Homekit Automation

In the new House on iOS10 application, you can share your Home settings with others.  You can share the automation as well?  For example I am not all lights turn off when I leave, but my family is still home?  Can we presence (via iPhones out there) to ensure that the lights don't go out.

When I look here Home app on device the automation tab is not there.

No, you can't share the automatisms. I believe that the idea behind this is that Automation are personal and unique to each user and the device are not part of the appropriate thing.

As if info presence is available to prevent some automation to run when other people are always home. It seems that it is not yet available.

  • How to configure automation with Apple TV, Homekit and Hue

I have what I believe should be a viable home automation installation: a new brand (4th generation, Sept. 16) Apple TV, a hub of hue with the support of Homekit and seven lights attached via the hub.  The lights appear in the home iPad app and can be enabled or disabled here.  I can also do things with Siri on the Apple TV as "turn one room family", and have the appropriate lights.  Thus, it seems that everything works.

BUT: when I go to the tab "Automation" in the app iPad Home, all I get is a page telling me that I should get an Apple TV to put in place of the automated activities - there is no way to actually DO something.  Am I missing something obvious?  I do this also?  Don't forget that I can control the lights in the House on the iPad, so they certainly know each other...  Thank you!

Looks like you are unable to configure Automation with your Apple TV. I would check that you have everything set up correctly with the steps described in this article:

Automate and remotely to your accessories HomeKit

If everything looks OK, then use the section 'Get help with your home hub' down. Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

  • Automation not triggering Homekit

I'm really loving the new application Homekit in iOS 10. I think it is much better than the app of hue of Philips I used to control my lights at home. However there seems to be something wrong with the function of automation. Or if Miss me just something, in this case, I'd appreciate any help I can get.

    My configuration is:

    • 4th gen Apple TV acting as a hup homekit
    • 1 Philips Hue bridge
    • 4 white tinted Philips bulbs
    • 1 Philips Lightstrip of Hue
    • 1 iPhone and 1 iPad Mini using Homekit app to set scenes

I have several scenes set up and using automation functionality, I use the following schedule

    • Good morning - All 4 white bulbs and lightstrip on at 05:30
    • Lights - all the lights from 08:45
    • Afternoon - all 4 white bulbs and lightstrip on at 14:30
    • Evening - 3 white and lightstrip bulbs on at 19:00
    • Good morning - all lights except lightstrip off at 22:30

The problem is that the timers don't always trigger. As far as I know, the afternoon lights, evening and good night controls work fine. But the automation of the morning never seems to trigger automatically. When I try to debug the morning and playing with time and wait and see, it will sometimes trigger, sometimes not. And then I wait again the next morning and it does not fire. I even put a light in 05:00, half an hour before good morning, to see if it helped, but it didn't.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to why automation in the morning won't turn on?

    Hi Arthur,.

I have the same problem as you. The triggers appear to respond inconsistently. The worst is the one from the Sun which is added when it is already dark. Apple should add the ability to take some time before the sun goes down. My Apple tv is always on and I also used an ipad as a hub. Have you found a solution since you post your question?

  • iOS 10 HomeKit Lock Automation

Why shares of automation for locks HomeKit in iOS 10 require user action to run? for example, a trigger to arrive at a situation pushes a notification to the user asking if you want to run the scene or not to unlock the lock. Kind of defeated the purpose of automation, it seems.

I think the reason is that a lock is a safety feature and he now wants verification that you are the user.

I noticed the same thing with my lock not unlock not until I selected ok in the notification Center and then had to connect to the iPhone to work the scene.

To test this theory, I created another trigger to run a scene when you leave an area. Set this trigger to run a scene that started a fire. It worked without any user interaction.

Only the trigger to run a scene using a safety device (lock door i.e.:a) would it not work until I logged in.

Its the same when you wake up your iPhone but do not you connect and go then drag until you reach the command center then swipe on to homekit and select props or scenes. Then you can run scenes not safety and trigger safety accessories not without logging in, but if you try to unlock/lock the lock it will ask you to log in first before execution.

It is logical, if someone gets your phone they could unlock your door if they had not implemented this feature. Under iOS9, it was different. The trigger to run the scene automatically without user intervention.

That's what I understood from my tests.

  • Why ios homekit 10 automation of location ask run and not only run when I go home?

I have setup the location based automation open my door when I get home. However, my phone always ask me before his execution the scene I put in place... Why does it just run based on the location?

I completely agree - are we missing something?  I thought at first it was something that happened on the first go run an installation of automation, but it happens every time.

This isn't automation... it's just a command prompt.

  • Control Automation with Siri on Mac?

Control Automation with Siri on Mac?

I am aware that Siri on a Mac of Sierra does not yet support Apple HomeKit.

As another example illustrating Siri on a Mac is currently quite limited, it is not extensible by developers unlike Siri on iOS.

  • I can't turn off the automation in Touch ID & password settings

I am on iOS 10, on the iPhone 6.  There is a switch that starts to turn itself on after I turn off manually.

Under contact ID & password in the settings, there is a section called "allow access when locked. One of the lines that appears under Home Control (associated with HomeKit) there.  This is the switch has been set default to 'On', but I wanted to turn it off - I don't have/want everything home automation.  So I managed to get the cursor to turn off (very hard to get then move/stick for some reason any), and I can't see that it is set to off.  Yet if I go out and to return to this setting, it is auto-réactivé!  Why can not disable this option?  I suspect that it is a software bug.

Well, I realized the part of it.  This Home Control button will be wobbly and continually be reset until AFTER you try to start the application home again (which will require you to turn on ICloud to House to do).

Fact that forced initiation of enforcement of the House, then the entry of home automation under the section allow access when locked TouchID & password work really correctly (triggering the switch isn't more wobbly, and it remains the way it was worth).

But it must clearly be a software bug.  It makes no sense if you want not to activate/use controls Home automation (HomeKit), you really need to turn on then turn off all...

  • Homekit no longer works on Appletv 4 after tvOS updated

Before I could turn on the devices and turn off outside my network WiWFi as the ATV4 was the HomeKit connection. Now with all my devices on iOS10 and AppleTV updated to the new tvOS, I can no longer turn things works when I am outside my wifi network.

    Hi MulderDSM,

I understand that after updating to iOS 10, you no longer have remote control to your home devices. I know it's nice not to have to worry about leaving the lights on when you're gone, so I'm happy to help you.

It appears from your description, you must make sure that remote access is enabled for your account. This page displays more information on how to do it:

Automation and remote access - iPhone

Allow access remotely. Go to settings > iCloud, then light the fire. Make sure that you are logged in using the same Apple ID on all devices.

If you have an Apple TV using the same account iCloud as your iPhone, it will be automatically coupled and active for automation. To configure iPad for automation, see the chapter of the House of iPad User Guide.

  • Homekit remote access does not

    Hello.

I have a Schlage door sense block 100% functional when connected by bluetooth with my iphone (ios 10) either when I m with the sense or Homekit app it management.

The problem starts when I try to work remotely.

    Yes:

    (1) my 3rd generation Apple TV (Maj) is connected with the same iCloud account that I use in my other devices, including my iPhone

    (2) Apple TV shows as 'connected' when I check my hub within the Homekit app status

    (3) Apple TV is "always on."

    (4) I tried to connect a disconnect in icloud again several times.

    Need help please!

I chose this lock exclusively to access remote homekit.

    Thank you!

It seems that the fault is in schlage's recent firmware update.  They have posted the following on their web site about seven 18, 2016:

Some clients of Schlage sense suffered a loss of access remotely through the 3rd generation Apple TV after update of their lock to the version of the firmware 3.42.

We are aware of the problem and are working quickly to resolve.

In the meantime, you can learn more details about how to set up an Apple TV and iPad for remote access and automation of your Schlage lock and other accessories HomeKit.

  • Homekit missing parameters

I recently bought a few lights of hue and the new hue Bridge 2.0 (HomeKit Compatible)

I am running iOS 10 on my iPhone 6 s and the latest version of tvOS (9.3.3) on a new 4th generation Apple TV.

The new home app works correctly, which allows direct control from lights.  Apple TV works fine for the tasks of automation that have been configured in the application of the House.

However, I am not able to connect to my lights when I'm not connected to the local WiFi network.

Reading the various forums, there should be a HomeKit element in the application of the main parameters and an option to reset the HomeKit configuration in the privacy settings.

Two of these elements are missing on my phone.  I have the factory to reset my phone and used an alternative iCloud account and settings appear, to go again when I have to reconnect my own iCloud account.

When I login with another account HomeKit appears in the first picture under settings, and the ability to reset the HomeKit configuration appears in the second.

The only information I can find suggests turning on/off, no change keychain.  I also have factory reset the AppleTV, the problem persists.

My guess is that my data HomeKit has been corrupted in my account iCloud, without the reset option I am rather stuck.

Any ideas to fix this would be appreciated!

  • shutters control home automation

I want to renovate my metal, electric shutters.  at the present time, I have a button for opening and closing on the wall.  I am in a country of 220 volts.

Does anyone know of a remotely controllable rehabilitation project (through it Mac?) switching system?

Thank you.  (hope this is the right forum to post this)

There are several different home automation standards.

    • Apple HomeKit - then that controlled by Apple is open for use by other manufacturers
    • Z - Wave - independent standard
    • ZigBee - mainly used to control the lights
    • ioHomeControl - rare
    • X 10-very old travels the power cables

and then there are some owners including systems

    • Crestron
    • Control4
    • Samsung Smarthings
    • INSTEON

which can be linked to various other products

There is Mac software for some of them and iOS apps for most of them. From a perspective of Mac, take a look at https://www.indigodomo.com/

But, you are probably better off watching iOS apps, you might even wall mount an iPad and use it as a controller. You could also use an open-source solution and control via a web browser, some people do with a Pi raspberry running Linux and equipped with a software module and Z-Wave as a OpenHAB race.

I look at using Samsung Smartthings to control various other systems, Smartthings as standard can control Z-Wave and Zigbee devices. There are several controllers for wheelchairs/roller shutters using the Z-Wave standard, which means that you can use one of people with Smartthings. Also from Indigo supports both the Z-Wave he too could control a rolling Z-Wave/component.

Note: Z-Wave uses radio frequencies different in the USA vs Europe so make sure you get the right products for your location.

  • Two Apple TV with HomeKit

I was interested by the HomeKit implementation for home automation other products continue to be released. I currently have 2 Gen3 AppleTV. My question is, having two apple TV to expand bluetooth for some devices? My apple TV are on opposite sides of the House and I read people complain on problems of the range. Having both would be able to push the bluetooth off the coast of one or the other?

Some HomeKit devices are wifi, while others are Bluetooth control.  Only those that are Bluetooth control must be close to the hub of the ATV and then it comes down to the limitation of Bluetooth technology on how far the ATV devices must reside.  In general, it comes to 32feet.  I have several ATVS in my residence for control homekit - they need to be within 32 feet of the ATC, the locks are Bluetooth.  However, I have lights, garage, cameras etc. which are ordered wifi as well as the location in relation to the ATV is of no consequence...

  • Automator leave all

I want a script to close all open applications and empty the trash.

    Applications and Finder behave differently.

Automator "Utilities" options appear the best result, so I'm focused there.

I am able to stop all applications, but the Finder is stubborn

I can close the Finder components as a group within Automator, but combining this group with the group "Close all Applications" The Automator scripts fails to close the components Finder (Finder, Get info and inspector window).

Here's what I have so far.

Group 1: on his own closing everything except the Finder stuff.

    Utilities > quit all applications

    Quit all applications

Group 2: this group works well.

    Utilities > run AppleScript

    the term {parameters}

    Tell application "Finder".

    empty the trash

    tell the end

    delay 1

    Back entrance

    end of race

Group 3: run on its own that works, but not with "quit all Applications.

    Utilities > run AppleScript

    the term {parameters}

    Tell application "Finder".

    activate

    quit smoking

    delay 3

    Tell application "Finder".

    activate

    tell the end

    tell the end

    Back entrance

    end of race

Group 4: it works on its own for Finder stuff, but does not work with other groups.

    Utilities > run Script Shell

    CAT

osascript-e 'tell application "Finder" to quit smoking.

I noticed that sometimes the AppleScript works, and a second later it stops working.

For now, I found a way to make it work. Automator works great Finder asking you to empty the trash. Then I dropped the trash from Group 2 to group 4, the bottom of the collection of Automator. Now it works... for now...

Group 1: Utilities > quit all applications

    Quit all applications

Group 2: Utilities > run AppleScript

    the term {parameters}

    Tell application "Finder".

    activate

    quit smoking

    delay 3

    Tell application "Finder".

    activate

    tell the end

    tell the end

    Back entrance

    end of race

Group 3: Utilities > run Script Shell

    CAT

osascript-e 'tell application "Finder" to quit smoking.

Group 4: Utilities > run AppleScript

    the term {parameters}

    Tell application "Finder".

    empty the trash

    tell the end

    delay 1

    Back entrance

    end of race

If anyone knows why this command works, an explanation would be appreciated.

  • Apple Homekit - German Version

    Hello

I installed Apple Homekit Homebridge running on ios 10.0.2. It works great so far. There is just something wrong with the spelling of contact sensors, indicating the status of the doors. If the door is closed, it says "closed". It's true in German.

But if the sensor is open, it says "Öffnen". It is a verb in German, which means like to open. It would be good, if you say 'Open' or 'Offen '. It would be the adjectiv of the word and should be.

It is not a big bug, but a bit boring.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Sincerely yours

    Michael

  • HomeKit Setup with OLD Apple ID

I have installed just a few lights Phillips Hue with HomeKit (No Apple TV). Just my iPhone, an echo of the Amazon and the hue of Phillips and Home Apple app.

When I went to share access with Apple ID of my wife, he showed him there was a request from an old account of mine iCloud.com which has not been used over the years and is not in use now. Why it does not recognize my Gmail iCloud account, which is what I am connected to my phone.

Is the iCloud iCloud.com older account in the backend = Gmail account?

Sounds like when you have joined an Apple ID, you did back in the day with a Gmail address, which isn't a big deal.  I'm in the same boat and many other institutions.

It can show the Gmail email address as you may be signed in somewhere with him.

To be sure, go here https://appleid.apple.com
