  Hey, it's the first time I did a data merge in InDesign. I'm trying to insert a list of addresses that often has blank fields in it. The problem is when I make a data merge that I thought that the CSV file will not import because some fields are empty.   Im working on a vi that I intend to help as part of an alarm system.  I would use a JPEG file of my house as a background image for the vi, or possibly to just display in a window on the control panel.  I've seen people use their own images before, but never looked at what it was.

  Im trying to use the 'read JPEG' file vi and the flattened pixmap 'draw' vi to achieve this.  The vi works, but nothing shows up on the front panel.  If I try to create a "new image" flag out of the flattened pixmap 'draw' vi, I get a blank white window on the front panel.

  The image could be there just not to come to the right place in the image control. What is the control relative to the image? Must be a JPEG file or can you just copy as a bitmap to the Clipboard and paste it on the front panel? Can you put a photo and the unworking VI?

You can change some other programs with Illustrator eps files, but it can be much harder to do this is to create the file from scratch, depending on how it was interpereted by the Illustrator. Best bet is to get the InDesign files, if you want to work in InDesign.

  First of all.  What is your version of forms (for example: 11.1.2.2.0 not 11g).  Finally, who will use the .csv file?  If it is a user on their client computer - CLIENT_TEXT_IO TEXT_IO or WebUtil are standard packages used to export data to a file of Oracle Forms.

  The amount of data to be exported?  If you export only a couple hundred lines - export of Froms will be OK.  If you export more lines than that (300 + lines) then the export will be extremely slow to your username.  Keep in mind that forms is not designed to perform data exports - there are better tools available for this...
