF read-only compressed (Bzip2)'

What? Why? and how did get there?

    Why do I need?

I think, but not sure it was added after the last updated iTunes (version 12.1)

    No explanation will be appreciated.

    PS

It does not appear in my Finder...

    Thank you

This is the disk image to the Flash Player installer that you downloaded.

It is not mounted, so it will not be displayed in the Finder.

With it, selected as shown in the second screenshot, click on the button of the mount. Then, eject in the Finder.

  • After backup: Destination is read-only?

I'm working on implementing a backup procedure appropriate as recommended by most of the experts on this forum. But when you try to save a large amount of data, I get this error message:

Backup: Backup error 'data to USB_HDD_4' job: destination is read-only.

Data, at first sight, seem to be copied on the USB drive.
I tried this on 3 different drives, including the brand new out of the box 2. So I do not think that they would all be defective. This makes me think that it is either a problem with my data on the NAS or a problem in the FrontView backup procedure.

When I connect the drive to the computer and remove the directories manually, for some files with names very long and a deep path, I get an error message ' Source path too Long ":

That's why I'm currently suspect file names very long or very long paths, but I do not know if it is really what is the cause.

I removed a few directories that I suspected of the SIN, but in the next backup, the message continues to come back. So now I'm stuck in a catch-22 situation. I don't know if my backup succeeds and do not want to delete all the data more than the SIN, because it can not saved correctly. So I am not able to set up a procedure of backup appropriate right now.

Has anyone found the root causes of the message "Destination is read-only?
Is it possible that I can get more information about what happened during the backup (for example, this file is causing the message)?

Have searched for a solution to this problem for a long time, but never managed to find the root cause.

In the end, I decided to remove the offending subdirectory containing a backup of a Windows system files. This solves the problem with the backup procedure.

  • Turning point for read only files

Folders with subfolders and those without, keep going 'read only' even if with a click right/properties I continues to turn off the read-only.  Why is this?

    By its design.

The box greyed out for a folder means basically nothing, no change, waiting to be used. This is because read-only in the properties of the folder is only used to apply or remove the setting of all the files in the folder read-only at the same time. If you clear the check box and click on apply, then the files in the folder will be deleted from all they have read-only attributes. Like wise, to check the box to apply the attribute to all files.  The place appears again the next time because, once more, you have not used.

  • Error read-only during the Windows XP networking with a Windows Vista-based computer

Help, please.  We have set up a working group, the destop with Windows XP behaves as the server and laptop with Windows Vista is the other computer.

We can share and open all files.

The problem is with a mortgage loan software. (Chalice)  On the Vista computer, when you try to open a file, we get the error "the file is used by someone else.  You want to open the file in read-only Mode? "We have worked with their Tech Support who insists on the fact that it's a Microsoft set up the problem with the server computer.  In their diagnosis, they say that the cause may be "the server has locked files or you don't have full access to the records.  Their Technical Support remotely connected to our two computers and verified that we have the network set in place correctly-"everyone" has full control of the files.  Both computers have disabled the Windows Firewall.  How can I check if the file is locked by the server?  And why would he block specifically for mortgage loan software?  Any other troubleshooting help would be most appreciated.  They have guaranteed that this software can run on both Windows XP Vista computers & a set.

Another question - when I right click on the folder that this error message, and then click Properties, on the general tab, attributes, the 'Read only' box is populated with a solid green box.  It can also be a check mark or a cache.  I deleted the solid green box and tick, apply settings, but still no luck.  What is the difference between the solid green box and the checkbox for that?

Thank you to those who can help - we are really at a loss!
