How can I prevent remenbering firefox my last session each time I open the browser?

Something happen to my computer yesterday, because a lot of my program stops but I could open again and now I have discovered today that everytime I open firefox it remember my last session even if I didn't ask to-my homepage is on my home page under options and I remember the story, and I don't know if I have that turns off it will not do this but it should not do this in the first place.

You can delete the file user.js if that what your above response is likely to prevent Firefox to restore the last session each time you start.

If there are problems with the implementation at day then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed version and remove the Firefox program folder to remove all remaining files.

Download a new copy of Firefox and save the file to the desktop.

Uninstall your current version of Firefox, if possible.

  • Why am I being asked to restore my last session each time I open firefox?

I downloaded firefox 7 I thought it was # 8 anyway, everytime I open firefox I have a button to restore my last session that closed with all the problems. fox 3.6.23 only did if some thing was sticking with a few pages open. but after I closed it had disappeared, whose bright idea was it it hold the stupid opening or asking me to restore? I guess that fire up fox ranks after 3.6.23 prove to be very bad, this problem must be resolved, or I'll go back to 3.6.23 where I had very few problems.

  • How to make win Explorer Options stay even each time to open the folder

Using Vista Home Premium SP1, in the view of STANDARD as in XP. When I open Win Explorer I resize the window, adjust the display, change the column headers, change the column sizes and others. In other words I customize the display of the window I want and do my thing, then close when you are finished. The next time I open pgm all parameters resumed all that. "Obviously I tried to change all the options I can find but now, asking" HOW can I DO FILE VIEW OPTIONS RESTENT EVEN EACH TIME PGM IS OPEN?"

    Hi Willie_wonka,

Thank you for using the Microsoft answers Forum.

When you open a window and resize it, and then close, the new window will remain the same, until what you restart. Once you restart the computer, this is the default value. There is no option in windows to keep. However, you can try work around here.

Open a window and make it the size you want
Open a 2nd window and are the same size.

The 1st window to the front, hold CTRL and click the red X in the upper right corner.
Close the window of the 2nd in the same way using CTRL.

You can also restore the default settings of the display of the tools-> Folder Options-> view files-> restore default settings.

    This should solve the problem.

    Kind regards

  • Updated FireFox, restarted and now it will not open the browser, even if the icon does not appear in my taskbar. Was fine until the update last night. Win8.1 running

When I move the mouse over the icon in the taskbar that appears after that I have I dbl-clicked on the icon on the desktop, you can see a miniature version of the browser open as usual, unfortunately, the browser will not open upward on the desktop. I've deleted and reinstalled several times. It has worked very well until I did the update last night.

    Machine features:
    8.1 to win
    16 GB of RAM
    3 video concerts
    Processor AMD FX-6200 6 3.80 Ghz
    64 bit

Sometimes, a window is "off the screen" somehow. Often, you can force it to appear on the screen by right clicking on the thumbnail image just above the taskbar and choose expand. Does it work?

A possible cause for this is that the file that stores the positions and sizes of window is corrupt.

#1 method: If you can get a zoomed window:

Open the settings folder (AKA Firefox profile) current Firefox help

    • button "3-bar" menu > "?" button > troubleshooting information
    • (menu bar) Help > troubleshooting information
    • type or paste everything: in the address bar and press Enter

In the first table of the page, click on the view file"" button. This should launch a new window that lists the various files and folders in Windows Explorer.

Leave this window open, switch back to Firefox and output, either:

    • "3-bar" menu button > button "power".
    • (menu bar) File > Exit

Pause while Firefox finishing its cleanup, then rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?

#2 method: If you can not get a Firefox window for all:

Close Firefox by right clicking the icon in the taskbar > close all windows.

Using the Run dialog box (windows key + R) or the search for the start bar menu (or perhaps 8.x for Windows search of charms bar bar?) type or paste the following and press ENTER to drill down to the profiles folder:

    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

Here you can see a folder - in this case, double-click that - or more than one case - in this case, double-click on in what looks like the most recently updated.

Scroll down and rename xulstore.json to something like xulstore.old. If you see a file named localstore.rdf, rename this to localstore.old.

Launch Firefox back up again. Windows normally appear again?
