How the Pavilion HPE-150 t has 6 GB of RAM with 3 DIMM slots

Check the specifications for the Pavilion HPE-150 t, I see that HP currently offers a free upgrade to 6 GB of RAM (from 4 GB.) What I don't understand is that these 6 GB of RAM are provided in 3 DIMMs.

The only setting I can think of that allows two-channel with 3 DIMMs mode in this situation is to have a pair of 1.5 GB DIMMS in channel A and a single 3 GB DIMM in channel B.

However, AFAIK, DIMM is not sold in one of these densities (1.5 GB and 3 GB.)

Can someone explain this for me, please?

As far as I know, HP is not the "Dual-channel" advertising - they simply offer amount:

http://www.shopping.HP.com/series/category/desktops/HPE150t_series/3/computer_store?JumpID=reg_R1002_USEN

FREE UPDATE! 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM [3 DIMMS] from 4 GB

http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c01976259

It is highly unlikely HP POP just in an extra 2 GB DIMMS.

The only way you can get dual channel of this mobo is to fill the memory DDR3 DIMM 2 and 4 or all 4 DIMM with the same type and density.

    Hi spacechild,

Be careful with a PSU over 650 watts.  There were messages on this forum where large power supply has failed.

I don't know why you need a power supply that is 750 watts or more, but the Corsair HX 650 could you fit a need.

  • Pavilion HPE h8-1207eo: Sapphire R9 380 will work with chicago motherboard?

    Hello

I'm about to buy a new graphics card for my older Pavilion and I think to buy this R9 380 of Sapphire.

I heard that people have had problems with the old BIOS from the motherboard in this PC (IPISB-CH2) and I would like to know if the same problems with this graphics card would occur. I think that he has dual bios which (I assume) would make the card compatible with older motherboards. I did all other components work with the card.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

    -Max

    Hjalpmovie, welcome to the forum.

If you read the specifications tab in the link you provided, he says to a power supply (PSU) of not less than 500W.  The power supply of your computer is only 460W.  I suggest at least 600W to make sure that you have enough power for the future updates.

You must also measure the space where the map is to ensure that he will accept a card that is 9.5 "(237,35 mm)."  It is a VBIOS hybrid that allows him to work with a legacy or a UEFI BIOS.  If it were me, I would contact the manufacturer to make sure that it works before you order it.  This will save the shipping charges to return it if it does not work for some reason any.

  • Pavilion 500-150: HP Bios Lock-Down?

    Hi all

So I was looking for forums and thought that I had asked here: so we got a new machine and the kids want to play games, but some games do not allow internal graphics. I want to install a graphics card but do not know if it will allow the motherboard (Bios). It has a PCI slot for one but don't want to buy and install have the fans turn but have the Bios block.

I have the power supply to upgrade the installed plant. I intend to buy XFX Radeon R7 240 2 GB DDR3 PCIe 3.0x16, video Cardinal any who think that a time I unstall drivers for the graphics of the plant and install new drivers, Bios it hangs in? Thanks in advance.

    Joseph

    Hi _driver51,

I can not find the product for your model specification, are you sure it's 500-150? or it's 550-150.

I can suggest you only focus on the speed of PCIe, the BIOS is not a problem when changing the graphics card, but you must make sure that your motherboard has the correct port for the graphics card. In this case, chetanrao_tech GeForce GTX645 sugested that is PCIe 3.0 x. Looking for a Radeon R7 240, which is also PCIe 3.0 x.

I was looking for your model and I found 2 options:

    • The closest is the Pavilion 500-164, it supports the PCIe 2.0 x and the before mentioned graphics cards are * NO * supported, be careful.
    • The other model near your is the Pavilion 550-150, this one has a PCIe 3.0 connector x available. and previously the two mentioned graphics cards are supported completely.

Can you take a look at your model number again just to be sure it was OK?

You must install the Adobe programs since the original installation programs. Never migrate from a backup.

If this isn't the case, you must contact Adobe support.

  • Pavilion HPE h9-1215: increase the maximum memory AND replace the video card by one who has at least a Display Port

I want to increase up to 32 GB of system RAM.  This will require Windows 10? I currently have Windows 7 Home Premium.

    This Kingston RAM will work:

    Size of memory 8 GB

    Memory DDR3 SDRAM technology

    1600 MHz memory speed

    Standard DDR3-1600/PC3-12800 memory

    ECC error checking

    The recorded signal processing

Also, I want to be able to run 2-28 "monitors UHD or almost full resolution.  What graphics card would recommend someone? I understand that the card must have at least a DisplayPort.

HP initially, as an option, the GeForce 680 GPU GTX. So I guess it should work.

My system has the processor i7-3770 @ 3.4 GHz

Thanks for help with any known RAM/cards that work on this system. And extra thanks for suggestions on the question if I need to upgrade to Windows 10 do all work as well as all changes to the Bios can do.

    Big_Dave,

I want to thank you for all your help and suggestions.  I already bought Windows 7 Pro.

    I've set up CPU - Z.

I will contact HP sales for upgrades of memory for my system.

I went to the site of Kingston memory tools.  He suggested that using 4 GB modules since it is probably set up for a maximum of 16 GB with Windows 7 Home Premium.  I need to work on that.

And what a great suggestion on the graphics card.  It has 2 DisplayPorts!

    You are the best.

Thanks and I'll let you know how it works.

I would like to replace the default Radeon HD 7450, which was built in desktop and replace it with a Nvidia GeForce GTS 450, my question is, is it compatible with my motherboard? Everything in the desktop computer is the same, except that I replaced the power supply with a Corsair CX600. As is all other compatible with the motherboard Angelica 2 graphics cards? Thank you!

    Shadgam, welcome to the forum.

New after the 640 GT video cards require UEFI in the motherboard instead of the standard BIOS.  HP didn't start using UEFI until mid-October 2012.

I see no reason why the GTS 450 (see card) is not working on your computer.  Your motherboard has a PCI Express x 16 (Gen.2) slot.  You can always call the manufacturer's Technical Support to make sure the card you have chosen will work.

  • Connect the second VGA monitor to Pavilion HPE

    Hello

I have a Pavilion HPE h8-1114 PC, that has a DVI and HDMI monitor port. I have a VGA monitor connected to the DVI port with an adapter. I have a second VGA monitor, I want to connect, but I understand that it cannot be connected to the HDMI port. Are there other options besides buying a HDMI monitor? Can I use one of the covered ports which I think is VGA? (I guess not.) Can I add a second graphics card with a VGA port and use both screens? (I saw on another post that adding another graphics card could disable the existing card). Can I opt for a card that supports two VGA or DVI ports?

    Thank you!

In addition what erico said, there are other options. You can use a video-to-USB adapter of EVGA UV plus + 19 or you can add a x 1 PCIe graphics card. If with a PCIe x 1, using a card Nvidia... results will be the best in this way.

  • HP Pavilion HPE h8 - 1010t CTO D: the GPU upgrade, now the PC will be unbootable, or even POST

I visit my father. We strive to upgrade the GPU in its Pavilion from HP running Windows 7.

    http://support.HP.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-HPE-H8-1000-desktop-PC-series/5080764/model/5140202

The PC was shipped originally with a GPU Radeon HD 6450 (1 GB). It has only 2 video, outputs and he wanted to add a third monitor. I recommended he buy a new GPU. He bought a 260 X XFX R7.

    http://xfxforce.com/en-us/products/.../AMD-Radeon-R7-260x-core-Edition-R7-260x-cnf4

Also, we went to electronics, Fry's and bought a new power supply, a N500 Lepa, which is a power of 500w. We have successfully installed your new diet.

Now, when I removed the old GPU, and put in the new GPU, PC turns on, the Red led light on the front comes on and stay red, but the PC unbootable. The screen is black, and it is not initialized.

I once forgot to connect the power supply to the GPU. That day the PC started to boot the system & I was able to use logmein remote inside to turn it off, but once the machine was turned off again and I plugged the power of pin PCIexpress 6 pay-per-view, same behavior. PC is out of warranty w / HP, so that they are without help.

I went to the website of HP and the BIOS update. still no luck.

We have added some third-party RAM. I tried to remove the third-party RAM to see if it was the question. Does not solve it. I tried to remove the OEM ram and install just the 3rd part of RAM, but has not made a difference either.

There is not BIOS version 8 available. Your situation is not a happy scenerio.

  • Upgrade the video card in Pavilion HPE 380t

    Hello

I want to upgrade the video card in my HPE 380 t, currently it has geforce gtx 260, I want to install a geforce gtx 560 ti or 570.

I have 2 problems with the viability of this. 1. space. and 2. Food. Has anyone successfully completed a similar upgrade on this system?

Plug current sys is the following.

    • Intel Core i7 - 930 quad-core [2.8 GHz, 1 MB L2 + 8 MB of cache N3 shared]
    • 12GB DDR3 - 1066 MHz SDRAM [6 DIMMS]
    • 1 TB hard drive 7200 RPM SATA 3 Gb/s of 750Go
    • 1.8 GB NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260 [2 DVI, HDMI and VGA adapters]
    • LightScribe 16 X MAX drive DVD +/-R/RW SuperMulti

    power of 460 wt

About the food, the psu calculator gives me the following recommendations

I need my current configuration 529W!

    with a gtx 560 ti , I need 513

    with a gtx 570, I need 577W

    This raises a few questions:

    1. How can my system running on a 460wt power if the power supply calculator recommends 529w (nvidia reccomends a PSU 500w for the gtx 260 which is installed on my machine?)

    2. how the song gtx 560 ti could possibly require less energy than my current gtx 260?

    3. could I move to one of these cards without replacing the power supply? (I'd be willing to lose the dvd/rw drive, this falls 30w)

    4. what someone has updated the PSU in a HPE 380 t? Looks like there is a little extra space, but not much?

About the video card itself, I am concerned about the space, I looked inside of the case, there is a decent amount of clearance around the gtx 260, but I'd love to hear from someone who has tried to replace this card.

    Specifications for standard cards are:

    gtx 260 courses:

height: 4,376 inches, length: 10.5 inches, width: double slot

    recommended psu 500w

    GTX 560 ti

height: 4,376 inches, length: 9 inches, width: double slot

    recommended psu 500w

    GTX 560 ti super clocked

height: 9.4 inches, length: 11.8 inches, width: double slot

    GTX 570

height: 4,376 inches, length: 10.5 inches, width: double slot

    recommended psu 550w

bang for buck the 560 ti superclocked is the best deal, unfortunately they are also the most cumbersome...

    All advice appreciated!

    Hello

The difference will be the distance between the power supply and the optical bays can be annoying.  Open your PC and do some measure and see if a thumb causes less issues.  Don't forget the extra cable lengths.

Tip: When you install the new power supply, remove the front cover, lock the optical drive and slide if forward to facilitate the installation of the power supply. Do the PSU upgrade before you get your PC stable before installing new video card.

These "how-to" HP articles should be useful.

The OCZ has a bus verses double 12 volts the Corsair with a rail.  There is always a debate about who is best. Both have advantages and disadvantages.  I prefer implementing the only bus.  The really big PSUS, all seem to have several buses. The material of the size of the bus which had to bear the whole of the amperage on a bus would be rather substantial with very large power supplies and there are other reasons.

    Hello

A video card with certain powers, such as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 it in the office, I use, requires a minimum of 450 Watts and two PCIe 6-pin power connectors to operate. The specification of the manufacturer of a video card will specify what power is needed and how the PCIe power connectors are needed. I usually install OCZTechnology, Corsair or PC Power & Cooling brands that are well known in the enthusiast PC and professional circles IT. avoid no-name brands to avoid disappointment.

This means that the standard 300 Watt power supply of your PC is not just enough.

The video card that is currently in your office is a low-power video card that requires minimal power to operate, but unfortunately also doesn't have a lot of video processing power.

You can find the video that will show you how do it if you feel comfortable enough to make yourself. You can also pay to have done by a tech in a store, if you think you need.

It is strongly recommended that the PSU have the following specs or better. ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2. These specifications ensure that the power supply will have connectors that requires your PC.

Due to the limited space in the case of an OEM PC like yours, it is also suggested that food being of modular type.
