  • ? How to import NEF RAW photo frames from XQD for LR - 6 cards?

Just bought the last Nikon D500 using two XQD & SD cards. Still using old LR-4, wish to update LR-6.

However discussions with Nikon technicians explain why my LR-4 cannot read XQD NEF Raw files. Apparently LR does not currently recognize new XQD NEF Raw files. Even the current LR-5 is only on Camera Raw 8.6 & LR-6 will not no more until he is with I think that Camera Raw 8.7? (required for Raw XQD files)!

So I'm only using the cameras SD card slot for now.

He explained to me the only option right now is to download the software Nikon Capture NXD (I) import the new XQD map Raw images *, then convert it to Tiff files, then can import into my LR-4 for work and then produce best JPGs of.

    (to try, but looks ok).

    * (Get your hands on a card XQD reader who is "in stock", it's another delay, however issue a separate).

(if it is true that the current LR - 6 cannot read Raw XQD files)

My Question is, what LR6 will become Camera Raw 8.7 or what ever C - Raw version is needed to do?

Of course, I do not wish to move to LR - 6, until this was done.  Grateful if someone knows the answer.

    1. The Camera Raw plugin is only used by Photoshop and Bridge
    2. Lightroom does not use the Camera Raw plugin. Camera Raw support is integrated into the Lightroom program code. To update or update of Lightroom and camera new support is included.
    3. Lightroom 6.5 is the latest version of Lightroom.
    4. XQD replaces the CompactFlash card. If your operating system recognizes XQD cards, Lightroom can read the data about them.
    5. The D500 was first supported in Lightroom 6.5. If you are using a version prior to version 6.5 (4.0, 5.0, 6.0), then you will not be able to open the Raw files. You must run 6.5 or a later version.
Devices supported by Adobe Camera Raw
    6. If you continue to use Lightroom 4 then you can use the free Adobe DNG converter to batch convert D500 Raw files to DNG - one open Raw format developed by Adobe to keep the camera owners to have to deal with the owners of Raw formats such as NEF (Nikon) and CR2 (Canon) and software incompatibilities such as you are now facing. Then change the DNG files in Lightroom 4.

In particular, it has a function to sharpen images, the other pc with no.  I can't understand why they are different, or how to update of one who has all of the features.

    Thank you. EF

I have the new version on a pc and the old version on the other.  don't have service pack 2 on the one who has the old version (it will not install), that's why I have an older version of photo editing?

If you want to try Windows download and installation
Live Photo Gallery 2009... see the following information...

    Windows Live Photo Gallery 2009

I have included all the details I can think.

I suggest you read * everything * before downloading
    and installation of the program.

Good luck with your installation of WLPG 2009...

Proceed at your own risk *.

Before you start, I suggest that you create a
    System restore point.

(Scroll down and expand the section):

Following your current version of Windows Live Photo...
Gallery must be uninstalled. See the following article:

How to uninstall one or more programs Essentials?
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Live/Essentials-uninstall-UI

Next... go to the following site:

    PhotoLibrary.zip
    http://www.sendspace.com/file/favf8m

    * There are several download buttons ignore...
most of them... one that will download ' Photo
    Library.zip' is as follows *.

Scroll down a little and 'Right', click on the text "blue":

    > "Click here to start the download from sendspace.

    And choose... "Save target as..."

Save the file "PhotoLibrary.zip" to your desktop.

Then, the files should be unpacked... or you could
Open the folder and left-click or drag the two files
folder and drop them on your desktop.

To install... Windows Live Photo Gallery 2009...
"First... double left click ' SQLServerCE31 - .msi"

FWIW... you can read the following article
    "before installing the ' SQLServerCE31 - .msi"
file. Because you are using a more recent version updated
Vista... you do not have to the file.

An introduction to SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/920700

According to... double left click "PhotoLibrary.msi."
to install Windows Live Photo Gallery 2009

If you receive a dialog showing you already have one
a newer version... the PhotoLibrary.msi file will not be installed.

To continue, the new version of Windows Live Photo
Gallery must be completely uninstalled. If you still can not
install the Photo Gallery 2009... the following site may be useful.

    Hi John,.

Thanks for the quick response!  After that, I tried the reallocation of photo gallery Windows Live as the default application for photo files.  So when I saw your response, I followed it for Windows Live.  I don't understand what you mean by "you'll have to recataloguer."  I changed the name of the file, and then open the photo gallery, according to the instructions.  But shortly after a stop too it (a few minutes with 'Live,' immediate versus with regular photo gallery).

What I started to do, is try to copy old photos from a CD on this relatively new computer.  They would not copy.  Then I tried to select 'Import pictures' rather than 'open folder '.  That's when I noticed the problem with the photo gallery Windows stops immediately.  It seems to be the same problem another user has pointed out - Data Execution Prevention stops the program.  But I can not turn off DEP for library - it will not allow him.  I tried an update, or a DEP-compatible version, but found none.

Here's a maybe stupid question: can I just move to another photo application?  Aren't my files always in there somewhere, accessible by another application?  Or am I totally off base regarding how it works?

    Thanks for the ideas!
    Veronica

New catalogue means when you rename or delete the .pd4 file... your Photo
Gallery will return to the way it was the first time that you opened. The
    Photo Gallery will fill again.

It may be interesting to try to uninstall Windows Live Photo Gallery (you can not
uninstall Windows Photo Gallery). And if it is a recent issue... it can be
worth a try to restore the system to an hour before it began.

Yes you can use another software... IrfanView, Picasa and FastStone Image
Spectator got three which may be worth a try (all free).

Your photos are probably in your pictures folder.

    Good luck.
