Host has no redundancy management network but it doesn't...

Hi all

Does anyone know if the host 5.0.0,469512 ESX configuration now requires two network adapters are associated with on Vswitch0 for redundancy of the network management?

I created a separate console on a separate subnet vSwitch, attached to a separate physical network adapter on a separate switch, this can be contacted via TCP/IP and can evacuate in penetration.

The features of network working on this interface.

Use for network management is checked, and that's it for the vSwitch.

It is using frames marked for the network in question and has thus a vlan id as it should.

But I still get the warning, according to the article of VMware http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/documentLinkInt.do?micrositeID= & popup = true & languageId = & externalID = 1002641 I only need to configure:

Solution

To resolve this problem, you can configure a console of additional service for redundancy. Have an additional service on a separate vSwitch console, linked to a different vmnic which is attached to a different physical switch, ensure that VMware HA does not power off virtual machines if the base of the console service network goes down. If the failure of the primary service console network, it continues operating using the second service console.

This has worked well for me in 4.1 and 4.0, but does not seem to make the warning go away in 5.0. The questions are. I have something configured incorrectly? 5.0.0 WARNING only disappears if you have a Nic team on the main service console management vSwitch? Or is this a bug?

Any information would be very useful.

Hit "reconfigure HA" on the host?

Have how to remove the notice from the host "how to remove has no redundant network management" console service without creating a two SC?

Simple, you can add a new NIC in SC vSwitch

Or select VMware HA, and then click Advanced Options on the side bottom right

Add the following code as an option line 'das.ignoreRedundantNetWarning' and the value 'True '.

    Then of course click ok...

  • That errro again... host currently has no error management network redundancy

I don't get the "host currently has no error management network redundancy.

I think that I have the correct configuration, but not sure since our network guys gave me the IP addresses to use for HA.

Here is the config for HA

    ESX Server 6.

Service console is on 0 to 172.16.1.106 in 255.255.0.0 vSwitch

The second redundancy console) is on vSwitch 4 to 77.77.77.10 in 255.255.255.0.

    ESX Server 5.

Service console is on vSwitch 4 to 172.16.1.105 in 255.255.0.0

The second redundancy console) is on vSwitch 4 to 77.77.77.9 in 255.255.255.0.

I've reconfigured HA on ESX Server 6 and ESX Server 5 and even restarted them but still not the mistake of redundancy...

    Something is not properly configured?

If the collection of network adapters offer the same functions of redundancy, so why so many articles point to using a second console HA redundancy?

It's simply the options given. There are several ways to provide a redundancy of HA heartbeat.

The article also indicates HA advanced features such as das.isolationaddress2 and das.failuredetectiontime will be charged when you set up a secondary service console. It is an approach more effective, but still more complicated?

These advanced options are not always available and also provide another way to configure HA redunancy.

  • No redundancy management network

    Hello!

I have a two-node cluster created to serve as hosts of the view; and both nodes are complaining that they do not have redundancy management network. Only... they have! They were identical to my VM upward three nodes, connected to the same blade switches and all. The Service console is on the same vSwitch kernel and VM Network and receives two network adapters, each with a blade separated with his own uplink switch. (two other network cards is dedicated to iSCSI.).

If two network adapters, two switches and two uplinks.

What gives? What redundancy more does want?

You have configured HA before configuring the redundancy?

In this case use 'reconfigure HA"on each node.

  • vCenter / vSphere Client - "..." terms has no redundancy management networ.

I'm a little confused here. I have 2 hosts in a cluster. The two hosts have 2 NIC assigned to the vSwitch where is the IP address of management but a question "Configuration"... show host

"Host gimp1.houseofpain.org currently has no management network redundancy.

The two hosts are configured the same, and all ports on both hosts (for the vSwitch) indicate link status upward with 1000 MB sync speed.

COP shows Port correct ID on both connections for two guests.

Anywhere else I need to check?

    Thank you

That's how it should be, I wanted to just make sure that it is not a simple configuration problem.

  • No redundancy of network management on some hosts since the upgrade to 175625

    Hi guys,.

I have a cluster of 5 servers and since their upgrade to patch 175625 I get a warning about 3 knots

that I have no redundancy management network. I find it a bit strange that my setup is the same

    on all hosts.

On each host, I have a group of ports of service attached to a teddy bear dedicated console.

I also have a vswitch for ISCSI containg service console and vmkernel port group, it has two network cards.

This effectively acts as a backup service console

When we went to ESX4 everything was still fresh. I started when we were connected to the 175625 canal, the funny thing is that this does not happen on all hosts.

I've attached a picture of the config, which is the same for all nodes.

    See you soon

Please consider my response as 'useful' or 'proper' marking

First of all make sure that ping works between each SC.

Then, you can try to reconfigure HA.

If it does not, use HA advanced option and try to force a test also on the SC secondo:

das.allowNetwork2 = Console of ISCSI Service

  • My laptop connects to the network but has no access to the internet.

I watched a lot of discussions about this problem and I tried methods in them, but still no go.

    Laptop Toshiba Satellite P300-061 / SP 2 / Vista Home x 64

I've been connected wireless with my laptop and my desktop (with an adapter) with no problems at this cottage for about 3 to 4 days.
Last night, I turned off the ability to laptops to detect the networks with the small button on the side, as I sometimes do.

I turn it back on today and the laptop detects the network, but it doesn't connect to the internet. If I have limited connectivity.
I restarted approximately 3 - 4 times and the laptop doesn't always connect. I am currently connected wirelessly on this network with my office and it works fine so that indicates that it is related to the laptop and not the router.  At first, I thought it might be a hardware problem, the laptop detects the network in the list, but it also detects the surrounding networks, which means that the wireless card works.

    Things I've tried so far.

1 netsh winsock reset / netsh int ipv4 reset
    2 ipconfig / renew & enough & / flushdns & / registerdns
    3 Rename the connection
    4 restart / complete closure
    5. deletion of the network in the list and return the password
    6 disabling ipv6
7 try to put the news in ipv4 manually, even though I'm not sure I did it correctly
    8 turn off the firewall
9 uninstalling the wireless card and reboot

  • move management network to another switch?

After you have created the cluster hosts, the hosts say there is no redundancy management network.

After that I configured hosts, I created three virtual switches in addition to vSwitch0. I used the 5 remaining env for the three other vSwitches.

Now I would like to pass the management network located on vSwitch0 to vSwitch1 and then move the NIC physical vSwitch0 vSwitch1 and then just Dump vSwitch0.   There is no other virtual machines that use vSwitch0, although there are many who use the other vSwitches

Is there a better way to do this?

    Thank you!

Now, I would like to move the management network located on vSwitch0 to vSwitch1

Is there a particular reason to move the management to vSwitch1 network? Or is it because of the warning message

the guests say there is no redundancy management network

This is the message which can be ignored if you want to remove the see message KB1004700

If you want to move the management network, I suggest to create a second management on vSwitch1 network, then remove networking on vSwitch0 and delete the uplink and add the binding rising vSwitch2

  • Slow network traffic / expires at ESXi4 host starting from a different subnet, but customers are very well

I set up a test server ESXi4 and spin various Windows 2003/XP clients and a guest of Vyatta VC5 as my core router.  This has been a strange problem that all traffic to the guests and also are very good, but I can handle only the host with the VI client on the same subnet.  If I can host on a different subnet (even if I leave the cable connected to the same port and vlan), then it becomes unusable.  Many things time out including just trying to download the VI client from the host https page.  Anyone seen this before?

I have 2 configured vSwitches, one on one vlan isolated to my iSCSI traffic to my storage, and the other as a trunk with the VLAN network management and guest vm on it.  My management network is in the same vlan as one of my comments to VLAN.

    Thanks in advance.

  • The Linux host, guest of WinXP, host has 2 network cards, how to choose which NETWORK adapter to use?

I know it's something of an FAQ, but several hours spent on these forums and Google search gave me nothing of what works.

All the solutions I've seen assume Windows as host and (something) as a guest.

In my case, the host is Linux (CentOS 6.4) and invited is Windows XP.

The host has two network cards, one on a 10.x.x.x network and the other on 192.168.x.x network.  In the guest virtual network adapter connects to the network 10.x.x.x.  I want it on 192.168.x.x network.

I would be happy if I added another virtual network card and one of them connected to each network, but two of them connect to the 10.x.x.x network (with 10.x.x.x different IP numbers).

The solutions I've seen indicate that under the Virtual Machine-> network adapter settings-> network connection, you click on the button "Configure the adapter" and load of come from there.  It would be great, but I have no button "Configure the adapter" or something like that.  I have a button "Advanced", but that just allows me traffic into and out of the butterfly and set a new MAC address, that's all.

Because the host is Linux, I have also no equivalent to vmnetcfg.exe, at least none that I can find.

So, where should I go from here?

VMware Player is the version 6.0.0 (freshly upgraded 5.0.2 this afternoon).  I tried with version 5.0.2 and got the same thing.

You will need to use the virtual network Editor, although first you may need to create symbolic links.

The first symbolic link already exist in a Terminal using the following command. Note: If connected a root the sudo command is not necessary when the.  Tip: Copy and paste the commands!

    ls-l/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-netcfg

If it exists, the output should be similar to the following.

    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 29 Sep 08:17 / usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware - netcfg->/usr/lib/vmware/bin/appLoader

At this point, you can simply use the following command to bring the virtual network Editor.

    sudo/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-netcfg

However, if you want easier access creates a symbolic link in: / usr/bin

    sudo ln-s/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-netcfg/usr/bin/vmware-netcfg

If the symbolic link/usr/bin/vmware-netcfg does not exist, then use the following command.

    sudo ln-s/usr/lib/vmware/bin/appLoader/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-netcfg

Then, to facilitate access to create a symbolic link in: / usr/bin

    sudo ln-s/usr/lib/vmware/bin/vmware-netcfg/usr/bin/vmware-netcfg

To bring up the virtual network in a Terminal editor use the following command.

    sudo vmware-netcfg

In the virtual network editor disable automatic bypass on vmnet0 by selecting the network map target in the bridge to: list box.

  • Virtual machines can ping throughout the network, but can't ping in them.

More in detail, we run ESXi 5.1 on our host servers. We then run a client vSphere on one of our client machines that can reach the host by a Cisco 3750 switch servers. So it is, machine client, Cisco switch, then the host servers. The server host has 2 network cards going to the switch. NIC0 goes to a trunk port, and NIC1 goes to an access port. In vSphere, we have created a virtual switch that has two physical network interface cards activated. For our management network, the VMKernel port, VLAN ID All we (4095), then we have NIC0 as the active map. Then we have a "Server" network, the Virtual Machine port group, with VLAN ID 30 (our vlan internal) with NIC1 as the active map. Once we have this, we can ping from our virtual servers to our default gateway, then anywhere else in the network, but nothing can ping the virtual machines. We tried to watch a traceroute to the VM, but all it shows is, VM NIC, default gateway, and then destination... Ask for more information if you need.

    Hi and welcome to communities,

What guest operating system are your current virtual machines to run? If it is windows server, it is a chance network discovery is simply disabled. This will diminish the ICMP packets and you may not their ping.

If the port of 3750 for NIC1 is configured as VLAN ID 30 trunk.

Your Portgroup is configured with VLAN ID 30.

Inside the guest virtual machines you did not indicate any configuration of VLAN, right?

  • Second NETWORK card takes over the management network

I have a lab of dev ESXI 5.5 on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with a dual port GbE NIC (Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708).

My basic configuration was a port of configured NIC (vmnic0) with a switch (vSwitch0) Standard.  vSwitch0 was a group of Virtual Machine (for VMS) ports and a VMkernel Port (for the management network).  Everything worked well at this point.

When I try to configure the second NIC (vmnic1) to a different network switch port and different to connect to iSCSI, network range vmnic1 took over the management network even if it does not show as being the management network.  After that, I'm more able to connect or ping the IP of vmnic0.

When you configure the vmnic1, I added connection Type of VMkernel.  I did not choose to use the port for traffic management group.

When I look at the console and choose to configure the management network I see only being vmnic0selected network adapter.

Am I misunderstood the management network configuration?  If not, does anyone have a suggestion on what may be wrong or how I can diagnose?

    Thank you for your comments!

I think I knew what was going on.

I had my VMkernel for networking (192.168.2.0/24) in a different subnet to the VMkernel for iscsi link port (192.168.1.0/24).  The problem was due to the existence of a network trace unidirectional from 192.168.1.0/24 to 192.168.2.0/24 (but not in the opposite direction). As stated in the post of the blog below and elsewhere, if there are two VMkernels in networks with a direct route, the esxi host will be simply choose one of the VMkernels to act as the management network (no matter if only one of the VMkernels has active network management).

I thought my networks did not have a direct route because of the impossibility (192.168.2.0/24) management network to communicate with the network of liaison port iscsi (192.168.1.0/24) but because the 192.168.1.0/24 network may route to 192.168.2.0/24, he made the two viable VMKernels to act as the point of view of the host management networks.

After that I moved the post iscsi binding to a switch with no network route, my problem has been resolved.

Re-reading the following is a blog post that helped me to understand my problem.

    http://blogs.VMware.com/kb/2013/02/challenges-with-multiple-VMkernel-ports-in-the-same-subnet.html

  • Management network on vswitch even as traffic of the vm?

Research on how our environment Vsphere has been configured and I noticed that they have the management network on the same vswitch because the traffic of the virtual machine. There are currently 2 connected network adapters this vswitch.

I know that the configuration is not recommended, I wonder if I should change and what the best way is to change it?

Move management traffic to a new vswitch or move the traffic of the virtual machine to a new vswitch? I have 2 more physical network card, so I can add an another vswitch with redundancy.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Kevin

It would be best to move the traffic of vm, simply because when you change your management traffic, literally creating a new interface vmkernel, and by assigning the gateways and which can lead to a decline in the connection.  Simply create a new vSwitch for traffic of the virtual machine, create a new portgroup and re - assign the virtual machine.

That being said, it is 'better' keep the two separate, but not a condition difficult.  If you have network cards, then this is definitely a "nice to have".
