Hive 1.4?

Someone at - he heard of hive 1.4? Some of the documents/whitepapers lists 1.4 as the current version, but what I have seen so far with a 1.4 version is downloading from the beekeeper. I hope that this will help 10.2.0.4 DB so I don't have to build another DB server just to accommodate the hive.

Hive 1.4 is now available on edelivery.oracle.com.

If the Windows registry is slightly or moderately damaged, you may be able to restart the computer in safe mode and use system restore to restore the registry from the computer to the last known good configuration. However, if the Windows registry is seriously damaged, all types of logon will be prevented. Trying to connect to Windows causes the system fails, then restart. In this case, you will need to boot the system into the recovery instead of Windows Console. Once in the Recovery Console, you can use the Startup Repair tool. Startup Repair tool automates common diagnostic and repair of the installations of Windows tasks starts longer.

    Hey Chris,

Thank you for visiting the Windows Xp forum

I was wondering if you run a retail or OEM of Windows version. If you are using an OEM version of windows, you will need to use the recovery options you have from the manufacturer of your computer. If you run a commercial version, feel free to follow the article in the knowledge base you have found.

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/307545 how to recover a corrupted registry

I was also wondering if you have another computer to work? If so and you feel comfortable or know someone who can remove the hard drive from the computer and connect it to another computer. You can view the disk hard kit to join. Once the hard drive is connected, you can go in my computer and copy all the files to another hard disk.

It's a pretty popular mistake these days and sometimes easy to get running, but you also want to figure out how it happened.  I always suspect Symantec/Norton products with this error, but we'll see.

    Other variants are:

I would start with a chkdsk/r since the recovery CD of Console you make (see below) and please answer a few questions...

Maybe someday the dialog box 'ask a question' forums XP will ask these questions automatically when a new thread is started so I don't have to ask every time.  It might even be possible to solve a problem in a single response when enough information is provided.

Please provide additional information on your system:

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a CD/DVD drive work?

You have a true bootable XP installation CD (it is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

Fill in the blank: my system was working fine until this happened: _.

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that may have come to a store to purchase the system.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

Do, or do not. There is no test.

  • Check the file system on C or registry cannont load the hive!

Ok... I have a Dell Vostro 1510... all of a sudden, I can't on this laptop!  I have Windows XP Professional.  It lights up when I choose to start windows... I am said to be:

    Checking file system on c:

The type of the file system is NTFS.

    Volume label is System.

Then, when it starts to run it says: CHKDSK checks the files (step 1 of 3)... it happens to 47% finished and that's all!  It won't do anything else, it just stops!

If I have to cancel the verification file system I get this message:

    STOP: c0000218 {Registry file failure}

The registry cannot load the hive (file):

    \SystemRoot\System32\Config\System

    or its log or alternation.

It is damaged, missing, or not accessible in writing.

I do not have the disks provided with the laptop or I will say that I can not find them... I read a lot of these forums but none I saw helps me!  Because I can not enter and try to run anything!

Thanks for any help in advance!

I see you mentioned do not have all the disks with the laptop and maybe it's that he came not with any, because the installation files are likely in a hidden partition.
but try to borrow a winxp cd and boot with it.
then in the window settings pitch repair to start the recovery console.
then at the prompt of disk, run the following >:

    Chkdsk /r
    Chkdsk /f

then exit, remove the cd and restart the computer.

the above commands are redundant, but nothing wrong with double controls.

In addition, if you receive a following error on boot sector, then run via the recovery console fixmbr.

    Hello MTK1988,

If we are still having problems with the Software hive, let's try the following:

    1. Start to repair the system and choose command line.
    2. Type the following commands:
    3. z:
    4. cd\windows\system32\config
    5. Ren software software.old
    6. ren system system.old
    7. Regback CD
    8. Copy the software z:\windows\system32\config
    9. copy the z:\windows\system32\config system
    10. Reboot and see if we are able to start Windows.

Please note that if there is no directory regback, we should type the following:

    • Ren software software.old
    • ren system.old system.

Let us know if that helps.

    Best regards

  • Letter of changed but diving system hive has the correct registration?

So my problem starts I think when I think that after updates, she needed a restart, but I just shut down my computer normally, completely forgetting the updates.

At the start, everything seemed normal but I couldn't connect, I was stuck on an endless loop of 'welcome' (the just kept spiral cursur spinning) and then after the reapir on startup mode via pressing f8 I realized my windows partition drive letter was changed, so after looking around a bit on this forum I found this :

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7repair/thread/2180b9e6-c2ff-4421-bb06-fcb99e7e2021

When a similar problem that occurred with the drive being exchanged letters, so I followed the instructions to fix it through the registry via the command prompt to the repair mode, import the system hive to system32/config/and then change the 'system' hive drive letters around for good, but my real hive file system (system32/config/system) seems to have drive letters the right way around , and the system hive is preloaded when you open the register has them completely reverse (also introduced completely new letters that I have not yet used/assigned before).

So my problem is windows without going through the system hive in the config and loading other it elsewhere (the Beehive system preloaded when you open the registry)? or I'm doing something wrong: S

Thanks in advance for your help guys :)

Don't worry, I've managed to fix.

I just crossed yet the comand prompt in vista recovery and used diskpart.exe is an internal drive management utility used by windows and then changed the letters of volume there and made sure in the register of letters, where also successfully changed and then ran a diskcheck using attributes of/f/r so ' chkdsk/f/r' and it fixed.

I'm now going to back up my computer and it defrag jjust wrap: P
