Hinge N5110 break: irreparable?

Hello

I have a off Inspiron 15R N5110 warranty (3 years). Our fan no longer works, so I opened the body upwards to have a look, but found when disassembling our laptop never came with a stand of metal hinge for the basic element of the right hinge. For this reason, when I unscrewed the screws of the hinge, screw holders (typically Cabinet below and be held in place by the metal bracket) broken.

It doesn't seem to be something I can replace, because that broken which seems to be a part of the bronze/metal frame that runs throughout the lower part of the housing.

The part that broke looks a bit like a tiny screw tip, isolated in a ring of plastic metal look.

If you know the part of the machine, as I speak, is it possible, this could be corrected? Because otherwise I have a Clipboard £800!

Thanks to the team at Dell.

Hello :)
I am a technician working in a very small cave...
I know, it's all the dell n5110 has the same problem
When the warranty is over and after a few years the hinge brakes
so far I have fix 7 of the same model same problem
Here's what you need
* Soldering iron kit
* Nipper
* Couple of long screws with spacers (Washers)

The upper screw is the original

First out the broken part of the hinge
and use the pliers to cut plastics

heat the soldering iron
Then place the metal on the place where it can be
(The part smooth down)
and it's the trickiest part :)
FAILURE ON PRESSURE AND OVER HEATING WILL MAKE WORSE :(
use the soldering iron to heat the metal press down slightly

Complete, you need to put a spacer (washer) between the space to avoid air or shake
but I ran out of braces, so I just left that way :)
and incase the plastic body is more damaged there is plan B :)
hope this will help you :)

-Does anyone know if Lenovo Y50 is still having the screen display hinge break or blow up the basic problem?

There are a few things to consider here-

    (1) Yes, about 20 people are are complaining here, but I'm sure that thousands have bought this laptop. I think this is a defect of manufacturing, but only to a specific line. (I know should be fixed, but I don't know if it was)

    (2) you can always opt for another laptop or buy this one and follow the loosening of the screw (ONLY if the streams of your screen and hinge when opening).

  • Spectrum x 360 2 months of life - is prone to break defective right hinge?

    Hi dear,

I bought in my country (Italy) the spectrum x 360 (edition 2015), model 4102nl, 8 GB of RAM, SSD 256, i7, QHD screen in September, is two months old.
Since the first day I have unboxed my spectrum, I noticed what looks like a manufacturing defect, despite its very small.
My right hinge is not in line with the display, compared to the left hinge cover and it comes out of the cover of less than 1 mm. The left hinge only sticks.
Also, when I open the cover of the display sometimes (usually when I close the screen completely) I hear a very slight noise coming from the right hinge.
This would allow to break immediately? This case, the display can glass to break because of his bad alignment and consequent bending of the cover of the display?
I would like to avoid to send to the service because I need the laptop for work, I would like to send to service only in the case it can cause any problem in the future.

  • HP envy 6 - 1010sv: left hinge broke, about to break

    Hello!

I have the 6-1010sv envy and the left hinge broke. From what I've read in the forums, this is a very common problem.

Right now I'm looking for my repair options.

I called the phone number, I found in the forums and they said since it is a guarantee out product I could not send to Hp (?) and suggested to visit a store (Bestbuy) for technical support. (BTW Best buy does not offer this kind of support...)

In addition, my laptop was bought from the Greece and they suggested to contact hp Greece for more options (!). The thing is that I live in the USA and I don't understand why I can't have tech support here in the United States.

Does anyone know how can I fix my laptop? Centres of local authorized repair maybe?

This House in 2008 has a removable battery, now a 1 TB SSD and one of the screens of the brightest I've ever seen.  We are now at OSX 10.11.8.  I can't give it up.  BUT the hinges have become SO tight that something will give way.  I tried a drop of silicone spray on each end but no help.  Do I need parts, or anything else I can do?  Help, please.  I love this machine

You may need to consider a replacement hinge operation, perhaps note if

the new hinges seem to lack lubrication prior to installation; Maybe use a

few modern synthetic lubrication instead of silicone. Most of propellants

silicone spray will end off-gass; If some silicone stays behind.

And any excess can seep or drip some time, if not synthetic is used.

Some of the best products are used in fine machines or mechanical

camera, or other maintenance & repair. Most say if synthetic &

some people are not spray. I have used several; most work better than

silicone spray and last longer. New hinges could be bent several times

before the installation with a synthetic lubricant worked in the pivot points.

Clean all excess, if you do this. Synthetic good will dry and leave

only lubrication, no propellant gas. And dry lubrication does not attract dust.

This lubricant should prevent metal-on-dinner wear, as in a car engine.

    {Note, other users had problems with their MacBook Pro 17-inch hinges}

being too loose; While maybe something to consider before lubing pre

the replacement of hinge before Assembly; Flex-maybe just the few

dozen times to see if they break some without synthetic lubrication. I'd do it

consider squats for a while, then apply synthetic flex a little more, and

wipe; to see if they break a little... before installing the new hinges. The

hinges may present some pieces of metal in the excessive lubrication, which will show you

    upward on fluffy clean (disposable) fine cloth, it is removed.}

This type of repair is considered to be 'Difficult' so a qualified service can view.

  • Replacement of the frame and hinges - HP Pavilion dm4 laptop

I have a HP Pavilion dm4 laptop of 2.5 years. The first hinged on both sides broke that makes it harder for the laptop to close properly and now the frame is breaking apart. Is there a way I can get/buy replacements before other parts are screwed up.

    Thank you

Yes, I also have this problem (dm4-1050ea).

It all started on February 2015, when my aunt noticedv that my laptop was nt close properly.  It could be be made to do by pressing half upper (screen cut) to the front to the rear of the closure.

The hinges then becomes deective that the screen don't would not SOUPLESE nd would not sit just to the place (angle) you open to.

Following the hinges too stiff beame to exploit, came shortly after the left of the screen/lid and the window broke near the LH hinge (rather than though the bezel as shown in the image above). Then the right hinge broke off, then the screen become deective (mainly a band along the LHS - worked with detached hinges OK))

So, I find myself with computer work, not 100% functional & broken and needs special care to use. the screen does not work in all areas (a replacement looks like £30-$50), with the virtually hanging screen, need to rplace lying hinges (£10-$15) and also nees any other bits (?) and the knowledge to fix it.  HP say they can't stand any more of this model and have no theparts (from end of 2015).

It may be beyond the capacity of an almighty ccompany such as HP to find parts, but it does not seem beyond the my ability to get parts of - maybe-2nd hand - other HP broke! - But what I lak is kno detailed ho a skill to perform any repair.

  • Portege R700 - the display hinges are loose

    Hello

my brand new R700 seems to have a bit of a monkey of surrender of a screen on this subject.
When I use the machine at home, I'm sitting on a coffee table, titration so the screen in an equitable way back at right angles to the display

If I then get the laptop to use it on mine... well, basically... the screen returns to fully open/flat right through the movement of lifting machine

Someone else had a similar problem and if yes is it too simple that chew up the hinge bolts and how they access do?
I rip portable outside all the time, but never a new brand that I'm worried about scratching, so I want to assure you that I understand!

    see you soon

    Ben

    Hello

Don t have had similar problems with my laptop but maybe the display hinges are loose
Usually, these hinges are hidden behind plastic chassis and you would need to disassemble the laptop to get access to these parts.

In general I put t recommend disassemble this laptop pretty.
First of all, you will lose the status of the guarantee if you would remove the plastic cover.
Secondly, you may damage or break this, and I think that that's not worth a risk.

If I was you, I'd spend low and ask a technician for assistance.

  • 6 envy: envy defective hinges

I bought a portable Envy Touch 15 months ago (3 months warranty) the hinge is defective and cracks and splits from the bottom panel whenever I open the screen. I've already sent it to repair a few months after I bought it. But then it breaks again... and again. The product is clearly defective. Many others complained about this, as well.  HP customer service is a joke; It seems that, once expired warranty can happen to anyone. I am a lawyer and look forward to sue HP for the product liability. But in the meantime, anyone know the best way to solve the problem of hinge? is there a secret way to actually reach someone at HP? A place you can recommend take it to be repaired?

    Thanks for any help!

It is mainly the right hinge but the left is showing signs of that also. could you please tell what you, or else I can do about it because it's obviously a design flaw that was never really given on.

  • M7-j020dx Touch Smart 17 envy: left hinge problem m7-j020dx want.

When I open the laptop now, the left back of the low box (below the left hinge) breaks down as the screen is high in a viewing position. I have to press the back of the left side of the bottom of the case and the top of the case to get the left rear of the closed box. When I drop the screen, the left rear of the case is falling apart and stay outside until the screen is closed. I am able to close the left rear of the case by pressing the up and down of the left rear of the case together. The right hinge and the back of the right side of the case do not have this problem. This problem started today. I have pictures smartphone that I can send if necessary. The notebook and the screen is operational. Just do not know what is happening with the left hinge to force the case apart on the back left side of the front panel.

  • G7-1358DX - broken hinge

Laptop friendly... except... hinge of the screen has decided to break... actually look down into the Pocket, something else may be violating.

We have two of them, and I wonder if this will happen with the other, so my question is, can I trouble myself, or just plan on throwing the laptop and find one with a less prone to rupture hinge?

    Thank you, Bill

Thanks for the link, after a brief conversation of... it is out of warranty, we cannot help, buy a new printer HP... I went out and bought two new laptops. (not HP)... who do not have this problem (at least there no mention of the failure of the hinge on their forums.)

  • Need to hinge under battery for my laptop Satellite

    Hello

A broken metal hinge under the battery, but I can't yet find a reference number / name for it. "Hinges" just find those for visible screen when the screen is in place.
Anyone know what this is called, how to replace and / or how does break?

    Hello

What model of laptop do you have exactly?
Problem is that these parts are not easy to buy or order on the net and for more information you can contact the nearest Toshiba authorized service provider.

  • Satellite L50-B-1LN - broken screen hinge

    Hi all

November last year they gave me a L50 B 1LN Satellite to the DSO at my University to help dyslexia as I had never really owned a decent laptop.

Since then, I have the Treaty with great care, so you can imagine that I was not too happy when the right hinge connecting the screen and the body became stiff a few weeks ago.

At the point where I do not think that anything of it think it is would have something taken there will be evicted over time.
This was not the case, however, I discovered a few days back, part of the inner metal structure of the screen had been bending broke now and is now coming out behind the screen, as the force to break has removed some of the envelope made of plastic.

The laptop is less than a year so I'm disappointed that equipment broke in a way, it is designed to be opened and closed! The wire on the screen is now exposed, so I want this to be resolved sooner rather than later.
Apart from this, the laptop is fully functional and in good condition.

Since then, I tried to find an appropriate on the Toshiba site number but had no success, I can't turn in circles, and I'm not really sure of what to do next.

My provider is not any string like world of Curry or PC, so I can't exactly take it there.

Any advice on how to go on this matter would be appreciated.

I have attached some pictures of the damage.

    Thank you

    Cameron

In the event of hardware problems, the authorized Toshiba maintainer in your country would be the next point of contact.

This problem is the internal displays of laptops have become larger and the size of the smallest laptop.
The laptop has small hinges of the screen so all the force is applied on a very small area causing the plastic cover the cracks.
