How can I cancel a change of drive work?

OK, here's the problem: I've been editing very large images with a lot of diapers recently, and I noticed in disk performance problems - so I thought that by changing my preferences to set the drive to work on the D drive, I could make things better (more free space, not in competition with the use of the Windows disk, etc.).

Now when I run EP, it throws an error: "cannot open a file because the file is locked. Use the Properties command in Windows Explorer to open the file ' and refuses to open.   However, it does not say what file it is trying to open, so I don't know how to solve this problem - and I can't PE change the preference on the C drive.

Unfortunately, the preferences file is not ASCII, so I can't change it manually.   Any thoughts?

PE10, XP SP3

Half an hour later added: by removing all the configuration files simply, I can come back in PE, but I still want to know which folders and/or files PE trying to create on the D drive, so I can see if there is an improvement in the performance.

Yes PSE uses the root directory of windows for the Assembly plan. Just for your information, I wanted to let you know that there is an option to post-secondary studies to change the option to work at startup disk. Launch PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe, long press "Ctrl + Alt" and not to leave keys until you see an option of customizing work drive.
