Host is not responding

A host in a cluster 2 nodes is disconnected. I can ping and vms are works ok.

I can not connect via putty or using the console remote ILO.

I can't think of all the other options for the power cycle that's at this time and let HA do it's thing.

Unfortunately, most of the virtual machines in this small group are running on this host.

Any other ideas? Let go and see if she becomes sensitive?

JAL very good in theory, but difficult in practice.

I have a 3 host cluster.  One of the guests became unresponsive.  Continue to run all the virtual machines connected to the host is not responding and I can't RDP for them.  I am able to SSH to the host does not respond, but not connect via vCenter.

Restart the services will cancel the virtual machines running?  If this isn't the case, then what is the command to restart the services?

What is the best plan to manually migrate those virtual machines for the other two hosts?

SSH, cd to \usr\sbin, then run "services.sh restart" (without the quotes). Which will restart management services, with no impact to your VM. Then you should be able to re - connect with Vcenter.

  • ESX host is not responding

    Hello

    now, I have a problem.

    a customer has 3 blade IBM HS23.

because in the course of the last 7 months I had 4 times the host esx became offline / insensitive

all the vm continue to operate therefore continues to operate production

ESX host do not react on SSH connection or telnet

I can't connect to the vi to the ESX host client either.

all hosts are installed on the IBM's USB drive

the only thing to solve it is to off the blades and start again

also random sound. I had 3 months running good, good running 1 day and 3 weeks running good

the vpxd.log file displays only the waiting times to communicate with the esx host and then the error offline

already updated all my firmware (chasis, blades, storage, fiber brocade and IBM switches)

I started with vsphere 5.5 u1 U1 and ESXI 5.5 IBM. already updates on vsphere 5.5 U2 and 5.5 ESXi vmware u2 (since ibm doesn't have an ESXi custom 5.5 u2)

im stuck... lil last event is on 16/01/2015 (and ibm will not support since there only subscription for 3 years and no software support contract)

one last point, I'm under bacup veeam and 7.x replication but don't see a problem there.

I've restarted only iSCSI data store and all ESXi hosts becomes sensitive

so, after searching for the qnap forum I noticed that they have released an update on 29/01/2015

  • 5.0 ESXi hosts all say "not responding" after a while

    Hi all

First of all, yes I know this is a repetition of something that is posed before but I tried all the resolutions that I can find - nothing has worked so far.  In the vSphere client, all hosts currently have a status of "not responding". For reference, however, here is what I have tried/checked so far:

-vCenter and ESXi are all in evaluation mode.

-I do not use the brand HP ESXi ISO (as referenced by http://communities.vmware.com/message/1852500 more numerous other positions of the community).  Material * is * HP hardware, though.

-Change of the security policy of vCenter Server (as referenced by http://communities.vmware.com/thread/271809).

-Go through all checks VMware published listed in http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US & cmd = displayKC & externalId = 1003409.

-Network connectivity verified using PING, nslookup and telnet on port 902.  All ESXi hosts respond on port 902.

-AD DNS monitoring verifies that all say "Pass".

-There is no firewall on the network (it has physically isolated from everything, including the internet... obviously I am writing this post on another network).

-Direct connection to the ESXi hosts works very well - this only happens when connecting through vCenter (so running virtual machines are available and usable without any problem... There is no HA).

-/etc/VMware/VMware.LIC has a license of '0' key (confirms the status of the evaluation, I think).

    -/etc/vmware/vmware.lic mode is the following... - rw - T.

-All hosts are on the same version of ESXi.

-There is only 1 Server vCenter.

A strange thing is that some items, including VMware ones, say to run 'rpm' and 'service' in a variety of different ways.  'Rpm' or 'service' are valid commands on my ESXi servers.  This seems odd, unless ESXi 5.0 withdrew these commands to the shell.

Can anyone suggest anything else that might be the cause?

    Thank you!

If VC is virtual and the problem that happens on the same ESXi what they are and all on the same subnet, I am almost sure that something on your windows it blocks. Check the steps in KB http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1029919 to try to discover what is happening.

I could add a host, but after a short period of time (a few minutes) host all become the status "not responding".

restarting the management agents fix for a short period only.

directly linking hosts vSphere Client works very well.

There is a bug in HP ESXi5 ISO, see here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&tmp_geoLoc=true&docname=c03007056

    Hello riondet,.

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

How long did you receive these error messages?   Did you change your operating system before thses errors?  All new software/hardware installed or new Windows updates?

It seems that a dll is missing. You can fix it easily if you have a vista bootable disk.  Just boot from the disk and click on repair your computer and then click on start option repair and it will do the rest.

or, if the problem is not resolved, then insert the vista dvd and then open the command prompt as administrator, and then run the following command...

    C:\sfc scannow

    (2) try to do a restore to the point where the problem wasn't there:
Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore

  • Make sure your computer is not connected to a virtual private network (VPN) or wireless home another network of safe working when you use the printer on your network. See using printer with the virtual private network (VPN).
  • Check that your printer is not connected to the network trouble with the same name (routers with the same default SSID in your area). It is common for users to keep the value by default, out-of-box, SSID as the manufacturer provides (for example the linksys). If your router still has the default SSID, change the SSID under a new name specific to your router.
  • NOTE: updated to the latest version of the firmware of the printer and the software when prompted will help you have the most reliable connection possible. Go to www.kodak.com/go/aiodownloads.

  • ESXi host goes to the State and the virtual machine does not restart on other host does not

    Hi all

I'm looking for a solution, in which case the host goes to the State and the virtual machine on it does not restart on a different host (they'll just gray) does not not what could be the problem here and how to fix it

later when the failed host returns upward machines either go to motor off the coast of the State, or they show that under tension

While the host is down or not responding do not I am able to ping the host ESXi (5.5) and able to ping the default gateway and the DNS servers of the host itself

Yes AF, the answer to all these questions is Yes, it is a HA and DRS cluster active, I tried restarting mgmt service, we use a shared storage (storage iSCSI HP 3PAR and left hand)

  • Create array of IP addresses that do not respond to ping

I am an intermediate Powershell user, but having a little trouble wrapping my head around how to do it.

I have a powerCLI script that creates a number of virtual machines based on a variable, and I need to take it to the next level of intelligence:

    # Global Variables

    $vCenterServer = "vCenter.domain.com".

    $serverCluster = "cluster 02."

    $primaryDNS = "10.11.10.11".

    $secondaryDNS = "10.11.10.12".

    # Environment variables

    $jumpstartPool = get-resourcePool-name common - location $serverCluster

    $jumpstartCustomization = "newAutoSpec".

    $jumpstartCurrentTemplate = "template".

    $jumpstartDatastore = "data store".

    $jumpstartFolder = 'test '.

    $jumpstartPrefix = 'server '.

    $jumpstartSubnetMask = "255.255.255.0".

    $jumpstartGateway = "10.11.150.1".

    $jumpstartRange = "10.11.150".

    # The Variables de Configuration automation

    $vmCount = '2 '.

$ipArray = "need some help here.

    # Startup script

    Start-VM - $vmName VM - confirm: $false - RunAsync

    }

but the last piece I am trying to understand is the IP address table.  Here's what I want to do with it, see if anyone can help with thoughts on that.

    • Ping (or connect remotely) a range of IP addresses, in this case 10.11.150.10 - 10.11.150.250 and released those who fail a connection to a range of IP.  The goal is to use this to fill in the information of IP address for servers that are being created.

As a little more description here, maybe this contributes to possible scripting, I'm creating servers with the 3 last even as long as the last octet of the IP address.  Thus, the script will run, find IPS that are open (not ping response) and deploy servers model based on IP addresses.  For example, if 10.11.150.55 is crazy, does not, the script will deploy the server of server055 with the IP address of 10.11.150.55.

Thanks in advance for the help

Something like this will provide a table with IP addresses that do not respond.

    $array = 1.20 | % {'$192.168.1 _"}

    $freeIP = $array | %{

    If (!) () Test-Connection - ComputerName $_-count 1 - quiet - ErrorAction SilentlyContinue)) {}

    $_

    }

    }

    $freeIP

  • ESX host does not not in vcenter

    Nice day

I have two ESX 4 hosts in a cluster configuration, each running several virtual machines.  Yesterday afternoon, something happened to one of the hosts and now he is in a State of "not responding" in vcenter, and I can not ping to the host or the ping from the console of the host.  Fortunately the other host took over the failed host VMs for now.  The physical box that the failed host runs on seems to be fine, in addition to the switch between the two hosts.  From the ESX console on the failed host, the network configuration is correct, all network cards are up, so I don't know what I should check then.  Any ideas as to where the problem may be?

    Thank you very much!

    -Matt

If there is no virtual machines running on this host, you should try a reboot.  pass may have crashed.

  • "The update server is not responding"

I am a member of creative cloud and I'm trying to update Photoshop to 13.1 but whenever I go to help > updates, Adobe Application Manager keeps giving me "the update server is not responding...". »

I solved the problem. After countless times of updating of Windows 8, uninstalling and reinstalling, I found that my laptop Samsung came with software that would allow me to put a "Mobile Access Point" or in other words a hotspot.

I followed the instructions on how to disable the "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter", but my computer does not display a Miniport Microsoft Virtual Mifi card.

I knew that this adapter set a hotspot so what I did activate the 'Mobile Access Point"via the samsung software that came with my computer, and then as I expected, he showed the"Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter"and was able to turn it OFF.

After you turn off, I could see updates without the server update Responing no error.

Also, after having diabling the "Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter", I went to the Device Manager and the title of the network card, I found that "Microsoft Hosted network virtual card" has been disabled. So for those who don't see not the "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport card" you must activate a hotspot first if it will appear or try to disable through Device Manager by disabling "Microsoft Hosted network virtual card"

If this proves to be a problem with Adobe Application Manager and Microsoft Virtual Wifi adapter. I hope that Adobe will have a fix for this soon because the users of Windows 8 is not the "Microsoft Virtual Wifi Miniport Adapter" visible by default.

    I hope this helps someone!

  • Message "Not responding" when recording in CS5

Today, it is the first time that I had the chance to get out my new illustrator CS5 for a drive and have found that the more often than otherwise, when I save the file, I'm working on I get the error message "Not responding" appear. My system is a brand new Dell quad core, Q955-@ 2.83GHz with 8 GB RAM running Win7 64 bit.

The files that I use are located on a network drive, and I wonder if this may be the problem. If I let it go for a minute or two that he corrected himself, but I find it a bit odd, given the software and materials, that I am running.

    No idea where to start?

Given that disconnect him persistent mapped network drive, my problem went away. So far so good.

To clarify my question, I saw intermittently a message "Not responding" in the title bar of Adobe Illustrator CS5 when you try to save a drawing. By clicking on file/save would immediately show a wait cursor (blue circle in Windows 7) and the Save dialog box does not appear.

Although the error "not responding" appears, my PC does not seem to be busy doing anything (no use of the CPU for the executable to HAVE it in the Task Manager).

After some searching on Google for hung in Windows 7 when recording applications, I came across the following Microsoft link:

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/313937

According to Microsoft, Windows 7, when you save, first checks the availability of network resources (persistent mapped drives liked). Applications like MS Office may crash when you try to save if these network resources are not available. Windows 7 seems to also not 'hear' well with older versions of Windows (such as Windows 2000 for example). The guillotine registration number can also be caused by a slow network connection to network resources.

    In my case, I had:

1 - a slow link between the guillotine Windows 7 PC and a persistent (ie - reconnects when connecting) mapped network drive.

2 - the network drive is also hosted on a Windows 2000 Server (Windows 7 is not always play nice with Win2K)

After disabling the group policy that this drive mapped to the login time, my question GOT hooked disappeared. I can still reach the reader via a shortcut on the desktop of the PC Win7, and which seems to work very well. It is only when this resource has been "localized" as a shared drive that this become a problem for Windows 7.

Anyone having this problem should also verify the possibility of losing your network connection to a shared resource (as the network adapter passes in mode "sleep" because energy saving options and thus break the connection to the network).

    Hope this helps others.
