  The catalog is updated twice per month, the first and the second Friday of the month, so it may happen that downloads are already available via dell.com support but not yet in the catalog.

  Here's how to upgrade the firmware...

  You will need a blank USB key.

  I zipped and attached the files that you need to update the microcode under attachments below...

  Download and uncompress the files that I have attached.

  What you will do is to make your USB flash drive bootable.

  Next, you will copy the contents of the DOS system files folder and the BACK Flash folder on the USB after make you it bootable.

  Let's start...

  1. Insert your USB key into a USB port.  Make sure it is empty because in the next step, we will format the drive and make it bootable, so all of the data on the disk will be permanently lost.

  2. run sp27608.exe and follow the instructions on the screen to make your USB bootable Flash drive.

  3. Once this is done, copy the contents of the DOS system files folder to the USB flash drive.  All of the content, not the folder.

  4 copy the contents of the file Flash sp51243 BACK in the USB flash drive.  Again... just the content of the file, not the file.

  5. restart the PC and press the F9 key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get the menu boot options.

  Select the USB in the list of bootable devices and press the Enter key.

  6. the PC should boot from the USB flash drive, and you should arrive at a command prompt.

  7. at the command prompt, type Flashbin.exe and press the Enter key.
