How can I set windows photo gallery to move the images one at a time as opposed to ten at a time?

I have windows Vista on a HP HDX16 1140 - we... When I use windows photo gallery to view and touch up my photos, they move forward 10 pictures whenever I press a button, I want to change the setting in advance both to the next consecutive photo... How can I do this? Any help would be appreciated... I've had more trouble with Vista than any other OS.

Thank you

D Vera

I don't remember see this posted question before.

Just a wild guess... but maybe it's a mouse
problem... try to advance your photos with your

It might be worth a try to

    Hi John,.

Thanks for the quick response!  After that, I tried the reallocation of photo gallery Windows Live as the default application for photo files.  So when I saw your response, I followed it for Windows Live.  I don't understand what you mean by "you'll have to recataloguer."  I changed the name of the file, and then open the photo gallery, according to the instructions.  But shortly after a stop too it (a few minutes with 'Live,' immediate versus with regular photo gallery).

What I started to do, is try to copy old photos from a CD on this relatively new computer.  They would not copy.  Then I tried to select 'Import pictures' rather than 'open folder '.  That's when I noticed the problem with the photo gallery Windows stops immediately.  It seems to be the same problem another user has pointed out - Data Execution Prevention stops the program.  But I can not turn off DEP for library - it will not allow him.  I tried an update, or a DEP-compatible version, but found none.

Here's a maybe stupid question: can I just move to another photo application?  Aren't my files always in there somewhere, accessible by another application?  Or am I totally off base regarding how it works?

    Thanks for the ideas!
    Veronica

New catalogue means when you rename or delete the .pd4 file... your Photo
Gallery will return to the way it was the first time that you opened. The
    Photo Gallery will fill again.

It may be interesting to try to uninstall Windows Live Photo Gallery (you can not
uninstall Windows Photo Gallery). And if it is a recent issue... it can be
worth a try to restore the system to an hour before it began.

Yes you can use another software... IrfanView, Picasa and FastStone Image
Spectator got three which may be worth a try (all free).

Your photos are probably in your pictures folder.

  • How can I get the tags on the Windows Photo Gallery to attach the photo file?

In the past, I had problems with the tags disappear as if by magic of my photos after many hours of their entry.  A few years ago I tried, as a measure of precaution, to make the files read-only and eliminate a bunch of change permissions, thinking that might prevent data disappear.  (FYI: it didn't.)  Anyway, recently I have been seized all the tags through the Windows Photo Gallery (mistake #1).  Only problem was, I don't remember I had changed permissions (error #2).  I have since reset the permissions, but now I have a bunch of pictures with labels WPG, but not in the files themselves, and I know from experience that it will be a mistake to keep it like that.

So the question is this: How can I transfer the WPG tags only to the photo files themselves?  (Please tell me that there is an easy way...)

It is possible that data owners library.
    base is corrupted.

Uninstalling and reinstalling PG does not update the database...
It must be manually renamed or deleted.

If you rename the file... it will force the photo gallery to create a
new database file the next time, it is launched and the Gallery
must be as it was the first time, it was launched and the
    Gallery should be re-populated.

I'm not positive that this will solve the problem you are dealing with
with, but if you want to try the file name is...
Pictures.PD6. If you have the latest version of Photo
Gallery... the file may be named Pictures.PD7... I'm not
some... but the steps would be the same.

Just rename it to OLDPictures.pd6. This can cause you to
lose tags and metadata that are not rewritten on
    the photo files.

The path to the file (in Windows 7) is:

    Windows\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\
    Windows Live Photo Gallery\Pictures.pd6

(Sorry, but I'm not sure of the path in WIndows 8 but if you)
do a search for PD6 PD7, you should be able to find it.

Pictures.PD6 is a file... the following article explains
    How to show hidden files:

Windows 7 - show hidden files
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/show-hidden-files

If this does not improve the problem... you can delete the
new file Pictures.pd6 and rename OLDPictures.p6 back to
Pictures.PD6 and the gallery should be as it was before.

If the result is not satisfactory... you can delete the new PD6
folder and rename it back to an old Pictures.PD6 and the
Gallery should be as it was before the change.

  • I try to print from Windows Photo Gallery. Put the print job in the queue, but does not print.

I try to print a photo directly from the Windows Vista Photo Gallery. The task appears in the print queue and says he is "sent to printer", but prints never. I can print from other programs. I tried to reinstall my printer driver but no problems. My printer is a Dell 946. Any ideas?

    Hi DElizabethB,

1 when was the last time you were able to print using Windows Photo Gallery?
    2. did you of recent changes on the computer?

    Method 1

It is possible that some third-party photo editing software installed on the computer is in conflict with the printing process.

I suggest that you check if the Windows Photo Gallery is set as default program for opening images on the computer.

    1. open default programs by clicking the Start button, click default programs.
    2. click on set your default programs.
    3. in the framework of programs, click the Windows Photo Gallery, and then click set this program as default.
    4. click on OK.
    5. check if printing works.

    Method 2

It is possible that some settings for the printer are incorrect, run the fix tool available in the link below and check if it works.

    Solve printer problems
    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/troubleshoot-printer-problems

    Method 3

It is possible that some third-party programs installed on the computer are in conflict with the printing process.
I suggest you perform the clean boot procedure and check.

To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows Vista by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

See the link below to learn more about how to clean boot.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Reset the computer to start as usual
When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
    1. click on Start, type msconfig in the search box and press ENTER.
    2. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click continue.
    3. on the general tab, click the Normal startup option, and then click OK.
    4. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click restart.

    I hope this helps!
