High speed USB 2.0 physical location of the port

I have a HP Pavilion dv6-3122us Notebook PC. I get messages when the transfer of files on the fastest "high speed USB 2.0 port.  My user manual tells me that I have three ports, of which one is a 2.0 port but I am unable to say which is the 2.0 port. Can anyone help me find information on the location and identification of the usb ports?

James Worthen Sr

I just got offline with a HP tech rep and he told me that the high-speed 2.0 port was, in fact, the eSATA/USB port.

With this port, it gives me four ports and I wouldn't imagine that it was even a USB port, as it seems slightly different rather than the usual USB ports. I pluged my Bluetooth adapter in this port and it works fine. I have not tried to transfer files with this port again, except the photos with the bluetooth, but when I do I will seek to see if I still get the same message while transferring. I doubt I would. I believe that this issue has been resolved and I will mark it as my. Thanks to all who responded.

  • Ports high speed USB Equium A100

    I installed a webcam Advent (before exchanging it for a better creative). Part of the installation process involves installing a Microsoft's USB controller. (OS is Windows XP Home Edition). I uninstalled the ADVENT software when I got back to the webcam.

    Since then, I started getting messages every time I plug a USB device, on a device high-speed, requiring a port high speed.

    When I look in Device Manager, I have two sets of Bus USB controllers:

    One includes 2 standard OpenHCD USB host controllers, 2 USB, 1 support 2 USB hubs and USB printing composite devices. Their drivers are dated 2001.

    The other includes 1 class PCI USB 2.0 enhanced host controller and USB Root Hub Device 1. Their drivers are dated 2006.

    I have 4 USB ports and all seem to be using the first series of USB controllers. If I disable one of the controllers, then various USB devices stop working.

    As my laptop is only 18 months old, I would have thought that all USB ports are 2.0 version?

    How can I 'forcing' the laptop to use the second set of controllers?

    Hello

    I think that the biggest problem, it is you would waste more time to fix such a driver related issue then just entering the recovery CD and performing a recovery of your entire system.

    Perhaps the fastest way to put little life back to your ports USB 2.0 high-speed. Otherwise, I had suggested to remove all ports from the Device Manager and let windows after a restart re-install all the drivers, but before perform the reboot it would be better to manually remove all THE drivers installed previously.

    Maybe it helps, but if not he would have definitely better to perform the recustomization...

  • Message: This device can perform faster if you connect high speed USB

    Hello

    I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite 2009 of Vista.
    I just bought a multimedia design Memup Feel of the disc hard 500 GB.

    My concern is that when I connect to my PC, I have the following message:
    + This device can perform faster. USB devices can be faster if you connect to a USB 2.0 high speed +.
    + To get the list of available ports, click here. +

    Then I have a list of ports in bold, but I don't know what to do with.

    How to solve my problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

    Are you sure that your laptop is Satellite 2009?
    I put t know this model of laptop.

    But I know that this error message; This message appears if you connect a USB 2.0 device to a slower USB port; That is, USB 1.1
    But I think that your laptop supports USB 2.0 ports either TI problem disc external HARD s or the issue of USB drivers
    Try updating the chipset driver you can also delete all the USB controllers and hubs in Device Manager ports. Restart the unit. After restarting again the OS would recognize all USB ports.
    Then try to reconnect the USB HDD

  • Satellite A200 - 14 d high speed USB warning

    Hi, guys :)

    For a few months, I have this warning message...
    I looked in a lot of forums, but found answers very very different each time :( Hope you can help me.

    I usually only 1 USB mouse connected to my laptop (with Windows XP Pro SP3).
    The mouse is some Logitech thingie high-speed - nothing special.
    So my WinXP gives me regularly (3-4 and several times a day), a warning about HI-SPEED USB device attached to non-HI-SPEED Hub.
    There is a list in the window of warning with 8 ports.

    -> Intel (R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 Enchanced Host Controller - 27CC
    --->(8 ports) USB root hub
    ---> Unused port
    ---> Unused port
    ---> Unused port

    There is a recommendation below that says:
    Unplug the device USB Composite from its current port and then connect it to one of the ports on a hub are bolded.

    I looked in the Device Manager Windows in Universal Serial Bus controllers- section.
    Here is a list of what's inside:

    ---> Intel (R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Host Controller - 27 8 Enchanced
    ---> Intel (R) 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB Host Controller - 9 27 Enchanced

    I have 4 USB ports (2 on each side of the laptop) and an integrated which is used by the WebCam integrated (think about the last concentrator Rood was the Cam, for when I turn it off, camera stops working and when I enable it again, Windows says, that it has detected a new hardware Chicony USB 2.0 Camera).

    What should I do?
    Let the fact that this warning for HI-SPEED USB is very very boring...
    There might be a hardware problem :( I noticed that controllers host Enchanced USB Intel (r) 82801G deactivation does nothing...
    Everything works as usual.
    For example if I disable the Third USB Hub of Rood, my USB mouse stops working (obviously for the USB port where my summer mouse attached to). But with Intel controllers - nothing.
    How can I use them? What drivers? If this is the case, where can I find new?
    Toshiba obviously do not support its laptops with Windows XP installed on them :(

    Thank you in advance!
    rbaleksandar

    I agree with Akuma. Try uninstalling the USB drivers and if you have installed the drivers for the mouse, remove them and try again.

    In addition, I would try to update the chipset drivers and BIOS. The two you can find on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

    In the worst case, you must reinstall the laptop with the Toshiba recovery disc.

    On the other hand, you have this problem with other USB devices? Maybe it s not a problem of the laptop.

  • USB 3.0 connecting high-speed USB 2.0 drive

    I have a Western Digital 1 TB USB 3.0 external hard drive. I connect it to the USB 3.0 port (blue) on my laptop Acer Aspire 5755-6647, who works under Windows 7 x 64.

    When you connect, I get the "this device can perform faster: this USB mass storage device can transfer information faster if you connect it to a Super Speed USB 3.0 port" message. When you copy files to the drive, I get about 32 MB/s, which corresponds to a USB 2.0 speed.

    I tried to disable the USB power management in the utility USB 3.0 host controller. I tried to uninstall the device and put it back. I'm using the cable supplied with the disc and is a USB 3.0 cable. I have the latest Renesas USB 3.0 driver installed (2.0.34.0). I also tried to use an older driver from Renesas. My BIOS is updated (P5WE0121).

    I don't know what else to do. If it helps, the first time I have connected my laptop hard drive, it's on a USB 2.0 port (I had for some reason any remembered which side of the laptop had the port 3.0 and does not check for blue). As I have said, however, I completely uninstalled the device. I suspect that Windows can be "remember" the device and install with the 2.0 driver.

    Update: I finally try one last thing before you go to Acer support. I thought that perhaps not enough power provided by my USB 3.0 port on the drive, forcing him to 'downgrade' 2.0. So I bought a cable to Yfor $5 to offer auxiliary power of the adjacent 2.0 port. Result: IT WORKS. Immediately connected as a USB 3.0 peripheral speed and transfer is USB 3.0.

    Solved. A little disappointed with the Acer/Intel for the USB 3.0 under normal, however.

  • D-Link DUB-E100 high speed USB 2.0 Fast Ethernet Adapter

    I have a problem with my LAN card when I come overseas for a business meeting. I choose not to send my new phone Samsung difficulty since it is necessary for a meeting. So, I bought this adapter for temporary. It took me an hour to make it work on my Windows 7 with WinXP driver (there is no Win 7 drivers available). I found it works well if I use only for my Microsoft Outlook, but not at all for the Web site. Most of the time I try to surf, my system crash and blue screen appear. Any people have any idea what should I do? I have to be on this thing for months and I have so much to do between this computer and my office.

    Why can't you buy something that is Wondows 7 compatible? The DUB E100 is also old

    On the site of D-Link...

    «The D-Link DUB-E100 is a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet Adapter specifically designed to plug into a port Universal Serial Bus (USB) available on a computer desktop or laptop PC running Microsoft Windows XP, Me, 2000, or 98SE.»

  • Can I get my satellite Pro 2100 high-speed USB 2.0?

    I have a new MP3 Jukebox that can operate at USB 2.0. Do anything to get my Satellite Pro 2100 to work at speed 2.0 that it currently only works with USB 1.1? Sorry, but I'm not very technical.
    Hope someone can advise me
    See you soon

    Hi Bob

    The best solution for you is to buy a PCMCIA USB 2.0 card. As far as I know there are cards with two or four USB ports. This card is not expensive and the installation is not complicated.

  • Host controller high-speed USB 2 for Satellite 1110

    I have improved my Z15 Satellite 1110 XP home to XP Pro. I feel that I have 2 USB ports on my laptop. Problem that I face is that when I connect a USB 2 device, it can not find host controllers and operate at 1.1 speed.

    I read maybe it's a problem with the motherboard drivers, is there anything I can download to fix this problem?

    Hello

    If I remember your unit has three USB ports and they are definitely 1.1. There is no way to make them faster. One solution is to use the USB 2.0 PCMCIA card.

    It is not some kind of anomaly or problem and there is no way to fix it.

    Question: How can I switch to high speed USB port?

    Driver: Intel 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 Hostcontroller - 24 D of Microsoft Version 6.1.2600.0 issued 1.6.2002

    Thanks for the reply in advance.

    See you soon,.
    Tom

    First of all, you can't 'upgrade' your internal USB port to a Highspeed USB port. This is NOT possible, but your machine must have at least 2! ports USB 2.0 capable.

    I suggest you do the following: download the latest drivers for your machine on Toshiba Driver download site, install and check if the error message appears, anywhere you´re attaching your USB 2.0 device.

    Usually one or 2 of these ports should be able to USB 2.0.

    If still, you get the same error message then come back and give some comments, then we can discuss more about.

    See you soon
