Filtering in noisy AI Circuit

Hi all

I use an acquisition of data NOR-9205 Compact module to monitor several lines of pressure.  I have the pressure transducers connected to DAQ module via more that 50' cable not shielded by line.  There are a few noisy components in the test set-up, a bunch of heat automatic start/stop function and a spark igniter.  These two elements to cause large amounts of lag in my readings of pressure.

I'll immediately shielded control cable, and I go to wire to cut my cable lengths down to ~ 20' each.  Is there anything else I should do to protect the transducers of noise?  Should I connect the cable shield to the ground on both sides of the cable?  Sorry to be a such gumby here, but as you can see, I am an EE.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Use a shielded twisted pair, the shield of the Earth at one end only. By using a configuration of the inputs analog differential can reduce the effects of noise too.

Keep far from other signal cable if possible, if she crosses paths with other 'loud' cables, cross at 90 degrees where they intersect.

With the help of wiring for the heating and the etinceleur or metal tanks same earthing can't hurt either, if this is possible.

  • photodiode of reading with USB-6009

I'm reading the voltage output of a photodiode using the analog inputs on a USB DAQ 6009 of Labview.  I am able to read the voltage of the batteries using data acquisition, but when the photodiode is connected with the acquisition of data, I get a noisy signal (see photo).  The photodiode works fine when I connect a voltmeter (voltage response IE with light).

This could be a problem of air conditioning or impedace signals between DAQ and photodiode (attached sheet).

    Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thank you

You can also consider your signal filtering if there are too many 60 Hz noise.  You can put a simple filtering on the input circuit or use one of the many digital filters applied to your data shipped with labview.  This could help depending on the nature of the desired signal (pulse of IE, DC, curves of decomposition...)

  • filtering

    Hi all

I have a set of data (table 1 d with a value of 500) and I use the basic filter of the LV (smootihing with average mobile, rectangular, half width = 1) for smoothing noisy data. As you can see in the photo, the curve smoothed red seems to offset 2 pixels with respect to the original blank data. If I take the difference btw the original and the filtered data in the measurement of noise (green curve), then it will be exaggerated due to this change. You can write code to compensate for this, but I wonder if there is a way to correct it in LV also, what are the causes exactly this change?

The second photo shows the sub vi to do filtering, etc.

    Thank you!

The moving average of smoothing itself is a low pass filter. Like any digital filter, it has the answer. Don't forget, phase in nature is the delay in time. There are some filters with zero delay/linear delay but apparently the smoothing filter isn't one of them. When you configure the filter, transfer function Select display mode, you can find the answer in the second chart. Notice that it has a non zero delay to phase in most frequencies.

You can also increase the width of the filter and you should be able to watch the delay increases as well. So, not much you can do with it other that realign the signal after filtering if you wish.

  • trip data filtering

Hello, dear comrades! I am facing a problem like a novice in data acquisition: there is a test bench which consists, apart from all the rest, two displacement sensors, acquiring data from the displacement of the rotor over time. the data that I get is loud, so I had to filter it. I'm using butterworth topology of a filter and a default break break high-frequency and low startup parameters. It's a bandstop filter because I checked the signal in the frequency domain and found the noise bandwidth. a few words on the subject: there is a metallic cyllinder, I use to test the sensors. so, when I don't move the object, the sensor shows a straight line, which means that the signal that I need a frequency 0. This means that any change in the frequency domain would indicate the frequency of the noise. I discovered that it is between 4000 and 4250 apprx. but no matter how, I tried the signal would not be filtered. the fact is when I send no dynamic data (lol-orange line) to the waveform on the filter it shows ok but the signal does not change over real time. so, I built a waveform taking into account features such as t0, dt of a form of initial wave, but after that I got an even more noisy data. It might be ive been trying to solve the problem for too long, I stuck to some obvious point, but I don't have any ideas, any help would be appreciated. Thank you very much!

    Here we go...

  • Detect a noisy signal

    Hi all

That is the most effective method to differentiate a noisy signal of normal. The application receives signals and it should be able to determine if the signal is disturbed or not pragmatic. There also a value of threshold for spikes in noise that it must consider.

Thanks for your time in advance.

    Concerning

    IB...

I agree that the answer depends on what your signal looks like, but it wouldn't be difficult to determine if a signal is noisy. If your signal of interest is sinusoidal, you could do a FFT, then threshold levels other than your target, as a basis for comparison of noise signal. It is quite effective. If you have something that changes a little, like audio or data, here again, you might look at the spectrum, but look outside a frequency band and not only a single frequency. If you have a reference signal, you could subtract the received signal reference signal and the result would be your noise and you could measure it. This all happens to determine the quality of the signal, using filtering will help you clean it up, but not tell you how noisy, it is first of all.

    Hope that helps.

  • Questions about circuit RC phase difference (possible timing problem)

    Hello

Here is the program that I use to measure the phase difference in an RC circuit. Simply generate a sine wave of 2 kHz in LabView and send it to the circuit using an analog output. Then I measure the exit sinusoid using an analog output. I also measure using n oscilliscope. I can clearly measure the difference in phase with the oscilliscope and know that it is about 1.4 radians.

    Problems with the program:
Phase difference different measured each time the program is run for the circuit. It is never as good.

    Possible causes:

You will notice by looking at the vi that I measure the phase from the signal generator. Can I use a second analog input to measure the sine wave, as it came out at the beginning of the circuit?

I think it's a timing issue. While the phase difference is constant each time the program varies each track. So the time that each measurement of tone starts its first measure seems to be different every time and causes this reading of different phase.

The card that I use is a PCI-6221, is there a timing problem associated with switch for input and output audio acquistion or are they separated.

Is anyway to ensure that two key measures measure phase at the same point in the (real) time?

I would really advice or changes to the program - could someone offer me (I am a student and LabVIEW is not on our program so I have no support, but I use it for my project (OH!))

I would certainly acquire two signals.  Food for the analog output right back into an analog input, then your signals filtered in another.

Initially, I would feed the two analog inputs of the analog output and measure the delay in phase due to the multiplexed A/D on map.  Once you have this measure, you can feed in the filtered signal and then measure the difference of phase of this signal.

  • My fan on the desktop is constantly noisy

    How can I stop it?

    Fan housing or cpu fan?

-With case fans, sometimes of the main, or similar fan power, can fall into the path of the blades

    and make the noise.

If it is due to a wrong direction, you need a new fan.

CPU fans can be quite noisy at full speed. If it is the cpu fan. It is likely to hit max speed due to the cpu running more hot as before, or if the computer is new or recent, fan speed profile may have a curve too little, which can translate into the speed of the fan bike up and down frequently if the cpu is often at full load.

-This can be solved with software that allows you to establish a new fan so speed curve

the fan runs a bit faster from the start.

Your machine may already have a program that allows you to set the fan speed.

-Even with a stiffer fan speed curve, a large number of cpu coolers are just loud and clear to the speed.

Good aftermarket coolers are quieter and keep the cpu cooler, but require expertise for installation.

-If the machine is not new it may need just dust, cleaned the filters of case fan and

    CPU cooler radiator fins.

A can of compressed air can be used on the fins of the cpu cooler, but care must ensure not to blow

dust in the RAM or slots for graphics cards (better just to remove the RAM and graphics if the machine an and after having cleaned the cpu cooler, also clean the slots before replacing the RAM and card).

-A small brush can also be used, but usually requires removal of the fan for the CPU cooler

to clean the fins properly. If there is a graphics card, it is easier to clean if you remove it from the machine.

  • USB disabled after the update of the Sierra (a short circuit and a work)

Hi, when I bought my mbp 13 inches mid2012 (used, not new) I noticed that a USB port did not work. In the Yosemite sometimes I noticed that a USB port consumed too much energy and have been disabled. (I think because the usb port has been short-circuited. Year when it was time to update the mbp to El Capitan I had a few panic the kernel and the newspaper was shown as the last driver loaded the USB driver, so I kept the mbp with Yosemite. A few days ago, I updated for Sierra but only usb which used to work stopped working. It has enabled and turned on but Finder and disk utility does not see the drive. In an Apple dealer they said that could be established relationships with some oxide and next week will take it and see what the problem is.

  • iPhone 7 creation of a circuit when on a dock

Here's a weird one for you...

I just got my iPhone 7, and everything of fine. What is strange is that when he's on the dock (one official apple) and connected to a power supply, the back of the phone vibrates as I slide a finger or fingers (I tried with 3) top. This does not reach the screen and doesn't happen if I also touch the metal casing with a finger of the other hand at the same time. I guess I'm creating a circuit which is triggering the haptic motor which works only when it is connected to the power? It's strange. I even if it was defective at first, thinking he was going to vibrate a little all the time is on the dock, but realized that happens when I touch and move my fingers softly through the body.

Can any who else reproduce it, or is mine just special?

It's something because he does, if I touch it with both hands, to complete the circuit, and it only when not connected to the electric/static.

Just it takes off from the wharf, used another socket, USB plug and cable lighting. Put the phone on the couch face and ran my finger on it... doing the same thing! My wife came in one I tried. Done here also. I touch it with his index finger on his left hand and run his right index finger to the back, and he has ceased to be. Once she took her left index finger he started to do it again.

The vibration feels stronger at the top of the phone.

We had Antennagate, now Vibratorgate! Laughing out loud

I discovered that when you reach 8 different filters on a worksheet, the option to add a new filter gets grayed out.

Is it possible to increase this number?

    Ooops... It looked better before.

Found this: Re: filter limit or bug?

There's a nice solution to the inside, whereas it is sad because of the capabilities of computers (RAM and processors), we cannot use more than 8 filters at the same time...

Maybe for future issues of update...

Hello and welcome to Apple support communities, Martjenko.

It seems that you have some questions about junk mail filtering in the Mail application on your MacBook Air. I know from personal experience that it can be quite tedious to sort task and delete unwanted email box, but no worries, I'm happy to help you resolve this issue.

To answer your question, Yes, there are filters in Mac OS X Mail that you can use with your email accounts to filter spam. Mail is designed to do this automatically. Use bandages below for steps on reducing spam in the Mail application, and help with what to do if junk mail filters do not work properly.

  • Links e-mail and filters - the wish list items?

Compose an e-mail containing a link does not support stable link until the message is saved or sent to the car. This limitation is known to be intentional in the documentation. However, in the good old Eudora, press a hot key while clicking on a link in an email being composed active link for the optional test right then and there. Saving time very practical.

Filtering of incoming emails via Tools/Message filters works, but requires many unnecessary steps to create a new filter. In good old Eudora, with an open incoming email or in the preview pane, the mouse option to 'Make the filter' opens a filter window using the e-mail address to propose the filter to use or replace, options that ends with a "Create filter" button. So the first time, you get an e-mail from a friend who deserves a filter allows you to filter all future emails boyfriend as you like - while reading that first email in the mate. Tremendous work saver and eliminates the need to remember the process of creating filter separated necessary in T-Bird.

I'm a new user, so please let me know if I missed some useful options. Also I would like to know if it is a list of wishes that would be better directed elsewhere. Thank you!

'Dead links' are a basic 'feature' of the Thunderbird editor and is not likely to change anytime soon.

You can right click on an email address in the message header pane and choose "create filter from. This will start the construction of a filter with 'Sender' "is" and informed selected e-mail address.

An add-on, QuickFilters, introduced a process of construction of drag-and-drop filter.
