  I saw the same message appearing on several places on the internet (on different laptops with a Phoenix BIOS in common), but so far I have not been able to find a working solution.

  It might me a hardware problem, but all devices (vga, soiund, lan, wifi, usb, hdd) seem to work perfectly under Windows, so this does not seem the question). Another solution that is mentioned in some forums, replace the battery. But because the phone keeps time correctly I don't think it's the case either.

  Any ideas?

  The POST (power on self-test) BIOS checks and detects errors on the motherboard.
  I think it has something to do with the hardware on the motherboard problem.
  I doubt that you can solve this if update of the BIOS and the BIOS default settings didn't change that.

  Hi Ben,

  The problem is that you must create this disk with Windows and all the drivers/tools yourself if it of not given with the computer. This can be done with the preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Media Creator who creates the Toshiba recovery disc. This disc contains a picture to factory settings (Windows with all the drivers and tools) and can be used to restore the factory settings every time.
  So you need this disc to install Vista with the supplied software.

  In any case, now it s too late and you need to order such a drive of Toshiba directly but it s not for free:

  Of course, you can install Windows on a normal disc of Microsoft, but then you must install all the drivers and tools yourself so recovery disk is the easiest way and pre-tested by Toshiba. ;)

  To be honest I have no interest in something like that, but I just want to recommend you to visit the web page of Logitech. They have so many products for PCs and laptops. Maybe they have a solution for the remote control that you can use with your laptop.

  Whenever I plug the cable into the Marvell Yukon 88E8040T PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller Socket I can observe how the line under the area of network connectivity (it's "Netzwerkverbindung" in German, I don't know the exact equivalent on English Vista systems) switches beetween 'enabled' and "network cable has been removed" (again once I do not know the English equivalent but in German It's "Aktiviert" and "Netzwerkkabel wurde removed"). It happens every second. It is like a branch and unplug the cable all the time. As a result, fires, taking green flash every second, then they disappeared again (no green light constant).
  Logically, it is impossible to get a connection network because of this problem.
  I tried everything and I search everywhere but I can't find a solution.

  I am running Vista Home Premium 32-bit, it's no firewall problem, no cable (I tried 6 cables, who work on other machines), no router problem (because I do not have a router ;)) and I got the latest driver version (even tried more old - same problem).)

  Any ideas? :(

  Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery.
  Leave the laptop unplugged and then hold down power button / stop along 30 sec.

  The VAP (value added package) was designed for Win Vista and Win 7 ONLY!
  There is no PPV for Win XP!

  Satellite A300D-205 belongs to the PSAHCE but the Toshiba series European driver page does not provide the Win XP drivers for this series! There are only Vista or Win 7 drivers.

  To be honest, Win XP is oldie was a King in the past, but the King living death the King (Win 7)

  I doubt that you will get Win XP drivers created for this series and so I doubt that you will get to the buttons FN.
  But of course, you can try to install common Module, Hotkey Utility, utility Hotkey to published display to other devices perhaps series (A300, A200, etc.), you could get the tools running that would allow the FN keys
