How to allocate disk space unused on my existing C: drive to leave me with a HARD drive?

I have a HDD existing (c) to which I would add the 120 GB of space unallocated on my netbook. I use Windows 7 starter edition and so far, all the answers I've found are related to the partitions. I have already the disc labeled "System" and another small disk labeled 'partition of recovery in good health I would like to have all my other available memory allocated on the disk C: but I feel very difficult to achieve this goal. I must point out that I'm pretty technically inept and so I would appreciate any help you could give me. Thank you.

You can only do this, if unallocated space is contiguous with the original disc of C.

Press the Windows key + R to open the run and type diskmgmt.msc to open disk management.

In the lower area, check available to the reader. If the "Recovery" partition is located between the 'System' drive C and your unallocated space then the drive cannot be extended to it.

Your alternative is to create a new partition in unallocated space and use the location in many directories user profile tab to relocate them to the new partition to free up space on the C drive.

  • How to allocate disk space for vCenter server logs

    Hello

I plan to level 4.1 to 5.5 U2d vCenter on the customer site. One of the conditions set out in the vSphere upgrade guide is:

"In vCenter Server 5.x, the default size for vCenter Server connects is larger than in vCenter Server 4.x. make sure that the disk space allocated for the log folder is sufficient for this increase 450MB."

My question is how to allocate disk space for the log file and where can I find the disk space allotted to file papers to vCenter 4.1 existing?

Just see the free space on the partition where the vCenter server logs are stored. If it is insufficient, increase the size of the virtual disk and then increase the file system to the guest OS.

  • How to: recover disk space by removing the updates of windows installation files

Original title : Software updates to XP Pro do take the disk space that can be reclaimed by removing downloaded files?

I want to recover disk space which can have useless files.  Once an update is installed, the downloaded file can be deleted and if so, where they are on my drive?

Please note this is only for Windows XP and is not on Vista or Windows 7

Folders that have uninstall as part of the name (for example $NtUninstallKB282010$ who reside in C:\windows (hidden files) are window Hot difficulty updating folders/files) can be removed safely (providing ever, you wish to uninstall the updates). I recommend you leave these records for a period of at least one month to make sure that the update works correctly.

These updates can be removed individually or together. To learn more about the update/s go on:

NB: XXXXXX = the actual number, not to mention the "Q" or "Ko."

Once you have removed the uninstall folders/files, then go to control panel, add/remove programs. Select the title of the corresponding Windows fix on the folder/file of the patch you just deleted, and select Delete. You will get a Windows error. This is because you deleted the uninstall folder/files. Simply choose OK and the entry will be removed from the Add/Remove Programs list.

  • How to increase disk space without guest operating system reinstallation

    Hello

I take advantage of VMWARE with linux host and vista 64 comments, but I encountered a problem, running out of disk space.

During the installation of VISTA, I chose 25 GB of disk space, as recommneded by IG of installation).

    Now I need more space.

According to the virtual disk manager, I did

    VMware-vdiskmanager mydisk.vmdk 40 GB - x

increase to 40 GB. It seemed to work, as I received a message,

    "Disk expansion completed successfully."

Now "The VM setting" windows says HD 40 GB. But internally under VISTA, disk space is always 25 GB. In fact, the size of disk file (view on the side of linux) is only 22 GB. No idea how to increase disk space. He must start from the installation, but it's a little painful.

    Thank you.

If the guest is Vista or Windows 2008, then you should be able to extend the partition while the system is running.

Take a look at this article: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial133.html

Windows NT/2000/XP/2003 won't let you do that, while the disk is online.  Vista and Windows 2008 changed things.

For versions of Windows Vista/2008, look for the Dell ExtPart.exe utility, as it will do the job for you.

    See you soon,.

  • How can low disk space, I transfer programs on USB?

I downloaded a trial version of Office Home and Business 2010 after the removal of Office 2003. I'm running out of disk space. How can I transfer programs on USB to save space on my PC? I use XP and I will be upgrading a PC in about 3 months.
    1 GB OF RAM
    30 GB HDD
    Explorer 8.06001.18702
    Windows 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3
Browser is Mozilla Firefox (latest version)

There are a number of things you can do to- temporarily - free up disk space.  The only real solution, however, is to get a bigger internal hard drive.

If you mean by "USB", a USB flash drive, you shouldn't do that for all the data that you access often unless the unit is very recent and accurate that it is likely to long term use.  Until recently, flash drives had a limited lifetime (generally non-advertised).  If you mean an external drive connected via USB, you can move data from an external hard drive, but if it's the data that you use frequently, slower access times may annoy you.  Therefore, I do not recommend that you move your My Documents folder in its entirety on the external drive, but you can certainly do this by following the related instructions.

    • Uninstall applications is no longer needed by using the control panel > Add / Remove programs
    • You can run Disk Cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr > OK)
    • You can reduce the size allocated for the restoration of the system to about 1 GB (right click on desktop > properties > system restore > settings)
    • You can disable hibernation (if you don't use it) (right click on an empty spot on the desktop > properties > screen saver > power > Hibernate)
    • You can disable the indexing of the drive, which will also speed up your computer a bit (http://lifehacker.com/031440/turn-off-indexing-and-speed-up-windows-xp)
    • You can reduce the size of your Internet browser cache (depending on the browser that you use)
    • You can remove most of the $NTUninstallKBxxxxxx files $ following the directions here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Hotfix_backup.htm (read the warnings in the gray box first)

But none of these answers you will earn really large amounts of space for very long.  The term solution time is a bigger hard drive.

In the meantime, download and run JDiskReport, that will show you graphically what files take up more space and seem to so indicate what files you must move it to your external drive.  If you want to move an application, you will need to uninstall and then reinstall it specifying your external drive as the installation location.  You can not simply move the files.

  • How to return disk space that Premiere Pro uses when editing?

I use Premiere Pro on a Mac to edit video. Whenever I have a project, I noticed that a lot of hard disk space is missing. I deleted all of my video files and almost all my project files. I have released as much as 100 GB of space and after the editing of a large project, more than half of the TI had disappeared. I went in Finder on Mac to see if I could find were the room isn't, but I'm not able to see all the really big files that could be made of the space. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm at 7.6 GB on a 500 GB hard drive. Can not know where will all the space.

First of all, most of the people working in these programs use more than a sub-Go of disk.

Second... I don't think you have check your files from the cache, the database & such? Look in the drive of the project files tab / Scratch...

Describes circles are the "bits" on your computer, parts of arrows are the location. You have to put in a place you can easily find & em empty from time to time.

  • How to check disk space total used by virtual machine

    Dear team,

I rec was a demand of the customer, he ask us to share the total disk space used by a virtual machine. I don't have any credentials to the total used space of control to verify. Is there a way I can check the disk space total used by the virtual machine offline.

Note: we have implemented a virtual machine with the thin disk.

When you say that you have no credentials, I guess that this is designed for the guests, rather than to the ESXi hosts/vCenter Server operating systems! You can see the disk space used in the data store browser, executing CLI ls-lisa or by using a tool like RVTools third 3rd.

  • How to solve "disk space is full" problem downloading the apps in Creative Cloud Packager

    Hi all!

I have recently started using Creative Cloud Packager and started my first package.  I gave instructions to download on my Local D drive (which has 200 GB free) and he began successfully, but about a third of the way through it stops and some of the apps have a warning icon and the error "disk space is full, please remove the space and try again.  However my D drive always shows 200 GB free which means that it is not download on there at all and also that it is the space!

Is there a cache location to download which can be full or does it download directly on the folder I have loaded?

Can anyone advise on the best way to solve this please?

    Thank you

    James

    Hi James,

The cache folder is set in preferences, under the "Welcome" menu drop-down menu.

I installed windows 7, 64 bit on my machine.

I have made 3 partitions: C = 100 GB and the rest of the form 1 TB disk space divided in two other partitions. (those who have files it contains)

Now, when I go to the COMPUTER, with windows (C) says that he has only 47 GB free which means windows takes more than 50 GB. But when I go on the content of this partition and see the size you of files... It shows only 12 GB, and there is no hidden inside folder.

Can someone help me with this? Thank you

Windows 7 uses about 8 to 10 GB of disk space.

Click Start, type: advanced system settings

    Press enter on your keyboard

Go to the System Protection tab

    Click Configure system restore

Make sure that the system restore does not use too much disk space.

Use the wheel to reduce the amount of disk space.

In addition, the amount of RAM you have installed, it will take more disk space for paging, hibernation, and dump files.
