Hibernation File Cleaner

I do my cleaning disc and noticed "Hibernation File Cleaner" East of 1.98 GB. I erase or not? There is a lot of memory, but Windows comment advises not to erase if you use put into hibernation. If I delete, I have to go through a major adjustment to settings to reinstall the hibernation option. What should do?

Hello cbn123,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft Answers forum.

To resolve this issue, re-enable the hibernation. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click on launch , click on all programs and then click on Accessories.
2. Right-click prompt command and then click on run as administrator of .

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on Allow.

As far as I know, the hibernation file is stored on the partition that is found in the BONES, but I've heard that it can be stored on a separate partition. • How can I delete windows.old folder without losing the hibernation file.

    Mr President.

I recently refreshed my system and a unwanted windows .old file has been generated and it consumes 11 GB of my disk space. So Iwould like to delete this file but the HP support assistant gave me a warning that I should not remove hibernation and sleep file, otherwise I would lose this facility of my system. Thanks for mentioning the steps I have to do to remove the same.

    Yours faithfully,

    R_rk06

    Hello

Folder Windows.Old has nothing to do with the Hibernate. If uou wishes, you can remove it using cleaning system, not normal to delete, to explore. The following steps see the way in which:

    1. Open Disk Cleanup by clicking on the button start . In the search box, type and then disk cleanup in the list of results, click Disk Cleanup.

If you are prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click OK.

    2. In the dialog box disk cleanup, on the Disk Cleanup tab, click on clean up system files.

If you are again prompted to choose a drive, click the drive that you have just installed Windows on and then click OK.

    3. Select the check box Previous Windows installations and the other check boxes for files that you want to remove, and then click OK.

    4. In the message that appears, click on delete files.

  • in newsgrps have more than 1 million no read and not downloaded files-Clean Up does not.

in newsgrp, have file w/over million posts not downloaded, someone, long ago, I suppose. So far, I could post & clear, shows, all were read. But more vccan can't post. I tried the Clean Up program, but who does that for downloads, these have not been downloaded. I would like to remove this file newsgrpup and re-subscribe as a new post, I can not just delete, delete or clean all including messages NOT DOWNLOADED.  Can help you, or what you do more need I haved XP SP 3. Thank you

Unsubscribe the newsgroup. In tools | Options | Read, uncheck the box: get x headers at a time. Close and open OE and re-subscribe. This will download all messages on the server of the discussion group.

Now, if you just want these days, or so to create this rule before downloading.

Tools | Message rules | News.

Box 1: Where the message was sent more than days ago
Box 2: Delete it & stop processing more rules
Box 3: Click on 'Days' and choose the desired number of days.
    Name the rule.

When you go to, or subscribe to a discussion group, it will download only the messages for the number of days that you have selected.

Now you should be able to use catch-up for messages not downloaded.

Opinions on this vary, but in tools | Accounts | News | Properties | General, I include this account when checking for new messages checked. When OE automatically checks the e-mail (but often you defined for), it will also download all the new messages at the same time.

  • Hibernation file

I didn't know how important hibernation is until I found that he has an important role in the simple startup and fast a P.C. I deleted this file, when I saw that it eats a lot of HARD drive memory. I have used AVG disk cleanup to remove the entire file. I was a month ago since I removed it. And now, I'm too jealous on my friend's cell phone because it starts so fast. It uses an OS of Windows 8.1 and I suspect that his laptop uses the file hiberfil.sys to faster start and stop quickly. I have also experienced before, but have no idea about this until I knew what the hibernation that is behind the mystery. Now, after much research I don't know still how to retrieve hiberfile.sys. Now I knew his role, out there with a big sweet heart can someone help me how to bring him back again? I want my laptop to fire in speed as a laptop from my friend. Any help will be much appreciated. Thank you and God bless :)

You have no need to recover a file hiberfil.sys since if you have Hibernate enabled and call it, a fresh hiberfil.sys file will be created to store the current state of things on your system.

When Hibernate you, Windows takes a snapshot of things that are loaded in RAM (and other things) and their output to a fresh hiberfil.sys file writes that when you put again after hibernation, Windows will read in the file hiberfil.sys and you will / should see the same things you did when you choose Hibernate (open files open programs browser open, etc.).  I would avoid the sleep option, because if your system loses power (or your battery drains) in sleep, you may lose or corrupt open files.   Sleep is inherently risky.

The hiberfil.sys file size depends on the amount of RAM your system... the more RAM you have the file will be (about 75% of your total RAM) and if you have a lot of RAM file will be great and if you're thinking of coming our of hibernation may actually take more than a cold start so you have to decide what is the best option if you want a quick start to the top.

Windows 8 has an other called quick start feature that does not exist in Windows 7, so it is possible that your friend with Windows 8 is to use this feature.

Read the GTS - NJ article about hibernation in Windows 7, and see how you like it and if it saves you time.

Then you can ask your friend with Windows 8 when using quick start you can read here:

  • Temporary files cleaning disc

    Hello

I just ran the disc cleaner after using my computer for a few years. The thing is my temporary files proves to be 273 GB. Check the forums I have not seen a number of as much so I'm just curious to know if I should remove it or not? Thank you

If you have not run this in a few years, this number is possible.  Before deleting I would at least establish a restore point

In General, if they are temporary files, they are safe to remove

  • Log spooler files cleaning

My file D:\spoolerlogs (spooler.xml) has increased to 69 246,1 MB.  How can I reduce and stop from growing so large in the future?

Most of the information on the spooler.xml seems to be related to the different versions of Windows Server, which is not the typical home user.  On the other hand, you are not unique in having this problem in Windows XP.

The spoolererrorlog (i.e. spooler.xml) seems to be related to the Windows Error Reporting Service.  See, for example, Ko 960919, which relates to Windows Server 2008.

This Technet Article explains how to disable the logging of events to printer for Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows Server 2003 with SP1, Windows Server 2003 with Service Pack 2, but the options are also available in XP.  Click Start > printers and faxes > file > server properties > advanced.

310414 KB describes how to turn off Windows Error Reporting, or to configure to be used only for certain types of errors.  In Windows XP, the error report is the mechanism which, when an error occurs, displays a dialog box that prompts you to report the problem to Microsoft.  I was not aware that it could also create a log on the computer's hard drive.

Personally, my approach to Windows Error Reporting has been simply to use Start > run > services.msc > OK to set the "Startup type" the "Error Reporting Service" to "disabled".  See http://www.blackviper.com/wiki/Error_Reporting_Service#Windows_XP
Your spooler.xml file, it does not seem a good reason to simply delete.  If it will not erase because it is 'in service', stop the error reporting service, then remove it.
