High-gradation environment Foglight specifications

Hello

We have improved our environment for 5.6.10 foglight 5.6.4 and we have completed the upgrade of all FMS (1 unifying fms and 2 child fms) and upgrade Manager agent has also been completed.

But now we doubt that are all the cartridge to be updated can someone please suggest which is required to upgrade the cartridges?  If Yes, who are all cartridges, we need to upgrade?

and also we move the cartridge to the infrastructure already.

Thank you

You can check what cartridges are compatible with 5.6.10 in the section of the upgrade guide cartridge compatibility: http://edocs.quest.com/foglight/5610/doc/Core/Upgrade/Version_Compatibility.php#461135

You can then determine what cartridges need to be modernised.

  • ODI 11 g high availability features

    Hello

Is there a link to all official documentation describing how ODI can be configured for high availability, and more specifically, which described how agents and repositories behave in case of failure.

I saw the notes on how to configure the load balancing between two or more agents.

However, I would like to know what happens if an agent fails:

    • Is there a process of follow-up that imprisons the failure and tries to restart the agent?
    • In this case, the ODI load balancer will be perfectly direct traffic only to available agents.
    • What happens if the agent fails in the middle of a stage of script performance?
    • Will of the database session, getting lost and rollback?
    • Stop the script or remaining available agents will manage the process of running success?

Similar requests are the repository itself - if the master repository database or the work fails what is happening? Assuming, the repository is installed on a multiple-node cluster environment, if only one node fails, everything will run scenario fail (and need to reboot) or that there is a transparent failover to the remaining nodes in the cluster housing deposits ODI?

I have a requirement where the ETL (ODI) system must be available 99.5% of the year and thus resilience is a key factor and I need to understand the capabilities.

I need to know if high in ODI availability simply means that a process is restarted, if a node or agent fails, or if an existing process will continue until the end due to a transparent failover.

  • Integrate vFoglight Pro with Foglight

We have deployed in our environment Foglight. We recently bought Foglight and ti want to integrate this into the Foglight console. Are there guides to installation on how to perform this task?

    Thank you!
    -Mike

    Hi mhurst120,
I'm sure you can simply import the new Pro vFoglight license in and features that are part of the pro version should be unlocked but you may have to restart the Foglight management service.
What version do you currently use? An upgrade might be available that you can then point to the new license file.

  • Migration of the Foglight environments

    Afternoon,

We are in the process of establishing a new environment Foglight to merge our 3 existing configurations.

    Currently, we have:

2 servers in HA Foglight 4.x running

2 physical servers in HA running Foglight 5.5.5

2 VM HA servers running Foglight 5.5.5

We have just installed 2 new VM servers running 64 bit 2008 rc2 with 8 GB of ram to monitor the end everything.

The installation of the new system went well and the new foglight environment is in place and works and we followed him themselves through the cartridge of the os currently.

Now, we must come up with a migration to start plan to move their follow-up out of the systems to decomission.

anyone has the tips/advice/previous epxereince of migration / departure more and how to maintain monitoring scripts and custom etc, when travel agents 1 environment to another?

Thank you very much for the advice given

    See you soon,.

    Questions:

    (1) graduation: VMs how are you trying to monitor?  8 GB of RAM is a VERY small environment.  The number of clusters allocated?

    (2) persistence of the old data: how much time do you have old data to be available?

    (3) download and install the FGLIDE, it will make your life much better.

Thank you! All the best. Be careful in choosing to shared storage.

    # If your shared file system accessible via CIFS, SMB or Samba, you may search and/or performance indexing and corruption problems when you use the Verity search engine (not supported in 11g).

    # If your file system shared accessible via CIFS, SMB or Samba, you should disable opportunistic locking (oplocks - data client-side caching) of the file system as it might interfere with the normal operations of Content Server. With solutions for storage network (SIN), the performance of the file system may be closely related to oplocking (data caching client-side), which disables the opportunistic locking can cause performance problems. • It is possible and effective: high availability (failover) on 2 guests with local storage?

    Hello

I have a discussion on the implementation of ha (failover) with 2 guests with local storage.

My advice is to go with a shared storage. But there is another view, use the cluster failover MS with local storage service to save on the shared storage hardware.

There is software that can replicate a running, physical or virtual machine to another accessible location on the network. This could be as simple that between two close hosted ESXi of VMS or high-speed WAN. Take a look at things like neverfail, doubletake others.  The costs would probably be a bit prohibitive in a smaller environment. It might be possible and maybe even practice to use a virtual storage device having a failover replication. Use of storage on each host and allows to provide the data store. Open-e

  • Use of OC main high swap Thread

    Hi all!
First of all, I hope this is the right forum to post, because my problem is with Weblogic + Oracle Service Bus using Jrockit
    (WLS 10.3.6 + OSB 11.1.1.6 + JRocikt R28.2.4 + 6.2 CentOs 64-bit)

Then I had this problem when the system often becomes very slow for awhile. Top/iotop using, I found that some threads use high IO and swap, specifically, this:

    * "(OC Main Thread)" id = 3 idx = 0xc tid = 35994 prio = 5 alive, natively, demon * "

And I used regular breaks GC - around 10 sec and sometimes the 30secs

Here are additional JVM parameters for starting the server:
    -Xms3072m-Xmx3072m-Xns128m - Xgc: pausetime - Xpausetarget = 250 ms - osb - Xmanagement:ssl = false, authenticate = false = Djava.rmi.server.hostname, autodiscovery = true, port = 7099, rmiserver.port = 7099 - XX: + UseCallProfiling

Suggestions and ideas would be appreciated

    Hello

    You can change these options.

    -Xns128m - Xgc: pausetime - Xpausetarget = 250 ms

You set the new size of only 128 m 3 GB.

I suggest you keep at least 1.25 GB and see the difference.

  • In a roaming network, Mac always connects with AE which is further away

So, I had a roaming network for years to host a detached office which was too far from my house.  Worked very well.  Now, my family and I have moved into a temporary rented condo (two floors).  Therefore, there is a lot of wifi networks in the area in conflict with.

After trying to extend the network (signal too low in the area), I decided to try the roaming network again.  Most of the time, it works very well.  But from time to time, my iMac (on the ground floor) connects with the Airport Extreme, which is on the floor instead of the Airport Express, which is down in the same room as the iMac.  What happens when it connects to the Airport Extreme on the floor, my Tx rate drops to less than 100 Mbps (sometimes dramatically if) and I am unable to listen to the music to my Airport Express without dropouts.

The dressing was to turn off my wifi on the iMac, and then turn it back on.  It will then connect to the Airport Express.   The problem is that I have to do this in general once a day as my iMac will enter into the "standby" and periodically reconnect with Airport Extreme when I wake up (or if I re-enable it if off).  Ideally, he would stay with the Airport Express.

So I hope that there is an alternative.  I thought about simply renaming the Airport Express network in the different name of Airport Extreme.  But all the itinerant instructions whereby I know that network names must be the same for all airports in the roaming network.  But perhaps this is not the case.

    Comments are appreciated!

Unfortunately, you encounter a known issue with the use of a roaming network... and it is not specific to those provided by Apple either. The "solution" you use, although not elegant, is basically everything with that we have (at this time) to go.

In theory, your iMac fixed, must always connect to the Wi - Fi with the signal network hard... not necessarily the closest to it. It may be possible, since you mentioned that you live in a highly congested environment Wi - Fi, your iMac is struggling to determine the right network to connect to when starting.

Of course, a more "permanent" solution for your iMac, at least, would connect directly to the nearest base by Ethernet station.

Question: In a high availability installation Foglight what URL you hit to access the console? You have to know which server is primary and hit this one, or if the server goes down you are automatically redirected to the correct FMS?

Answer: You need to hit the URL of the primary there is no common URL. Using a proxy is the way to give users a common URL and automatic redirection in the event of failure of the primary.

"Mode high availability is a configuration of multiple Foglight management servers in a cluster where a Management Server is the primary server and the others are backup servers. If the primary server stops responding, one of the servers in the cluster HA standby takes over the responsibility of monitoring. HA mode uses redundancy and failover to ensure that Foglight monitoring continues without interruption. "

  • Migrate answers - dashboards - obiee RPD 11.1.1.6.4 in 11.1.1.6.11

    Hi all

I have a new commitment and as a first time, that I'm dealing with this task, I'd appreciate it if someone could give me some suggestions.

My client is installed in a new environment OBIEE 11.1.1.6.11.

In the previous environment there was using OBIEE 11.1.1.6.4.

My task to move all the previous environment to the new reports, so I have to migrate the repository, answers and dashboards... of obiee 11.1.1.6.4 to 11.1.1.6.11

As far as I know for the migration of the answers, dashboards, guests... I can use the function 'Archive' and the UN-archive "." However, my doubts consider the part of the repository. I guess that there is no need to create from scratch the physical layer, the companies and the presentation, but there should be a procedure of migration/upgrade of the repository...

Please suggest some docs or advice.

    Thank you very much

    Sam

    Hi Sam,

.Rpd de.6.4 a.6.11 passage should not all special high-gradation. I didn't personally do it, but I think that once you open 6.4 .rpd with 6.11 admin tool, you may be asked if he can save it with the latest version while closing.

    I hope this helps.

This has been posted a few years back, but it seems that an adequate response was never given. Is there a documentation of the available industry regarding sizing and planning for the san.

has said. Example, I have a SAN with 1.3 TB of space - why can't be scratched,

say 28 drives in RAID 10 and have 1 large LUN to accommodate 100 strongly

servers used? What happens if the LUN has been scratched with RAID 4? Simple

Guideline sponsor LUN sizing based on the number of PIN based

RAID levels to evaluate the good design of performance for x number of virtual machines

should not be asking for too much. »

    Thanks in advance.

That's the thing about sizing of discs - there is no such thing as a recommendation of mat.

Your sizing LUNS will be more often dependent on the characteristics of I/O you need for the device - IOPS / s, disk throughput, etc.  The number of virtual machines, you can reasonably put on a virtual machine will also be limited by these figures.  What I'm trying to do when my environments of sizing is to determine a PEAK base line (think that request here the worst case scenario - what happens if all VMs apps will go nuts on the disk at the same exact time) IOPS / s (this is usually the biggest bottleneck of disk - physical is a pain here) as the head on an axis can be in one place at the same time), understanding braces how much I need to meet that.  Once I know the number of batteries that my logic unit number has spread throughout, I can watch the overall size of the data store that I'll need.  Keep in mind not only disk sizing here, but also VM snapshots will be whether to use and for how long and also keep in mind the memory allocated to each of the virtual machines to plan for the dimensioning of the .vswp file.  Once I have calibration information, I can watch the split unit size on my storage array, I need to know how much divides satisfy both IO and size needs for the data store, and then create the LUN being mindful of the air RAID.  A rule of thumb that I still use, it's 1 physical pin provides me approximately 150 IOPS / s to work with.  This number is very conservative (and frankly a little old, but I have not looked to drive too deep in the last 3 years).  Also keep in mind that your LUN will share spindles (and so share IOPS / s) with the other LUNs, another activity on the storage Bay must therefore be taken into account during the design process as well.

For example, if I have an environment with 10 applications, each with a peak Ops ES / s 500, I want finally to a LUN that would support 5000 IOPS / s.  In collaboration with my 150 IOPS / s as a rule, I would try to LUN covering 34 pins.  If each of the VMS has been configured with the virtual disks of 50 GB and 4 GB of RAM each, and I knew that the VMs would not have any how snapshots would be growing more than 10% of the size of the original virtual disk, I plan for 550 GB of disk space virtual/snapshot, 40 GB for the .vswp file and some overhead for the files of newspapers , the config and VMFS metadata, etc.  So I would to, say, a 600GB LUN.  At this point, my table of storage can support a LUN covering 34 pins of 600 GB?  It's a Go 17.6 divide size.  A compromise can do based on what you know of your application performance (peak load will happen all at once, or is the worst overall peak lower load?)  which could lead to a larger size of split and the axes less) or what you know of your storage array (split sizes are available more large and smaller than the calculations show - are you going with a split more small and more spindles, wasting available i/o, or do you take the large size of split with fewer pins) (, with the possibility to you of the IOPS / s starving or wasting valuable disk space).

With regard to the maximum number of virtual machines that are placed on a specific data store, you would much more than 32 virtual machines on each, in large part because of the way VMFS file locking is maintained.  Each host locks files in the area of metadata for the VMFS data store.  The locks are updated periodically.  These updates and any other activity to update metadata, causes a lock of all SCSI device be maintained on the disk device.  Above 32 VMs highly used, metadata updates can easily keep the LUN in a locked state, preventing the VM disk i/o to occur.

It is almost impossible to set up a vast document because the recommendations made to your environment are specific to your environment.  Of course, workloads between different stores are similar, but the subtleties of each shop means that any widespread recommendation as "build 500 GB LUN 10 batteries and put 15 VMs on them" would be overkill for 45% of stores to research and would be a disaster of performance for 45%, leaving a small 10% happy environments and a good comfort zone.

Hope that makes some sense and helps.

I don't think you can upgrade your MacBook Air that its resolution is 1366 x 768.

However, you should be able to go down this resolution 1440 p on your monitor.

  • Problems with the photos in El Capitan-cant app drag in other applications and can not find the photos when using Word

I feel very disappointed with the new iMac (27 inch high range) I bought specifically so that I can work quickly with video editing - BUT who currently my old iMac with Snow Leopard on my desk and still use it to create documents in Word, etc, among other things. He really miss the old iPhoto - all about it. Not like the new photos app at all and I was wondering if I can install iPhoto on the new computer? We're stuck with the white background of the screen and do not like the new editing panel either - I had my screen tonic to a shade of gray that is visually not too exhausting to watch as the white. Is there a way to customize the color of the workspace I have forgotten?

I'm not also able to drag and drop photos from the app directly in other applications - this was a great feature that could work very quickly. Can't believe that Apple went backwards with this? Or am I still missed something once?

Also, now, I tried to create a new document in Word and when you open the photo browser to import an image from photos in the document, there is no pictures - all other media is accessible but no pictures, not so to drag picture on the desktop then document - once again, having Apple went backwards , or I'm going crazy?

Hoping that I do not regret this purchase very expensive!

A beautiful (and expensive) iMac. Congratulations.

The latest version of iPhoto still works in (a little hard to get 'quiet' Photos.app) ElCapitan, see a lot of discussions here.

Drag-and - déposer is depending on the applications. There is still work, as usual.

Word is updated to the latest? I heard there were a few problems, but they should be solved now.
