How to apply a patch

Hi all

How to apply a patch on Oracle, cananybody give me all the steps...

Here are some of the steps to apply a patch on oracle 9i (9.2.0.7)
Note: These are pre-installation steps that should be made just before the maintenance window begins

Make sure you have Perl perl 5.00503 (or later version) - v

You must use OPatch version 1.0.0.0.54 or later.
Check the current version:

$ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch version
If not, install it. In the $ORACLE_HOME directory copy the p2617419_10102_GENERIC.zip and unzip the latter:

CP p2617419_10102_GENERIC.zip $ORACLE_HOME.
MV $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/$ORACLE_HOME/OPatch.bak
CD $ORACLE_HOME
unzip p2617419_10102_GENERIC.zip
Recheck the current version and if it works:

$ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch lsinventory

Before you start the installation check if 'java' and 'jar' executables are present in your Oracle home. In a standard Oracle, 'java' facility is available in $ORACLE_HOME/jre/bin directory and 'pot' is available in $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin directory.

ls-l $ORACLE_HOME/jre /"/ bin"
ls-l $ORACLE_HOME/jdk/bin
If you do not have a standard installation and these commands are not present, then call the command "opatch apply" with the flag - jdk, by specifying the full path to the JDK to use.

Check if the following executables must be present in the $PATH: brand, ar, ld, and nm.

Copy the file p4751923_92070_LINUX.zip to the directory of your oracle database, unzip it there and go to the 4751923 subdircetory.

unzip p4751923_92070_LINUX.zip
CD ~/4751923

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: The amount of Service downtime starts here

Stop all the instances and headphones associated the ORACLE_HOME updated: lsnrctl stop
sqlplus "/ as sysdba";
SQL > shutdown immediate;
SQL > "exit";

Apply the CPU:

$ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch apply

If you encounter errors, please see the "Known issues" section of the 343384.1 document.

Start up of all instances of database running on the ORACLE_HOME being patched and run a post-installation script.

CD $ORACLE_HOME/cpu/CPUJan2006
sqlplus "/ as sysdba";
SQL > startup;
SQL > select OBJECT_NAME from DBA_OBJECTS where status = 'INVALID ';
SQL > @catcpu.sql;
SQL > "exit";
Examine the log file. If you encounter errors, please see the "Known issues" section of the 343384.1 document.

If catcpu.sql reports all invalid objects, compile invalid objects by using the following:

CD $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin
sqlplus "/ as sysdba";
SQL > @utlrp.sql
Check again if invalid objects:

SQL > select OBJECT_NAME from DBA_OBJECTS where status = 'INVALID ';
SQL > "exit";

Start the listener: lsnrctl start

    1 reporter on the primary to the standby log shipping.

    We are on Hyperion System 11.1.13 and we intend to switch to IE8 by the company. I know that there is a possible problem with IE8 with space work and financial information. When I did the research, it shows that we must apply the following hotfixes. I've done system Hyperion 11 facilities several times but I never have patches. • How to apply the Patch

    Dear friends,

    My current database is 10.2.0.1.0. I checked my setting compatible file init.

    I would ask my patch to upgrade to 10.4.

    Its a file exe and when I run I don't know if I should install it in the same folder and the same House. I tried different location House and different but it says that it must be in the current House.

    Otherwise, it shows errors awt.dll is not available, written by another process. I did stop my database and stop all the necessary services.

    I also tried to use the same location but different host.

    Please guide me on how to go about it.

    I'm working on Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition.

    Thank you.

    If my existing Oracle home is Ora1 and located at c:\oracle\products\db_1, can I install this patch exactly at the same House and the same?

    Yes. In fact, the section that you pasted said to do exactly this.

    You must install it in an existing base of Oracle 10 g Oracle home.

    The reason for which you found the file misuse is probably because you have some software running that uses binary files in the Oracle home. This could be a database, customer, no matter what.

    If you really believe that you have everything off then the next action plan, I would recommend would be to put Windows Services to manual and reboot the server. So try and apply the patch. I've seen this behavior before in a Windows environment.

    2. you must stop your database - instance. Since patch applies it would execute a re-release of links (as the binaries are access it would apply)

  • How to apply RUP6 (patch 6728000) during the installation of the single node?

    Dear

    On single node configuration, we have installed Oracle Apps R12.0.4. Now I need to apply RUP6 (patch 6728000). In what order should I apply the patch? According to my knowledge "u*.drv" type patches must be applied to both AS & DB level. I thought to do like this covered, Source Apps*.env, AS stop, mode adadmin (interview), adpatch, startAS. But DB must be up & running in this process. After that, I have to apply this hotfix on DB also stop DB &?

    Fix.

    After that, I stop DB & also the application of this fix on DB?

    No, because you have already applied the patch as a user applmgr and already patched the application layer as well as the database layer. Thus, simply disable maintenance mode, start the services application, and access the application.

    Make sure that you follow all the steps in the Readme of the patch and (Note: 743368.1 - Oracle E-Business Suite Release Update Pack Readme, release 12.0.6).)

  • How to apply the Patch to install CD

    I would like to integrate fixes from build 515841 on a CD (in fact, a USB key) trying to install ESXi5 469512 transformation.

    Is this possible?

    What is the purpose of the 'UPGRADE' on the CD directory. Could it be used to update an installation? Its content looks like a zip of maintenance.

    You can use to create an ESXi installation with a custom set of ESXi image updates and patches using ESXi Image Builder CLI.

  • How to apply patches to a standalone ESXi 3.5 U5 system?

    I have a stand-alone ESXi 3.5 U5 (free license) system I want to tinker with the last batch of patches.

    According to the patch Research Portal:

    http://www.VMware.com/patch/s3portal.Portal?_nfpb=true & _windowLabel = SearchPatch & SearchPatch_actionOverride = % 2Fportlets % 2Fpatchupdate % 2FfindPatch & _pageLabel = s3portal_pages_downloadPatch_page

    The last module is: ESXe350-201012401-O-BG - PATCH

    I can download this bundle, no problem.  However, I am confused as to how to apply this patch in my environment.  4.1 using, I can connect the tech support console and use the command esxupdate directly to apply the patches.  However, with active 3.5 + ssh using the console busybox unsupported, esxupdate command is not very useful.

    From my research, it seems that the recommended installation process is to use the RCLI.  However, it seems that the RCLI is no longer available from the download site, or at least I am unable to find it.  Furthermore, I believe that the RCLI is 'read only' with the free license, so I would not be able to apply the patches, would I?

    What choices do I have?  Thanks for your help!

    There is an update (do not remember his name) which can be installed at the same time as the VI client. Try reinstalling the VI client again and use the checkbox to install the update. He will be responsible to get the patches and update. You can also download the package vCLI which replaced the RCLI. If you have already installed for the 4.1, you can use the same. Or add the device to the vMA. http://VMware.com/go/VMA

  • How to apply patches?

    Hello

    I'm new to Vcenter update manager. I would like to know how to apply the patches on the ESX nodes? (by selecting and then applying)?

    THX

    Hello

    This can happen for various reasons.

    For example, a patch may be applicable to that after a service pack is applied, in order to apply this service pack can address all the known problems of when restoration began, but does also other applicable patches.

    Maybe a patch of required (applicable) is not included in the baseline. Have you created a static or dynamic reference database?

    Thank you.

    The manufacturer has replaced the HD on my computer laptop 64 bit Windows 7.  Update Windows shows about 100 updates important to apply.  I can't find patches that I had previously applied in the list of applied hotfixes or patches to apply list.  I don't understand why this is.  How would you recommend I do.  I'm afraid to apply the patches to 100 at a time.  Those who would be safer to start with?

    Thank you

    Hello

    I suggest you only begin to install the important updates (recommended) first and later if you want you can install optional updates. All Windows update are safe to install and it is important to install the update and recommended by Microsoft. It keeps your computer safer and your software current to date and if you want Windows to install important updates as they become available, turn on automatic updating. Important updates provide significant benefits, such as improved security and reliability. You can also set Windows to automatically install recommended updates, which can address non-critical problems and help enhance your computing experience. Optional updates are not downloaded or installed automatically.
