High temperatures in a Satellite M70

Hello

hope someone can help me, I'm having a problem of overheating with my Satellite M70. Recently, the hard drive or cpu, I don't know, seems really hot after that the laptop was only a short time of use. I saw the fan at full speed before and well cooled pc, but now really won't work at all.

When my computer decides to heat and the fan comes to life and even then not at full speed and not for a long time. I tried using speedfan, but it does not recognize my fan and he can go faster. It is not yet as something something intense, I could play half-life for example and in just 10 minutes slows down considerably.

Grateful for any advice maxing out the fan speed, will lower the temperature of my computer by 10 degrees C.

Hello

Since last November, I have Satellite M70-159. I must say that in the last days I also noticed that the laptop is pretty hot but it works without any problem. To be honest, it works day and night. Just sometimes I switch off during the night.

The HARD disk temperature is between 55 and 62 degrees. It is much more than on my old laptop Tecra with temperature of 40 degrees HARD drive.

I've never cleaned my Satellite but maybe this is the time to do it. I don't know how old is your but maybe you should do the same.

    Hello!

I have a high temperature 50-53 C (Hitachi, 100 GB) HDD in my Satellite M100. The temperature is controlled by Everest and HDDlife. Is this OK such high temperature?
As for me, I think it's too high, because the drive HARD Hitachi 55 C the maximum working temperature.
    Thank you.

    Hello

In my opinion, all these diagnostic applications such as everest etc provide 100% the right temperature.
Well, all laptops Toshiba supports protection against overheating. The laptop will stop if the temperature rises at the critical level.
I think that the temperature is not too high because the laptop works properly.

  • High temperature CPU on Satellite M30

    Hello

I have a Satellite M30 852 with Pentium M 1.5 GHz processor. My problem is that the heater does not start until the CPU temperature reached 70 degrees, which I think is a bit high, no mention that when it has reached this temperature I can not keep the laptop on my legs because it burns... and also to kind of warm around the touchpad and left side of the keyboard.

My question is if there is any software I can use to take the cooler start at low temperatures, to keep, or if there is no setting I can adjust the laptop utilities to solve this problem (in addition to throttle CPU cooling where is defined in the performance).

    Thank you all in advance!

    Hello

The temperature of 70 ° C nothing unusual and in my opinion not too high.
Is that it s not recommended to use the laptop on your legs or in bet, etc.
You should always be sure that there is enough free space (left, right, bottom) around the laptop for the circulation of fresh air!

Usually, the Toshiba power saver controls the cooling method and the CPU processing speed. If you want to change some settings you should the fact in the basic power saver menu.

PS: on m30 the phoenix BIOS has been installed and therefore, you should use the F2 key.

  • High temperature CPU on Satellite A215

    Hello

My Satellite A215 is 3 months old. I use coolfan 4.33. and my temperature is 89 degrees now... This is not normal. How is that possible? What should I do?

To be honest, that you should not believe all you in these third party applications. For me it is certainly not the result of better and more relevant. The question is: you have problems with your laptop? Cooling fan runs on maximum speed only?

If your laptop works well there is no reason to panic. If you notice that any part of your laptop is extremely hot I recommend you contact the service in your country, and they can check your laptop with real diagnostic tools.

When you use your laptop to make sure that nothing obstructs the rack cooling.

  • High temperature on the Satellite A300-135

    Hello

I bought a Toshiba Satellite A300-135 for 2-3 months and I have a problem with the temperature.
I think that, because all 10 minutes of work from the laptop turns off without closing the windows and I downloaded the base temperature meter and it showed that my laptop was 80 degrees Celsius temperature.

What you are doing exactly those 10 minutes?

  • High temperature on my Satellite A100-159

    Hello

I have my laptop almost 5 months now and this week it crashed during a game, and I had to wait until it has been cooled before that I could start him again. Since then, I have installed speedfan to check the temperature when I'm just on the net and using msn the CPU is about 58 degrees, although I heard that is normal I think it is too high.

Also when I play a game or use a lot the power of my CPU temperature going up to 88 degrees, is this normal or is there something wrong with my cooler? Since today he has also made more noise then before I think. Is there a program where I can check my fan speed with also tried to check for laptop, but it gave the same temperatures and says nothing about my speed of ventilation or stuff like that. So, what should I do?

There is no plant more but I stopped playing the game because I have to study too much :)

No, 58 is certainly not too high
It of also not uncommon that the temperature rises to a higher level during the game or run other applications of strong performance.
In this case different devices such as CPU, GPU, running with a maximum yield and produce a lot of heat.
I can t give you a tip about the fan speed and noise coming from the cooling module, but of course, it is possible to s that the fan is malfunctioning.

Eager for overheating the laptop to be used on the table and not on the knees. (some people use in the bed or knees).
Also, make sure that there is enough free space around the laptop for the circulation of air correctly.

But if you think there could be something wrong with the fan then you could ask a technician for a control. I think that the guarantee is valid. Am I wrong?

  • Re: High temperature on the Satellite A100 PSAA8l

My laptop Satellite A100 PSAA8l is very hot to can up tp 95 temp... scares me!

    Can someone HELP me?

    Hello

It s a time ago since the A100 was released on the market.
It could be a main reason why the temperature rises to this level.

Cooling modules are blocked and that air can circulate properly.
Check if there is dust and debris inside the cooling modules.
Usually, you can use a jet of compressed air to get rid of the dust.
I did it in the past and it helped.

In addition, make sure that there is always sufficient free space around the laptop.
Don t use it on knees, sofa or in the bet.

  • Satellite M70-207: high temperature - how to open it?

    Hello

I own an M70 207 for about a year. A few days ago I noticed a very high temperature in the light front right (near the speaker). I stopped it immediately.
Since then, whenever I turned on the computer, it is this same something three or four minutes, even if everything else is fine.
The fan (which is on the opposite corner) seems to work ok.
I tried to open the case, but I think I did find all the screws, because it is still blocked.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thank you!

It's very strange. I have the same laptop and I noticed a hot area on the left (HARD drive). But on the side right, there is nothing that the PCMCIA location empty. You are using a PCMCIA card?

  • Question about the temperature of the CPU on Satellite M70

My laptop Satellite M70 cpu is always at 80 ° c... Is this normal? Just 4 months.

    Hello

Well, you should know that the CPU temperature depends on different factors.
If you are running high-performance applications and the CPU works with maximum performance, so the temp will increase.
Also if the cooling modules don t run properly or is set to a low cooling method the CPU temperature will increase.

But generally, if the laptop works properly and that you have not noticed a strange if automatically turn off the bottom so I guess everything works fine.
The laptop supports protection against overheating and if the temperature is too high the OS stops the laptop.

  • Satellite M70-164: what is a default temperature of the HARD drive?

I wonder if someone can tell me what are the default temperatures of the hard drieve of a satellite M70-164

    Hello

It is not easy to say. It is based on the use of the HARD drive.
If the turns HARD disk and OS write or read on/from the HARD drive, so the temperature increases, but if you use the laptop only for internet, so the temperature of the HARD drive remains on the low level.

  • Too high temperature on Satellite Pro L20?

    Hey,.

last night, when the temperature of the 'Temp 1 meaning' of game reaches 101 ° C / 210 ° F.

    Is - this too high?

My Toshiba Satellite Pro L20 is now almost 5 years old. The fan works and the Bios for the cooling setting is set to 'Performance '. If the current clock speed is roughly 800 MHz (1.7 GHZ), feel Temp 0 is between 35 and 40 ° C / 95-105 ° F and the Temp sense 1 = 50-60 ° C / 120-140 ° F.

    Michael

Seems a bit high for such a machine... have you ever cleaned the cooling system of your laptop?

Could be the fan and cooling impeller is clobbed with the dust that causes these high temperatures. I suggest you to go for an electronic market, take a can with compressed air and clean with compressed air as the cooling system of dust and all that lives inside your machine. :)

Please check after cleaning if the temp rise again.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite M70-131 Linux temperature controller

    Hi all.
I just got my hands on a satellite m70-131 and I am having trouble with Linux temperature controller.
Anyone know what sensors it runs? The SMBus is detected but just lm_sensors detects any sensors.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you all!

    Hello

Sorry, it failed for me to find all the details about this sensor, but I found this useful page on the monitoring of applications for Linux of temperature:

  • Satellite M70: access to the data of temperature and fan

While we did not have these problems with other laptops, we found a way to access the data of temperature and fan on a Satellite M70.

A friend has tried this on Linux but have failed and also with XP I do not find a way to read data (current temperature of the CPU, or State of the fan-cooler).

Given that I noticed several irregularities when using (the fan is that the CPU load is very minimal), work sometimes is going to be a little uncomfortable.

Thanks for the advice / gw

I put t know if it will help you, but in this ad, someone managed to run a control application of the material.
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=14284

Maybe it will work on your laptop.
But to my knowledge Toshiba doesn't support this request and I'm not sure it will work.
    Anyway, try it's free ;)

  • Satellite A200-1TP - the high temperature of the processor

Hello, I have never had a problem with my laptop up to now... I was playing a game when I couldn't play more because my keyboard was raging on the left side.
I checked the temperature of the cpu and it was 80 c! I don't know too much about temperatures, but I think it is too high.
I closed the game and he lowered to ~ 60, then I tried a program called orthos to check the performance of the PC while making 400 iterations of lucas-lehmer and it reached 95 C! OK, it's time to do something.
I tried to format my laptop and see what happpens... On 'high performance', it of about 64 c and on 'power saver' must be between 50 - 55 c, a better way but I think it should be lower. I tried to clean the fan with a vacuum and I think it helped a little... I dare not open my phone because I don't know that I'll break it.
The fan is not broken, it is running, I tried using 'speedfan' change rpm, but this program does not detect my fan so I can't do anything...
I don't know why this is happening. I was so happy until now... I would like to repair the laptop, not to buy a laptop cooler, then... what I need to do?

    Thank you

-Furthermore, the disc is 41 c and GPU temperature is 27 c, I think these are ok.

    Hello

    > I tried to format my laptop and see what happens... On 'high performance', it of about 64 c and on 'power saver' must be between 50 - 55 c, a better way but I think it should be lower.

No contact, the temperature will not stay if you run applications of high performance as the games for example.
Running high-performance programs all internal devices must run with max performance which leads to a higher heat dissipation and this leads to a higher temperature

Of course clean dust cooling modules and debris should help cool the laptop better but it won't change the fact that you will always see a higher temperature, running games

PS: CPU keeps the temperature of 100 degrees, that's what I found on the Intel page!
