How can I downgrade from Vista to XP?

It's a constant battle just maintaining a wisp of stability using Vista as my platform.  I would can the Vista and replace it with XP Pro.  My computer is very unstable and the software is such that when I type an icon on my desktop, I too never know what I'll get.  There are no options.  Either I am able to replace my platform or bury the computer encased in concrete, so it can never hurt another human being!

Although Vista is not my favorite operating system if the computer is free of viruses/malware and sound equipment you should not experience problems as you describe. Rather than taking the drastic decision to downgrade to XP, it would be better to find out what is the cause of instability. For example, if you have hardware problems, and then by installing another operating system do not solve anything. If you want to try and solve the real problems, start by making sure that the computer is clean and the material is good:

Or if the good material of tests you can back up your data and then create a factory restore. Maybe you have installed software that is not compatible, bad drivers, etc.. Here is the information requested on the downgrade to XP but I think it would be better to solve the problems under Vista.

1. go to the OEM Web site and find the XP drivers for your specific model computer. If there is no XP drivers, you can not install XP. End of the story. If there are drivers, download them and store them on a CD - R or USB thumbdrive. you will need after installing XP.

2. check with the OEM - either since their technical support site, either as - to see if you will cancel your warranty if you do this. If void you your warranty, you make the decision.

3. If the OEM supports XP on the machine, call them and see if you can qualify to demotion and ask them to send you a XP restore disc. This is by far the easiest and best way to put XP on the machine.

4. if XP is supported on the machine but OEM does not have a disk to restore XP for you, understand that you will need to buy a copy of XP to your favorite online or brick/mortar store retail.

5. also understand that you will need to do a fresh install of XP, so if you have any data you want back first.

6. If none of the above applies to you because you can't run XP which return (see point 1 above), the computer of the machine and buy a running XP instead.

    Hello

It's always a good idea to have a paper copy of a disc (for resettlement and repairs).

And Yes, backup all your data as 'can' happen during an upgrade that is supposed to be easy.

This is a very good guide for what you want to do:

Make sure you go from Vista 32 bit to Windows 7 32 bit to be able to do an upgrade.

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/6892/how-to-perform-an-upgrade-from-Vista-to-Windows-7/

    And follow these steps first:

Go to the HP website and see if Windows 7 drivers are available for your make and model computer / laptop.

    http://WWW8.HP.com/us/en/support-drivers.html

If this is not available, Windows 7 will not properly work for you.

  • Can I downgrade from Vista 64 for Vista 32

When I bought my HP laptop, it came with Windows Vista 64 pre-installed.  Because I have several compatibility issues, I would like to go back to Vista 32.  How can I do this?

You must purchase a full install of Vista 32-bit version, make sure that your system supports 32-bit drivers and you can get them (contact the manufacturer to verify this and perhaps for pilots), and then you must do a clean install to make the change (you can 'downgrade' or 'upgrade' between few different sizes).  Don't forget to backup your data before installing the new.  If you have more than 4 GB of RAM, you must reduce it to no more than 4 GB before you start as well.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

  • can I downgrade from vista to windows 98xp

can you switch from Windows vista to windows xp

    Yes.

Install Windows XP to the usual. To activate it, you will need to use the phone-in method and explain that you use your right of demotion. The person will guide you through the activation process. You may not use the Vista operating system whose key you use for the XP install on any computer.

I suspect it's a typo, but just for clarity: Windows 98 and Windows XP are different operating systems.

  • How can I downgrade from Windows 7 to Windows XP? Where can I get the disks for this?

No not supplied with the PC recovery CD.  Where to get recovery HP CDs. says buy from Microsoft, Microsoft says contact manufacturer

original title: Downgrade from windows 7 to XP

If you have an HP computer with Windows 7 pre-installed,

    (a) you will not be able to find the drivers for your computer hardware for XP (except if you bought your computer, just like Windows 7 was spilled) - even if you could find somehow a copy of XP to install and

    (b) any person at HP who told you to contact Microsoft won't - HP is obliged by its license from Microsoft to provide you with a mechanism (it doesn't have to be physical CDs) to reinstall the operating system that was on the computer when you bought it.

  • How can I downgrade from CC to CC 2014 2015?

I need to downgrade, because Adobe in its infinite wisdom, decided to ditch Adobe Exchange, then drop in 2015 of CC. I have several plugins purchased that I use, which are closely woven into my workflow of companies. I found out about it after the upgrade to 2015 CC and noticing that no plugin could be started / pointed. What is there to do? The CC app does not downgrade from CC 2014 because none of the CC 2014 applications are appearing in previous versions, except for Adobe Exchange, bridge CC and Extendscript.

  • How do I downgrade from Vista to XP?

Original title: Windows Vista and Windows XP update Questions

Hello. I have Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit on this computer, when I found my old Windows XP Upgrade disk. I wanted to downgrade so I could make it easier on my game (because my computer has only 1 GB of RAM when Vista needs 2 GB). The option to install or upgrade could not be clicked. I knew then, that since she is already in a newer version, I may not go down, but is possible that I can?

Sorry if this is in a wrong Board or forum. I do not usually use these forums.

    ~ ElCaeko

No, there is no way to "downgrade" to an earlier version of Windows.  You must clean the computer, start all over and do a full install.  Given that your Windows XP is an upgrade disc you would need an eligible operating system to install Windows XP.

Java.com offers a version of Java based on your browser and operating system (OS). • can I downgrade from windows Vista Basic to windows xp home sem

I have windows vista home basic system. can I go down to windows xp home edition.

    Hello

There is NO right to downgrade from Vista Home Basic to XP.

You need Vista Business or Vista ultimate for this.

If you want XP, see if your computer manufacturer has XP drivers available for your laptop computer/computer model.

If the XP drivers are available for this purpose, Microsoft sells more than XP, so you should have to take the risk of buying a pirated software on the Net, which is not recommended at all.

If there is no XP drivers, XP would not work correctly in all cases.
